The auto-cover system is absolute garbage. While I like the fact that I can toggle handedness with Alt and use LHA, getting sucked into cover at any corner is decidedly not fun.

I imagine it will get better over time. I had a time where I wanted to get into cover, but failed miserably and died. As with all new mechanics, I'm sure we will figure it out in the end.

For the record, the people complaining that you need to get character cards to get skill points are wrong. You get Xp from playing matches, and when you level up you get points that you can dump into your characters skill tree, just like before. There are actual problems with MP (like the rubber band fest that I just experienced) - let's not complain about things that aren't true.

There are actual problems with MP (like the rubber band fest that I just experienced) - let's not complain about things that aren't true. You get skill points by leveling up AND with "character" cards. As you can see in one of my former post, I screenshoted my Asari Huntress who is level 1 but also "level X" (card-wise) and I got 23 skill points from the cards (while my Asari is still level 1). In yesterday's stream, BioWare confirmed you get skill points in cards, not only customization options. Watch it; or experience it yourself (bought myself a bunch of Premium Packs and saw it on more than one kit, that's not a bug).
Now we don't know yet if those extra 23 points granted through cards are meant to be used to FULLY level your kit or not (as in every skill tree taken instead of 4 out of 5, like in ME3MP). We need someone to get to level 20 to know that.
I never said you only get skill points by having cards.
Sure, but other people got that impression (or seemed to). I'm just trying to clarify.

So some questions:
- Spawns, sounds like enemies spawn all over the place thus making them come from very direction as opposed to one area that spawns a bunch of enemies? - The maps, do they naturally filter a team apart from each other? That is what made some me3 maps tougher (Condor) in that moving around the map split people up from each other. - Strategy, at the very least go around in pairs if not the whole group and keep moving? - You guys need to git gud fast so you can carry me when I finally get the game.

You still get skill points through leveling. So you can still level up a character normally? Say if I finally unlocked that Ultra-Rare Salarian Operator, I can still level him up to 20 and spec into powers (like classic MEMP) even if I only have a single card to this kit? What's all this talk about getting skill points for unlocking additional cards of the same kit then? No, you still have to level the character itself. The leveling works like dragon age...character not class.

Spawns seem more sporadic, and not enough consistent gameplay to tell you for me. Maps: Yes, enemies come from all directions, and elevations. Strategy: Yes, although it seemed the people I was playing with had zero interest in speaking.

I prefer them not talking over the amounts of people playing with always open mic with it set right next to their speakers or ones that pop and crack so much it sounds like the 4th of July. At this point I've just been muting everyone . That reminds me of how annoying it is to mute people. It works fine in the lobby but you have to up and down arrow when moving to the annoying person's name while in game. I've found it enjoyable but so far everything feels like a peashooter and doesn't seem to have true impact. I'm feeling like I'm lagging even when I'm the host.

Remember to check your crates!
I had lots of free crates available, so this has helped some. I also took one for the team and bought enough points to open 20 Premium crates.
I can confirm that each rank of a class will get you two extra points, even at level 1.
Unfortunately I didn't yet get an assault rifle that I like using, but I do see there is a M-99 SABER variant (hard hitting single shot semi auto with scope - called Sandstorm)

Are melee weapons an option in MP (as in they have their own equipable slot for different choices)? After all the mention of myriad melee weapon varieties, I'm wondering if that pertains to MP as well, and if so, can we slot mods onto the weapon types?
Also, are melee combo chains still a thing? I saw mention that over-cover-grabs are no longer a part of the game, but can you still chain together a series of melee strikes at least?

My first impressions of the multiplayer were, well, kind of lackluster unfortunately. I'm sure it will improve and I will get used to it and learn to love it. Perhaps my expectations were too high or I was spoiled with such an amazing ME3. Playing it last evening, I felt that I wasn't as amazed by the sound of a biotic explosion and I have not yet figured out how to Asari dodge... these are just a couple things that I find made ME3 so elegant. I found the MP crowded, and clunky and keep getting stuck trying to jet pack jump. I did unlock the Asari adept with annihilation-like powers and had a hint of the glory of the old days. Unfortunately after 3 hours played, I'm not yet truly woo'd. My wife even asked if everything was okay and why I wasn't super excited playing... The joy of unlocking weapons and characters is still there. I love that they kept much of that the same. Anyway, that was my little shpeal. I'm sure in 3 days I'll prob post about how much I love it.

I'd doubt it considering one of the classes has a katana by default. But hopefully as it'd add some interesting combos. I only know that the basic human adept does NOT have a melee chain, they just spam the same biotic punch. And the tracking is also pretty poor. Not sure about other classes.

Lame, though I can sort of understand why selectable melee weapons aren't a thing if they weren't in ME3MP. I am completely baffled by the removal of heavy melee strikes and combo chains though. I hope that is one of things BioWare will add in via DLC in the future then, along with the addition of melee weapons as a separate equipable slot.

To anyone who has trouble getting into it: Take a human vanguard, slap a shotgun on it and go nuts. Charge works incredibly well off-host and the fast-paced lateral movement lends itself well to that playstyle. And chaining charge, nova, shotgun blasts, melee and flying melee strikes together is a load of fun.
So far this has been the most fun kit I've played in MEAMP.

-The guy with the gold bubble who is literally invincible and teleports around the map sync killing everybody and takes 5 minutes of the entire team focus firing him is complete and total horseshit. Were you playing against the Remnants? Assuming so because that sounds like the Ascendant (I think was the name?). If nothing has changed since I played against that faction, there should be a little orb circling around the dude... a bit like Geth Prime's combat drone. You have to destroy that orb to drop his golden bubble, then you can damage him for a brief time before he puts the bubble and a new orb back up. Rinse and repeat. Unless you encountered a bug where the orb is destroyed but the bubble doesn't drop and then you're stuck with no way to kill him. I will just consider him the new Geth Prime and rocket him on sight

Folks, sorry if it were already covered. But my understanding is that you need to hold down buttons for the powers to work differently. I am wondering for how long and can you move at the same time? I am playing with a gaming mouse, so sort of worried that I will have troubles holding down the side-button for long particular if I am using a gun that is like an Arc, so the LMB has to be pressed down at all times to give you a better shot.
Is it actually convenient to play with a mouse side-buttons LMB/RMB?

Were you playing against the Remnants? Assuming so because that sounds like the Ascendant (I think was the name?). If nothing has changed since I played against that faction, there should be a little orb circling around the dude... a bit like Geth Prime's combat drone. You have to destroy that orb to drop his golden bubble, then you can damage him for a brief time before he puts the bubble and a new orb back up. Rinse and repeat. Unless you encountered a bug where the orb is destroyed but the bubble doesn't drop and then you're stuck with no way to kill him. I will just consider him the new Geth Prime and rocket him on sight Amen, brother. I guess we found a new banshee.
