This is nothing like the ME3 debacle in the slightest. You doom sayers are making everything seem worse than it is. All the criticisms (aside from the CC) have been the same thing for the past month or two. So I doubt the devs are overly surprised at the reception this games receiving. Many people are just going into the game salty or wanting to hate it because of the ME3 ending. Honestly just chill and form your own opinions about the game as if it wasn't made by bioware and as if the OT didn't exist. You might surprise yourself. Difference is that the ME3 controversy only came after release, and none of the reviewers had picked up on any ending trouble. The problem now is that while there is a lot of good impressions, there are also some bad impressions that seem pretty consistent across the field, like animations, CC, etc. And these impressions are coming from both players and the media. I don't remember any previous Bioware game getting this sort of bad attention before release, so it may be cause for concern. Still, to each his own opinion. I'll be making my own on March 21st. This. Set aside your loyalties to Bioware and even Mass effect. There's a lot of design issues that have plagued it sadly |

I bet they are already planning for upcoming fixes to patch up problems. At least as far as it pertains to bad animations in cut-scenes, it's not as easy as some may think.
I don't know what is actually required to fix something like dead expressions, floating weapons, or just awkward movements (assuming that they will even bother to do it), but I doubt it's an easy or a short process.

Might be another DA2. We'll see.
Haven't played it yet though but there's already 3 things I've heard about that are nightmare stuff:
- awful CC
- no companion customization
- fucking planet scanning (of all things)
Funny though all those 3 things have been something I've disliked about former ME games as well. Dragon Age is better, confirmed.

I know. It's why I bet they have been polishing it since going gold to cut down on time. I'd be honestly surprised if at release date these problems will be fixed. There is a patch already coming upon release. I doubt it will fix everything. Within a few weeks we will get a second big patch. |

Lots of CC complaints and much of it valid.
But I just spent a while watching a stream of someone playing a custom male Ryder and he looked amazing, like Commander Riker but much better, and really fitting the voice.
Loved it and gave me some hope.
Saw some awesome (and much more fitting-looking than the default) female Ryders too.

Well as I was saying in another thread, I think this wouldn't be a great CC for making alts. Its strangely primitive looking and options limited. Advanced and open enough to make good stuff, so there you go, yay - but to people getting more used to many options, it still may look like Bioware lags and lags and lags behind. |

I'm thinking there's a specific subset of Mass Effect 'fans' that really hope Bioware is panicking, because they still cry themselves to sleep over the ME3 ending.
Which, and I'm repeating myself here, was a wonderfully poetic ending to a larger than life story. But yeah, gamers, entitlement, whining. It's part of the scene now. Bah.

That's fine and fair but most people went into the game already hating it. My problem is with people who just go some guy I watched a video on this game dislikes it so it must be bad and i should tell LITERALLY everyone its a pile shit. Eeesh I don't want to be in their shoes. This is really unprecedented for a Bioware game to be getting a lot of heat by both players AND critics, before the game is even released. News of the game being a mess is spreading on the internet. While I'm sure plenty of people will like it (hell maybe I will), there seems to be a ton of people who don't so far, and that includes critics. I have to wonder what tomorrow is going to be like for them. Mac Walters is probably having PTSD flashbacks of the ME3 ending debacle. But this time it's their whole game. |

Tbf I am kind of tired of seeing people make a big deal out of glitches and bugs seeing as this game for me has been running a lot better than a lot of other AAA titles at launch. Like even The Witcher Three released buggier than this unless I have somehow managed to avoid most of them. That said the facial animations issue is like one of the worst cases I have ever seen, some of the characters look like they are supposed to be robots or something.  |

Critics take themselves too seriously. I really couldn't give a shit about what a couple of streamers and journalists from RPS have to say, their opinion is their opinion, and I think their opinions are whiny and irrational.
in other news. No matter how much they say it isn't, MEA is a reboot of the franchise. it's starting over from next to nothing and trying to rebuild a fanbase.
I think a lot of people are just salty over either becoming over-attached to the shepard story, or they're still salty over the ME3 ending and that's carrying over here.
