That is where I ended in my OP. It sucks because I was yesterday before this confident enough to pre-order and now... I don't know. Do I really cancel it?

I think the internet hate is really getting to you, I'll admit it's getting to me to. In my humble opinion you should take a break from doing internet research for this game until it comes out. That might be the best thing for you at this point. I'm considering doing that same but I know I probably won't.

Wait and see my friend. This pre-order BS is one of the things that are ruining gaming. I'm not a fan of nostalgia, but games are rushed into market nowadays, in part to meet pre-order sales projections made by executives far removed from the gamimg experience. And you are giving a blank check for a product that you have doubts on its final quality.

Don't listen to black-and-white demagoguery such as this, and ffs DO NOT STOP DOING YOUR OWN RESEARCH like this guy suggests. Valid criticisms are not "internet hate", and there are plenty of valid criticisms with what we've been shown so far. The game isn't a 10/10, but it's not going to be a 0/10 either. The truth is going to be somewhere in between. Which end of that spectrum it ends up being closer to, is where the speculation is. Nobody can tell you one way or the other anything absolute.

That is where I ended in my OP. It sucks because I was yesterday before this confident enough to pre-order and now... I don't know. Do I really cancel it? Never pre-order. The best thing is to wait for the early/in-progress reviews, usually on the same day as release, then decide whether it's worth $80 to you. Unless you have a shitternet connection, I fail to see why most people don't do this.

I agree. There is a lot of stuff over the last 2 weeks that has given me a lot of pause in terms of what my expectations should be. And it sucks because I want it to kick ass. To be honest, ever since the 4K demo where we finally saw what the game would look like when you were in control, my expectations sunk down to the "Is it just DA:I in space, then?" level

There's a fine line between valid criticism and just hating for the sake of hating. It's pretty obvious many people have crossed that line. Either way OP should use his better judgement. At this point I'm probably just going to wait for YouTubers to review the game. IMO that's the best way to go. I didn't pre-order this game, I don't pre-order. Period.

"Here is a dimly lit area and a minute of moving slowly" But the DAI in space thing is what is killing me. I had a sense of dread playing that game where I went "Is this going to be the new Bioware blueprint?" I don't have much in terms of hopes for the exploration demo this week because a 3 minute heavily edited video really isn't indicative of exploration in a game.

This is about as good as those "Hey, my game isn't working. Has this bug" posts on the Steam boards and the first 5 posts are "Works for me, scrub" Really adds to the conversation at hand.

The amount of work to get a Tech/Test or Beta or Preview to work is pretty significant and frankly I rather have them working on the game that I will be playing and not giving an out of date build for people to whine about because they had to lock that build weeks if not months ago.

wavebend@paulomedi I Know. I haven't pre-ordered a game in 2 years. Even if the game turns out to be unplayable online, based off how fun it looks to play even if the story is mediocre, I don't think I will regret my decision. I never regretted buying Halo:MCC. I always thought, they'll fix it eventually (only took 18 months) but I was happy to have the games all together. I just don't want a really bad MP launch that drives away all my friends.

That is where I ended in my OP. It sucks because I was yesterday before this confident enough to pre-order and now... I don't know. Do I really cancel it? Do you really think $80 is worth agonizing over? You've bought it. You've played it for 5 min. You hated it. You went on the net and ranted your soul out for a couple of days. Done. It's 80$. You can afford tossing it into trash once a year. But if you don't buy it on day one, you'd be trolling internet trying to peel the petals from that daisy from now till you buy it anyway. Or do you have something else to play for a year that is truly engaging enough that you are never going to look, and pick it up on sale? If yes, just go do it. Buy it in March 2018. It will be cheaper then regardless of how good or bad it is, plus will include a DLC or two. If I had anything I was burning to play this coming year, I'd wait. but I only have the hots for Andromeda. Witcher? No, thanks. Numenoria? It's Obsidian, wait till they patch it, then wait a year till they *really* patch it or go broke again. Horizon? Don't have PS4, and would not for a couple of years. And that's that for 2017.

They are scrambling to get it out the door, it's end of the fiscal year. Any later and it would be released in the next fiscal year. So do consider that. Obviously. The whole last minute polishing when they found out the facial animations are getting criticized says it all, really. The already established need for a day one patch because the game simply hasn't been polished sufficiently is a huge red flag that this game is being rushed. Day one patches are entirely usual, that's not a red-flag. Bugs in the Review Build need dealing with, and we understand many have. So-called 'derp face' is entirely non-critical as far as I'm concerned, particularly as we can customize. EA Access is going to answer so many questions, as it will involve more people than a beta ever could.

I have concerns, they are valid. Now I have to reassess those concerns against my faith in this game. That isn't a switch. This entire thread has been a process in me understanding whether or not I keep my pre-order or not. It was $68 actually but yes it does matter, I only allot myself a certain amount of video game purchases a year. I use to spend way too much. Throw $80 away. That is a case of exceptionally good beer. That is a case of Ballast Point Victory At Sea. Go learn the value of money.

All the above info + EA Access talk is good, stick, if not, cancel. Nothing risked nothing lost.

I learned pretty quickly that there's no such thing as good beer, at least not here in the States. I couldn't make it through my 2nd can without throwing up. Then when I turned 13 my friends Joe and Chris introduced me to Mad Dog 20/20, which didn't make me throw up but was too weak, then Trisha gave me some Jim Beam, which made me black out every time, then when I was 14 Wild Bill and his wife who lived in the alley behind my grandmother's house gave me some vodka, and the rest is history.

Dude, you're a little.... too invested it's slightly unhealthy. Personally, I care more for SP. Honestly, I will probably play a couple of hours of MP before getting bored of it. So servers and connectivity issues will not necessarily be a big problem for me -- but I know a lot of people love MP. Developers owe us nothing. They have a product, you like it, you purchase; you don't, you move on. We are not owed a multiplayer beta. It would be nice if we had, don't get me wrong, but you really have to chill out. What? No I am concerned, I must have literally pre-ordered the game during this announcement. If a developer says something, and they go back on it, that is a breach in trust. Fair. I pre-ordered because I'm a sucker for Bioware products (literally the only company I pre-order games from). Generally, yes, pre-order culture is hurting the quality of the video game industry in general. Honestly, man, my 2c, don't sweat it too much. It's gonna be a good game, maybe even a great one. Will it have issues and bugs? Most definitely. It sucks, I know, but these are things to be expected at launch for any video game. But even if you don't believe me, for the most part, pre-orders can be cancelled. Even if you bought it from Xbox Store, you can cancel for full refund prior to launch so, again, think it through if needed but just go with your gut. It's gonna be fun for all of us

Yes the agony. Oh the agony. I am conflicted so it must be AAAAAAAAAGONYYYYYYYYY! Why agonize? You've preordered already. People will play it (for real at Pax) Reviewers will be playing it and reviewing before launch. Set a date before launch, say March 17th. All the above info + EA Access talk is good, stick, if not, cancel. Nothing risked nothing lost. Oh those agony screams were sarcastic, sorry. I am not sure when my last date for cancel is which is something I should look into (EA Access might make that tricky with early access and all). Also this thread made me realize that my concern over shitty network isn't a deal breaker for me. It is just a concern that it will be another game that no one plays. Looking at you Titanfall 2. So I'm most likely not going to cancel (unless something else happens) it is just that this is the first time my faith was shaken in the quality of the game so i guess I got startled. Like a airline passenger sitting next to a man with a turban, or a soldier on 4th of july.
