I will try it and adapt.
There are a variety of solutions to the situation of those not wanting to be bound to a single profile or regrets their profile choice. It is been mentioned by devs at higher difficulties players will want to change their abilities and even profiles around based on their situation. The mechanic is part of the gameplay experience. Those who want to stick to just one profile will put themselves at a disadvantage. At that point it is less about choice and more about adaptability. Hopefully the profile switching is more of a recommendation than a requirement. In the PAX SP panel there was mentioning of different jump heights of profiles and ability to access areas of maps.

I still don't see what's to hate. You can spend the entire game with one profile and build all your favorites to be one class if you want. And the argument of "it kills replayability" doesn't land because you can replay many times and use a single different profile each playthrough if you want. More options are always better. It didn't destroy the game for those that liked to be locked in a class, but it's better for those of us that don't want to be. And lore wise speaking, what's stopping someone to learn all three forms of combat? If you are a biotic, suddenly you can't be an engineer and have advanced combat training? Now, strictly my opinion: The fact that having to explain this in-game is worse than not having at all. I mean, you need an AI or implants to allow you to do that? Ryder can't simply be a talented biotic with technician skills that has combat training? I mean, seriously? I agree entirely that it shouldn't require an added maguffin to be able to switch from biotics to tech powers. I'm hoping SAM has added bonuses and utility to the story. I think there's more going on there than we know. yeah I think there is a lore explanation for it we just don't know it yet and won't until we play the game I don't think. It'll likely be explained in the tutorials or whatever during that first mission or opening missions or whatever. Things like this usually are when a new mechanic is introduced in a game. Like for example later on your way to Skyhold for example in DAI when you unlock your focus abilities. As in DAO and DA2 we didn't have them and those powers and skills generally were a normal power before if those abilities were there before.

I, for one, like having all the freedom without any commitment or definition at the start of a game. Let me create all sort of crazy mixtures of skills, give me free re-specs and so on.
Having 12 skills and a multitude of combinations is great. I'll change favorites as often as I can.

I appreciate that change. However I don't see much use to have 12/3 unique abilities, that is a lot. Moreover switching profile add cooldown, requiring player that changes spec to have light equipment.
3 ability seems to be a bit short on use and I don't need 4 profile. I would have prefer 3 profiles with 4 abilities each, they would have been more meaningful.

I'm glad switching profiles/classes is available because there is nothing worse than getting half way through a game and finding out you chose the wrong class to try to get through your nightmare playthrough...yeah, I'm looking at you vanguard and ME2. I really don't see the problem with offering more options for people who might want them. As far as the Favorites thing is concerned, it's really something I have to try first before I can judge it. I can see the benefits but I need to experience it first-hand to see how smooth the transition is.

Everytime I think about it, I keep going back to Mordin's speech on 'limitations'. I'll try to keep an open mind, but not thrilled at the change. We'll see...

If a person wants to use the mechanic, it's there. If they'd rather pick three abilities and stick with those, then they can. If you prefer to be a non-biotic, then just stick with that--period. The choice is in your hands.
I don't plan to switch much, but I will likely have a variety of abilities, or consistently run with complementary squadmates.

I really like that we'll have access to all abilities. Allows a lot of experimentation for a lot of different set ups.
Not sure I'll use it "in-combat" that much, but I'll probs have different set ups for up-close, long range, depending what I'm currently doing or what tickles my fancy.

I don't like it, because the player's "class" will have no part when it comes to story. I really liked the little comments your crew sometimes made acknowledging that you're a biotic, it was cool. Plus I thought we'd see more of class specific interrupts like in the Omega DLC. But now I doubt it. IMO There is no uniqueness when it comes to classes anymore.

I think it's conceptually interesting. Not sure how much I'll use it or like it in practice, but as a rule of thumb I'm a fan of systems not rigidly locked into classes.

It sounds interesting, and I'll give it a try. Might not see much use early on, as I already have an idea about what three powers I'm going for.
I will probably use it more in NG+ or beyond, when I have everything unlocked.

Meh... I probably will not use it. When I pick a class I tend to stick to it. So do I normally. I think I wlil on MEA too for the most part as I do plan to go with either 1 class or a mix of 2 but certainly no more than that as I was going to go with a mix of Adept/Infiltrator for my first run. For the Peebee mission I suspect I'll lean more towards the infiltration side of my skills for example then when dealing with standard organic enemies I'll use my biotic powers for example. I may bend that rule a little bit for my first playthrough though while I learn my way around the game I think like for example I may take the Vanguards Biotic charge power and use it as a get out of jail type card if I get stuck or something but I'm only likely going to allow for that for my first playthrough or 2 while I master the game and then after that I'll likely stick to the 1 or 2 classes rule.

Well, since there are more then 3 active skills in any given skill class, I guess it'll be possible to have four favorites from one of them alone... if anything, my guess is I'll do that. Playing a full combat or tech character.

Just another way they removed an RPG element from an RPG game. Now you're space God on the battlefield akin to Kratos or Batman, and things like team synergy literally don't matter since you just are taking two banter-bot meat shields with you everywhere.

I think it'll just make the game too easy. There's just no way that the enemies will be able to deal with a player that can use every ability in the game.

More options > Less options.
And if you're not going to biotic charge while tactical cloaked, I don't even know what the hell the point of getting the game is.
