Seems to be a love it or hate it feature. Personally I like so far.

I'll use it because it's there, and three powers aren't enough. But right now I don't agree with it, and i'm not happy about it.
Final judgement reserved though.

Gameplay wise i am cool with it. Ryder is much more of a unwritten book as Shepard was.
I am curious however what their in Universe explanation will be. I hope it has a good story reason^^

I just hope the cool down between switching profiles improves as we level up.

Will stick to one class anyway because you know, it's cool to have weak points in combat so I have to use different tactics.

Seems to be OK (at least concept-wise). I'll report back after it has been in use for a while and I can make a better judgement...

I'm not even sure I know how is it supposed to work, lol. Spoiler-free demos were confusing (at best). I assume their intentions were good, but I'd rather have my set of skills back, really. (And as a potential K+M player I've got some extra concerns too. )

I'd prefer having all unlocked powers available at all times.
Since that's not an option, I expect I'm most likely to try to muddle through with 3 powers. Switching profiles like that has zero appeal to me.

I'm fine with all abilities being open although I'll stick to one traditional class I would think. Profiles are ok as a concept and it's great for people who want more variety.
Power wheel should never have gone though. Having to use favourites to access more than 3 abilities is bad.

I think it's smart. Why the heck could my biotic Shep not use cloak or a Sniper (until she found one on the Collector ship and suddenly knew how)? I honestly think it makes more sense this way. Just say Ryder is biotic canonically, but can have specialized in other things, like tech or weapons. Why not?

I really like the idea, i think it could really improve variety and replayability.
My only worry is that I don't want Ryder to feel unstoppable. Having distinct classes allowed for distinct limitations to be set, and it's much harder to put limitations in place when everything is available to the player. I suppose with this system, limitations revolve around skill point allocation. Are you going to spread your skills thin, or focus on a few, powerful abilities?

Switching profiles like that has zero appeal to me. To be fair I've just played through the trilogy as an infiltrator. In 2/3 I only used 3 powers 90% of the time. I had incinerate, energy drain and cloak. Set an ammo power at the start (which isn't a skill now anyway) and switched incinerate for hacking on geth missions.

I don't think that this "feature" is a positive thing for a game that still pretends to be an RPG. There he is, can always count on you to give some positive feedback.

Profiles are fine because they're just stat bonuses for whoever wants that line of stat bonuses; it's the locking us to three powers and then having to use favorites to access more in combat--thus putting everything on a cooldown--that I'm iffy about.
If I have Charge, Overload, and Concussive Shot mapped and I want to use Throw once to knock some dude off of a cliff for shits and giggles as a final "hah, I just kicked your ass", I don't want to have to swap to a different set of three powers, wait for a cooldown to go away, and then use the power since by that time, someone else in the squad could've taken my satisfaction away.
I, at the very least, want to be able to pull up a wheel, select throw, have the game unpause and Ryder use throw. At most, especially since we don't control squad powers anymore, I want access to six or eight abilities at once.
I guess I'll have to wait for a mod for that.

I still don't see what's to hate.
You can spend the entire game with one profile and build all your favorites to be one class if you want. And the argument of "it kills replayability" doesn't land because you can replay using a single different profile for each playthrough as well.
More options are always better. It didn't destroy the game for those that liked to be locked in a class, and it's better for those of us that don't want to be.
And lore wise speaking, what's stopping someone to learn all three forms of combat? If you are a biotic, suddenly you can't be an engineer and have advanced combat training at the same time?
Now, strictly my opinion: The fact that having to explain this in-game is worse than not having at all. I mean, you need an AI or implants to allow you to do that? Ryder can't simply be a talented biotic with technician skills that has combat training? I mean, seriously?

personally I'm more interest in the using different powers with in a skill set then switching skill sets... plus looks like anyone can use charge not just vanguards which may mean I'll be playing more as a sentinel then vanguard.

I do have my reservations but I'l wait til I've had a go at playing this game before criticising it. As I ma yfind ways of working around any shortcomings

There he is, can always count on you to give some positive feedback. Someone needs to provide some honest criticism. Can't leave you guys to make this forum into a hugbox for Bioware. I think we may have different definitions of the term "honest criticism"

I agree entirely that it shouldn't require an added maguffin to be able to switch from biotics to tech powers. I'm hoping SAM has added bonuses and utility to the story. I think there's more going on there than we know.

I'm intrigued by the mechanic, but I'll have to get to the combat myself before deciding whether or not I like it.
