Well, there are 2 main reasons why people find her "ugly". 1. She was modeled after a very attractive super model. When you put two face on one line you'd be lucky to even get the feeling that one is related to another. Since they obviously scanned her then they deliberately changed her afterwards. And that on its own raises the question - if they changed model so much, why bother model it after a real person in the first place? I don't wanna call it an SJW conspiracy but when you have Scott Ryder, who somehow managed to escape all those problems and even resembles his prototype... the tought is unescapable, you know. 2. Animation. It's just plain bad. Someone in the studio just doesn't know his job. They claim to use Facial Capture technology but why does it looks worse than shitty ass 10 years old FaceFX from ME1? They need to send their animators to an extensive education, they would greatly benefit from that. And in the meantime HIRE JOHNATAN COOPER BACK! Although it's highly unlikely, he ain't gonna move from Naughty Dog anytime soon  |

I admit I don't like the default Sara and won't be using it, but it's nothing to do with prettiness and is all about the way her face is animated. There's something off about it...I loved how she looked in the original cutscene but in the subsequent videos she looks strange to me. Also I'm reminded of Dagna in DAI too, she's as cute as a button but not the face I want for a soldier tbh.
So don't go all SJW and assume that all the dislike is hatred. I have a right to dislike the way her face moves you know. It doesn't seem quite right to me and that's fair enough. She's my Ryder after all.

Hey there, internet people, I just want to say that Sarah Ryder is not real and indeed, is a video game character and taking offense in other internet people calling the work of the artist department ugly is, at best, a symptom of your own insecurities about your own looks or, at worst, madness.

Ignore their complaints. These are people stuck in the 19th century, when women were still forced to be beautiful to be valued and loved as human beings. To even be considered women in the first place. Hasn't our society evolved to establish that calling a woman ugly or a whore is no longer a valid form of criticism? That this spans from a patriarchal mentality based on the oppression of women? So there you have it. A bunch of primitive men - and women, too, because some of them are still brainwashed by this harmful philosophy - are using the same old prejudiced arguments to try and devalue the character. You drank the kool-aid. You should've read some of the posts in question before falling for the OP's BS. I recommend starting with the post made by the woman whose post is right below yours. You can work backward from there to get an idea of what the complaints are actually. This is not a social issue. BioWare did a bad job animating our woman protagonist. That's the complaint. No one has called Sara any of the names you mentioned, or demeaned women that I've seen on the BSN in connection with this. I think that this is 1) correct, 2) a bad error, & 3) why she looks so ridiculous, in every shot of her I have seen thus far.
People will always be judged by how they look, no amount of evolution will change the fact that our eyes see things and that we agree generally on what is aesthetically pleasing, and what is not, so please get the fuck over it. It is cheap, but so are people.

Let them complain. I love the way she looks right now, and I'll definitely play with her default looks... Don't see any reason to customize her at all  I agree. Beauty as they say is the eye of the beholder I frankly find Sara Ryder to be very sexy. Since I generally suck at character creation except for changing her eye color, hair style and color, and her skin tone. |

As i felt with both Shepards. Its the opposite..is this a good thing to me? is this a good sign to the game in what concerns my feelings? no.
So this was mt first disappointment with ME Andromeda. But its just a initial feeling. I still hope, story and game can change this first impression

Looks fine to me: Me too, but then when I saw her in that video a couple of months back (the one with the dialogue and the hub area) it was nowhere near as good. Could be different in the finished game of course. I think one of the issues with the protagonist is that, for me at least, they are a very personal character. Depending on the role play I'm doing they're often a version of myself (the women in particular, not the guys), so the way they look has to be just right. They don't need to be super hot and in fact I try and give them flaws, like a nose that's a bit too big or a huge scar or smaller eyes or something like that. Then they look real and not like a barbie doll. So Sara's look is perhaps more of a concern for people as she's us, if you chose femRyder she's the one you'll see in every cutscene. |

Given my general feelins towards logical falacies...especially THAT logical fallacies...I am curious how you think its a strawman? I know women who have complained about Sara's appearance. It was an off the cuff comment as the person in question made while watching the combat trailer, as mine was pretty off the cuff too. I just think, its fascinating, an appropo that the comment I was reffering to thinks all the complaints about Sara boil down to her not being fapping fuel, and probably men, which is not the case. I was mostly kidding. It's just the notion of projecting the issue on "all men" stuff taking it even further away from the fact that it started with complaints about the face of a protagonist that looks ugly because the eyes are stiff and the mouth looks strange. |

I just think it's when she smiles it's so off-putting that this is what people associate with her face even when she isn't. Speaking of which they've polished jack shit because she still has some sick hair gel in her pony tail and her smile still looks like the Joker in the latest footage despite being of an entirely differnet scne. It's THIS that people are complaining about:   Cuz she's supposed to look like some kind of hispanic-esque chipper girl but she looks like But people want her to look like: We just want that femRyder face but with EMOTIONS in it. Wasn't an issue with ME1 at all according to this nor was it a Witcher 3 issue -- a pretty fair comparison since supposedly BioWare and CDPR are the same league of developers in this day and age. |
