ITT: The same people who have been shitting on ME1 for 10 years for having huge boring planet designs are now defending ME:A for having huge boring planet designs. the problem with ME 1 was the environments were cookie cutter. Even the bases were cookie cutter. MEA does not seem to have this problem. Cookie cutter the worlds may have been, but the Nomad is no Mako.

Look how smudgy that is from the top down. Absolutely disgusting I'm certain it is like that due to console limitation. On PC with higher end system specs, it will probably be amazing textures.

It's like that because of youtube video compression, the entire screen shot is full of blur and jaggies because it's taken from a video.

There are many different aspects to the game and it is entirely possible to think one aspect looks good and another aspect less so. I think the combat looks very promising and that is the single most important aspect to me. But I'm not so convinced about the environments. I thought they were very good in DAI and they will look better than what the OP posted, but they still seem bland to me (although we have probably not seen very many at all). In DAI the wastes was by far the worst map imo, and there are a couple of planets that look like that already. I'll reserve judgment till we see more, but no matter how realistic it is to see boring, barren planets, I would rather not.

i wonder if there are places like Afterlife in the hub planets or in the Arks There's one on the Nexus, called the Vortex. I think there was a concept of something similar, but in a different location, so we might find it in a hub other then the Nexus as well. with asari dancers in there? awesome

(pause at) 2:00 2:30 3:25 4:11 4:20 4:21 Those do not look boring and barren to me. But let's just accept something. We ARE going to get some planets where the environments are gonna be pretty dull looking. It only seems natural for a game of this size. It would be a coding nightmare to have dozens upon dozens of planets, each with lush and unique environmental designs, that don't feel like just a quick palette swap of each other. God help the development team who would ever have to undertake something like that. But as long as there are plenty of planets that have more interesting environments (which we've already seen quite a few examples of this), then this should not be an issue.

Seems to me like there's just no way around this except to simply not have exploration on multiple planets. They could make them all lush Pandora-like maps, but even that would get repetitive, not to mention break suspension of disbelief.

If negative criticism bothers you I recommend taking a break from the forums I will most def be on a blackout about a couple weeks before the game comes out and that includes not visiting the forums. i'll judge for myself whether the game is good or not, but it's always nice to read other people's perspectives whether positive or negative..

Most people here I imagine wants the game to be good and wants to say good things about it, but there's been very questionable things up until this moment that warrant negative criticism and caution so as to not be disappointed if it doesn't turn out as well as the devs say it will. If the game is good, people will say mostly good things about it. If they slip up in some crucial areas people will complain and have the right to.

We're just now getting a decent amount of showcasing when it's 30 days left Will copy/paste my response. Note that this was made maybe a week before the latest trailer. other things too, but I honestly don't want to repeat myself. Just waiting till the game comes out at this point.

The marketing isn't reflective on the actual game though. I agree the marketing has been bad, but we've known for awhile now that they were gonna go full steam with the marketing a month before release, as people like Shinobi have said. That doesn't excuse the bad marketing from earlier, but if what we're seeing now is the real marketing push, not many people are gonna deny they're off to a good start. The Combat trailer was met with widely enthusiastic and positive reception.
From what I've seen so far, the characters seem like they could be interesting, the game looks beautiful, the combat looks fun, and the story seems to have the themes of discovery and exploration from ME1, with the lighthearted personal tone of ME2. So I have not been seeing any red flags with the actual content Bioware has revealed. The only time I cringed was Sara's facial animation in the VGA trailer. But I'm not overly worried about that because they supposedly polished facial animations a bit better since then, and in all honesty, the trilogy had it's moments of bad face animations too. If I could get over it then, I'll get over it now.

I'm not too worried about the world design (sorry i didn't read through the entire 6 pages) In all honesty there are only so many variations of a planet you can imagine, without them starting to look like another version of earth. Outside of that you have to start making planets like Cybertron or full metallic metal...which would again point to some sort of advanced race or civilization and i think Andromeda is geared more towards a galaxy within it's early stages of being discovered.
Of course there might be a twist of some advanced race there, but for the most part they are explorers, investigating a whole host planets that are most likely barren....rain forest like planets with alien plants or hot lava filled planets, or deep freezing polar environments, there really isn't nowhere else for them to unless they get really creative and create these vast highly advanced cities and landscapes which again i believe is not what Andromeda is about.
