Yep. I heard about this. Unfortunately, we don't know any specific details about this "relationship menu" and what it looks like. I wonder how it tracks decisions, approval, etc. I'm wondering since they specify "crew" if that means your squad as well as everybody else on the Tempest? At the very least, it sounds like relationships are going to have a far greater impact in this game than any previous BioWare game.

It's better than DA:I if it at least shows the status. DA:I did have those strange cards that always changed depending on the scripted state before and after "loyalty" companion quests and I dunno, maybe they also do depending on approval. I don't think there'll be points to show the score in Andromeda either, but it could be something like "Vetra status: Liked" or something. It's imo better than basically having nothing in DA:I and then guessing every time it said "Cassandra Disapproves" how much it sank or if it was already at the bottom.

The approval system in DAI was pointless. I have no idea how much "Cassandra greatly approves" gave me compared to "Cassandra slightly disapproves." It was floating text with no context or meaning. At least now we'll be able to get a sense whether or not companions like us. Hopefully, it's a bit more specific than just saying "Liam: Hates you."

That would be cool too. Actually, that's all I needed in DA:I.
Do something. Crew: Cassandra Disapproves Special: Cassandra now hates you.

Sort of reminds me of the ability to track Hawke's personality by taking control of another party member and then talking to Hawke. This sounds very useful.

I don't care how my crew feels about me...only that they follow orders.
DA2 had only one tank from companions. DAO was the same for the vast majority of the game. I don't want my choices to be determined by how far a bar goes because of limited role choices within the squad.
Hasn't really been an issue in ME games though, I speak more generally and from the mindset of higher difficulty levels.

I'm not going to pay attention to this personally. I want to be surprised when the game gives me the opportunity to kill a Zevran again.

This would be great! I don't know what was going on in Inquisition -- IIRC, the devs at that time said they wanted it to feel organic and not tied to a number. But it *was* still tied to a number. The whole "Cassandra Greatly/Slightly Approves/Disapproves" had numerical values that affected relationships. All it did was hide the number which was silly so we couldn't automatically track.
With that said, MET did not have a numeric approval system so this will be interesting as to what it will do.

Well that's nice. I'm kind of hoping we'll also have some way to know when a specific squad member has new dialogue.

I'm of two minds on this.
On the one hand, I like the convenience of being able to see where you stand with your crew. It's nice to know which relationships I need to work on improving and to what extent they need work.
On the other, sometimes systems like this can make me feel like I'm playing to get positive numbers or approvals with my companions rather than actually playing with my companions (I'm not entirely sure that I'm explaining this all that well, but whatever).
I guess I'll just have to wait and see how this is implemented.

Interesting... makes it easier to know who will not stab you in the back and by that means who to and not to take on missions. Why do all Mike Gamble quotes get me thinking of music tracks:

It's better than DA:I if it at least shows the status. DA:I did have those strange cards that always changed depending on the scripted state before and after "loyalty" companion quests and I dunno, maybe they also do depending on approval. I don't think there'll be points to show the score in Andromeda either, but it could be something like "Vetra status: Liked" or something. It's imo better than basically having nothing in DA:I and then guessing every time it said "Cassandra Disapproves" how much it sank or if it was already at the bottom. I definitely agree. At least now we'll be able to get a sense whether or not companions like us. Hopefully, it's a bit more specific than just saying "Liam: Hates you."Off topic, but I think I would need to pause and compose myself if that flashed on the screen. I now sort of want companion affection level to be relayed in a humorous way if it gets too low. "Peebee hopes you embrace eternity with an Ardat Yakshi." "Cora now finds your face eminently punchable." "Jaal wishes you would take the Nomad on a long drive off a short pier."

Thank fuck there's something. This annoyed the hell out of me in DAI because it was so hard to keep track of who disliked what. The system itself was fine but it really needed a visible reference point.

You didn't have nothing in DAI. Companion greetings change depending on approval levels. I'd prefer not having any meter, myself. OTOH, actually having a relationship status is such an improvement for the series that I don't want to bitch about the implementation.

Cole's approval is also hard to track as he tends to do a lot of Easter eggs. Vivienne gets less bitchy when she rejects you.

I know Bioware said that they wanted to get away from the number heavy approval system of DA:O & DA2, but it was hard to track how any one companion felt about you in DA:I and decide if you are going in the right or wrong direction with them. Just a simple menu saying Vetra things you're cool and Liam thinks you're a dick, would be SUPER helpful.

As someone who had no problem whatsoever with the DA I approval system this is a rather curious decision. It just feels cheep whenever you put a 'bar' to how much someone likes or dislikes you and then especially how you can do artificial things to improve or detract from that bar.

I'm glad this sort or approval tracking has finally made its way into ME,as in the OT the fact everyone seemed to like you regardless bothered me a little as it made me feel as though Shep was some sort of cult icon or something along those lines.
The approval system in DA:I was ok, to track, but I would have preferred an on screen meter in the character profiles tab for clarity.
Anyhoo, that's just my thoughts on the subject.
