Sara is legitimately the most attractive character they've shown off so far, imho. Twincest pls.

It appears there is another site that finds Bio's Mass Effect Andromeda females ugly. Something about Bioware SJW design 101. Perhaps the OP should take his issue with the author of the article. Link is the spoiler. Another possibility is that the author peeked into this fine BSN and decided to write up a controversial article as click bait.

For what it's worth I thought a real 'live' test (of the animations from RotR would be interesting as a comparator, taken as the idle animations instead of a cutscene: I made her head bigger so you could see it easier. Oh, and rainbows. I'd like to draw everyone's attention to how her upper eyelids move down when she looks down. BioWare's almost never do, leading to that dead sea of white sclera visible above the iris. BioWare, I love you, but sweethearts - eyelids exist.

Never mind Sara, why can't Scott either shave that peach fuzz off his face or grow a hearty beard... ...god damn I hate his fluffy cheeks I'm almost 22, and I can't grow a proper beard. Comes with being a young person, tbh. I mean, ideally you'd just shave it all off, which is what I try to do, but shaving every three days is a pain in the ass. I usually don't do it for a week or two, resulting in Scott-face. Except I look worse, because I'm not a model, and my hair does grow in quite fast, so it's long and messy, but patchy. It actually looks gross. The struggle is real. The thought of not shaving every day puts shivers down my spine. I'm militant about 2 things in life, a nice close shave and my morning espresso

Maybe we should complain about PeeBee's real name, which is Pelessaria B'Sayle. That's a mouthful and now quite understandable why she got a nickname. I would have gone for Pele myself.

I appreciate having a clean shave, but I can put up with a bit of stubble if it means I don't have to deal with it that often.

That's actually a nice name, tbh. I prefer it over Peebee, for sure... Ugh, at least "PB" instead of spelling it out would've been nice. Every time I see that name I roll my eyes. Why not Pele though? Or Saria? There are a million ways to do this without making yourself sound like a jackass, Peebee.

Pelessaria makes me think of the latin pilorum, or hair. I wonder if some BioNerd with language skills came up with Pelessaria because of her eyebrows? Also, LoL at the fools who insisted "that's not hair" in the initial PeeBee reveal. Seems so long ago.

The simplest answer is that scott ryder looks like the model he is based off of where as sara doesn't really look like hers, when there is such a difference it seems like the character is made uglier when joined with the animation issues. I found it was odd as well that sara didn't looks like the model she was based from. Granted yes she is still pretty good looking but I think most don't want a repeat of Sera from inquisition where she was made to look worse then other elves seemingly on purpose.

At this rate, with Sara's latest screenshot being another adorable smile, I may have to play her as a complete and utter psychopath who came to the Andromeda galaxy to do shit, shoot stuff, and shoot the shit just for the grinnz.
"Sis, Dad's missing, he might be dead..." /GRIN "I call his armour! Called it first! You heard me!"
"You brought a pyjak from the Milky Way, Ryder?" "I sure did, Liam! I wanted to know if Andromeda aliens like the taste of pyjak." *tosses the pyjak at a Fiend* /GRIN "Oooh, I think he's crunchy!"
"I really like your hairstyle, Cora." "...um, thanks, Sara?" "Yeah, I never knew ladies did combovers to hide baldness." "..." /GRIN

I didn't see this posted in this thread, apologies if it already has been: Adorable. That's a great picture. If not for the fact that she was a sibling, I would absolutely consider her for a romance. I'm still hoping that the other sibling plays a significant role in the story, even if he/she is somehow incapacitated.

A comment on one of the numerous articles summed this whole issue up well. BioWare's frequent defense has been wanting to portray a "realistic" and "average joe" aesthetic. To which this comment (and I) say, "why did you hire two super models then?" They come across entirely hypocritical when Scott looks quite similar to his model and Sara looks like the designers were drunk. Now I do want to clarify, I actually don't find Sara ugly, but she isn't close to who she's based off. If BioWare wants to go in that direction, by all means. Just own it. Don't give me this spiel of realism when you hire this as your "average woman" character model.

Not that she's ugly, mind you, but she's not really what I'd be into. I never really liked the model look. Reminds me of a barbie doll. Sara, in the picture posted above, though, is quite lovely. Looks more natural, but still very pretty. I don't think the face models have to necessarily be the end-all-be-all in terms of character design. They're just a template to start from, rather than the actual end goal.

It would destroy verisimilitude. Out on the wider web? Yeah, maybe they'd be happy. This crowd here tends to be a bit more invested; though tastes vary widely and wildly. At any rate, he's right. Some kept wanting to claim BioWare champions the "average person", in terms of looks; yet they hired two good-looking models for their protagonists. It rings hollow. Many were justly alarmed at the Fb3 growing pains that BioWare seemed to experience with her model. It's clear that they've poured a ton of work into her, though. She's looking good. (All of the characters have looked superior in-game all along, in comparison to some of the unfortunate promo materials.) If there are a few awkward moments, here and there, they can't be worse than Shepard's creeper face. I do hope we don't have anything on that level, though.

Oh, I wasn't really trying to make a statement on Bioware using models and claiming to represent everyone. I was mostly just cherry picking the photo of the model herself because I really didn't like that particular photo, lol. Now that you've both mentioned it though, that is kinda of suspicious. Though I still think Sara looks genuinely prettier than the model they based her off of, I'm not delusional enough to believe a fucking super model isn't considered the epitome of beauty standards... I mean, they wouldn't get any work, otherwise. That does beg the question, though, as to why Bioware seems to make so many traditionally attractive male characters, while having so many non traditionally attractive females. I hate to even entertain the idea of the SJW conspiracy theories being even remotely true, but it's a better explanation than anything I can come up with, at least. I really can't think of any particular reason as to why the guys all look like what they're supposed to, and the girls don't. And hey, Shepard's creeper face is still more attractive than any face Sera makes. Ick.

Don't let that stop you. Demand equal representation from Bioware! We want siscon! D:< While the whole idea of a "forbidden love" between brother and sister might be creative and unique from a storytelling perspective, I can imagine the uproar and attacks from the media for encouraging incest in a game. Now, if SisRyder was adopted, that would at least be somewhat more ethically justifiable. I don't believe BioWare is quite ready to tackle that obstacle though...

This is what they should have shown before, its a much better picture and she doesn't look as bad as many other times we have seen her, also correct me if i'm wrong but her cheeks don't look nearly as puffy (best description I could think of) as they do in the previous gameplay or other marketing.

Japanese games have it fairly often, even in their localizations, so it's not like no one would buy it, but I'm doubtful any of those have been AAA releases here in the west.

I do think BioWare consciously makes their female characters look more "realistic", because they know that their female fans want to see realistic women in the games. It's a positive thing that harms no one, despite internet raging. I think the make characters still look like models and super-heroes because male fans prefer playing as such. Meanwhile, you won't hear the women complaining if the guys are content. Why should they?
