Humans are special in the whole Universe because...reasons. Which is ironic, because with the exception of 'VI civilizations (Geth, Reapers)', all sentient species share with the humans, to one extent or another, pretty much everything that makes humans who they are: Faculty of reason, freedom of the will, and finitude (mortality, being born into a certain sensory range, urges to stay alive and propagate). So Krogan and Asari and Salarian (and most others?) are all variations on the human theme. If humans are 'speshul' by virtue of being the masters of their own destinies, faced with existential choices, etc. -- then why not, for the exact same reasons, the Asari or the Salarian? Existential crises would be even more acute for the Salarians, presumably, since they burn out the quickest. As to our creativity and ambition, and whatnot; how is that different from the creativity or the ambition of the others?I could get human exceptionalism in a galaxy exclusively populated by the likes of Geth, Rachni, Hanar, etc.; but what we have is already 'tough turtle-looking humans', 'smart frog-looking humans', and 'hot blue babes (humans)'. I would agree with you second (bolded point) if it wasn't for the fact that humans are practically running circles around those human-like aliens as well. A universal medical treatment that crosses species lines and works for every known species in the entire Milky Way galaxy? Humans did it. Forget this one alien race that genetically modified the rapid breeding Krogan into a specific level of birth rates; they couldn't possibly have the wherewithal to make something like Medigel. Nope, it's the newcomers with less than thirty years of xenobiology under their belts. The concept of having a larger ship carry smaller, faster ships into battle? Humans did it. Forget this one alien species that has been practically running the military side of the galactic community for the past two thousand years. Clearly all that military upbringing, required for every citizen, of that multiple system spanning government wasn't enough to conceive of such a fundamental basic of naval warfare. It takes a species barely out of our own home system to show these millennia odd societies how it's done. Etc. For Andromeda there's even the notion that: Humans are the only ones capable of accomplishing anything in the new galaxy, despite arriving on the scene 30+ years after all the other Council races arrive. All these highly advanced species and they have to wait on our Pathfinder to show up for anything like establishing permanent, and productive colonies, or completing construction on the Nexus, or even bringing their own people out of cryo-sleep to get done. Seems to be an impossibility for them to accomplish even basic level colonization attempts without humanity there to hold their hands.

So another episode in "humans most special in whole universe" saga lol? Many will not be happy should your character be the weak and useless one that can't fight his way out of a elementary school lunch line? should your character be the one that everyone else has to carry through each battle because you keep getting lost and can't defend yourself? if the game was centered on humans being useless and stupid and incapable of doing anything and the Krogans or Asari or Salarians or whomever are the "special race" up front, you might not even be allowed to leave the ship cuz you're too squishy. wouldn't this be the most boring game cuz you are just a support person while the "special race" is telling you what to do and leading the way? so what if its been done before? those that aren't happy can find something more "original". I'll play the SP and MP because I like the gameplay and I am happy to play as one of the "special people". I want to eventually develop my character into a godlike being, able to smite all enemies and be a serious badass. that's what people like me WANT. I dont know anyone that wants to be a second class citizen in their games.

^ There's sill quite a big gap between weak/useless and OP/messiah/always special.
In any case, I wonder if Remnants originate from Milky Way and their creators were close genetically to humans, hence humans can use/interact with the tech. I hope it's not just the Ryder.. that would be way too similar to Prothen cypher with Shep...

They called themselves remnants because they were All that were left, the part that fled from the Reapers. The Ryder twins can talk to the left over remnant machines because they are not actually Ryders! They are slightly altered Shepard clones! So they have the prothean cypher! Ryder dad is obviously a illusive man plant! Blond Harper is there obviously there to keep an eye on this whole crazy plan! They are all looking for where double stuff oreos come from.

So another episode in "humans most special in whole universe" saga lol? Many will not be happy I'm already sharpening my omni-pitchfork. Meh... who would be? Just look what "writing talent" BW has left these days. Third grade is pushing it. Mac most likely did not come up with it. It's Schlerf we're going to knock over the head with a few complaints if the story is indeed too ME1-esque in its template. As for the "writing talent" they're promoting their character Dr. Lexi who is written by Courtney Woods, their latest writer, who is herself a fangirl who married a husband who gave her a wedding ring with a Dragon Age meme on it -- you just know that's when BioWare's jumped the shark as a company when they start hiring people because they really like each other on a personal level. Given her output on The Descent DLC things ain't lookin' good. It wasn't abysmal but it was just... completely flat. You mean like when they hired Super MAC because most of the Edmonton team used to drink beers with him at the same pub?
