If you've got around 2600 hours with nothing better to do, look me up sometime I'll do that. I've been saying that some time after launch I'm going to start an MP thread for those of us who are a little wary of doing MP because of lack of skill, fear of ridicule, or just shyness. I'm hoping we get a few people to try it together in a non judgmental zone. I think our motto will be something like: "We may fail, but we'll fail together." I and others may never try it again, but we could at least say why we don't want to do it again and know what we're missing. Most people are pretty good about it. I find its only in random PUGs that you'll get a rager. But when I play with people off this site or the old one, they're pretty good about not caring about skill too much as long as you're not bragging about being awesome when you're literal trash. I'm sure that you could find 2 or 3 people willing to run silver with you right off the bat and just help keep you alive while you're learning. And then once you have the basics they probably wouldn't mind taking you into gold so you get a lot more credits and again, help to keep you alive while you learn. Did that with a friend of mine. Got the idea from playing WoW years ago when you'd start a new character and immediately go to some mid level mission with your pals who could just plow through it so you level faster. Or you could hop into bronze to get a hang of it. Bronze is a pretty judgement free zone. Then find two or three people willing to help you level in higher difficulties. |

I'll keep an eye out for kind, experienced players. And you guys, look for the thread. There are at least a few people looking for noob groups. If there are people willing to help out who know what they're doing, so much the better. I've seen a lot of anti-newbie sentiment where they don't want to carry beginners. And that's fine, too. I've also been on the "being trashed" end more than once so it makes me wary. I'm willing to at least give it a whirl. Any help and advice is appreciated. But some of us just plain suck no matter how long we've been playing.  |

I was never a superstar player in me3, but I did put in about 700 hours, mostly pugging. Saw too many kick votes on new guys even in bronze matches... Where the fuck would they go to learn? There is no wood difficulty. |

You 'may' be right but you have defined the parameters of the discussion as being 'BioWare is full of shit and their reason is nonsense' which it might be but is far from a total conclusion. I don't think they are hiding anything performance wise re mp. I also think they do indeed think they have it all covered and that an additional beta will just be more work than it is worth. I also think there will be bugs they never dreamed of and things done by players they never dreamed of that will slip by them due to no beta.This is actually a fact. Want to learn how imbalanced/glitchy your game is? Put it in the hands of a large player base. People will be doing things that you thought impossible within a month. Also, another issue is the ambiguity of The Super Deluxe Edition. Nobody knows what's in those premium packs, why it's worth 30 extra dollars, and how the loot system works. |

It certainly doesn't help that the multiplayer's default search parameter is for Platinum. If you are new to the multiplayer, the significance of this may well be lost on you. (It's the absolute hardest difficulty). Moreso, Nightmare SP is equivalent to Silver MP, so even if you "turn it down a notch" to Gold, you are still in for more than you can handle.
When experienced players are sitting there waiting for their Gold and Platinum lobbies to fill up, and then in comes a Level 1 pug with a Common gun and no Equipment, who has no idea what's in store for them. Not only will that not be fun for the people carrying you, it will also NOT BE FUN FOR YOU. A lot of players will kick you in that circumstance. Personally I just let them do their thing, then they figure it out for themselves, and quit on Wave 4 in shame and embarassment.
Come to think of it, that might be worse than kicking them.

That is where I ended in my OP. It sucks because I was yesterday before this confident enough to pre-order and now... I don't know. Do I really cancel it? Do what you want. Not what others think. Everyone has an opinion. Anyone can write a reasonable argument supporting that opinion. Only you know what you want out of a game and where you're willing to spend your time and money. Decide for yourself instead of following others.  Yeah I decided to just roll the dice on this. I just really hope that I will be able to play multiplayer without getting dropped all the time. |
