Aside from my own criticisms (limited CC, tedious star cluster map mechanics, clunky menu UI), I enjoyed my time, for the most part. I feel like the time limit really hampered the overall experience though, so I plan on starting over again at launch, to play at my own pace. It also doesn't help that the game introduces a lot of in-depth gameplay mechanics (profiles, crafting, strike teams, oh my!) in a relatively short span of time, and having a clock ticking down possibly made my perception of things more jumbled. I felt a bit overwhelmed. Playing the full game will give me the opportunity to judge these things on their own merit. This is exactly how I felt. I was overwhelmed by combat mechanics and the maps of various areas, but I did not want to spend any time reading up on the mundane details with the timer breathing down my neck. I loved and enjoyed the game though. Played until the client shut it all down at the 10 hour mark.

While there are definitely some shortcomings that the game suffers from (a restrictive CC and awkward facial animations), I absolutely had a blast playing through my first 10 hours of Mass Effect Andromeda. In fact, it felt more like two hours at best, and I can't wait to get back into the swing of things and finish up work on Eos. I spent most of my time exploring every nook and cranny and scanning like a madman, so I didn't even finish the story that was available in the trial. I am absolutely loving the new combat and traversal with the jump jet is fun and feels really good. I've been playing on Insanity and it's absolutely a blast and actually a challenge. My only minor complaint would be the stupidity of your squadmates, as they tend to have a propensity for suicidal actions. I also really feel that the Nomad suffers due to not having any weapons. It just seems like a missed opportunity I'm constantly reminded of every time I drive it. Overall, I'm already addicted to this game and I can't wait to invest 100 of hours finding everything. I was also really impressed by how fast the load screens are! It's night and day from the nightmare loading of DAI. I haven't played it yet, but I'm excited to. Was really worried about the negative press but it seems to be overblown. Also, I realized you are the former Revan Reborn! Considering most of the negative press is focusing on the limited CC and the less than stellar facial animations (two things we've been aware of for some time), a lot of the negative attention is overblown. People love to focus on the negative even though the game has A LOT of positives. Indeed! I wanted a change of pace with my profile! Anyways, out of curiousity, is it possible for console (peasants) to run their internet through smartphone or PC? And If they can, could they use VPN service on said device, if they wanted early access? No idea. I have a feeling Microsoft and Sony would probably take issue with you trying to circumvent release dates, however. I wouldn't be surprised if trying to use a VPN on consoles violated both of their Terms of Services. I definitely agree that a lot of systems were chucked at us in a very short amount of time. The time limit certainly didn't help things, although I didn't let it bother me and went at my own pace regardless. There isn't a lot of explanation for many of these features. It seems a lot of it will just be trial and error early on. What BioWare should have done is have a time limit cap only on MP so players can't progress through it too much. The lock on story prevented players from progressing in single player, so having a time limit on that really didn't make any sense. Aside from my own criticisms (limited CC, tedious star cluster map mechanics, clunky menu UI), I enjoyed my time, for the most part. I feel like the time limit really hampered the overall experience though, so I plan on starting over again at launch, to play at my own pace. I loved and enjoyed the game though. Played until the client shut it all down at the 10 hour mark. Likewise. I'm not sure if I'm going to restart my character or not, but that time limit was definitely a constant presence that detracted from the trial. Especially when you get to the final hour, the constant notices (at least on Origin) was incredibly distracting. MEA just isn't the kind of game that you can really package into a 10 hour trial. The game is just too large with far too much content. Either way, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the game regardless of that time limit.

The 10 hours came to an abrupt and unwelcomed end all too soon.I really did enjoy myself in spite of the bugs which were irksome but tolerable(they have 3 weeks to roll some patches out or i will be leaving flaming bags of dog shit on Biowares doorstep)

Still seeing the poll at mostly Yes (currently 103 yes and 9 no). that tells me despite seeing hate and venom and vitriol and a lot of criticism, the overall feeling is that people LIKE the game. Still so similar to D3 forums where the constant hate posters spend hundreds and thousands of hours playing, complaining all the way... "I HATE pizza so much... Yes, I want 2 Large Meat Lovers (wink, wink) and a small Diet Coke deliver asap, thanks." lol Friggin internet where the most obnoxious just feel the need that they have to impose their opinion on everyone. Will watch a youtube video about the game and the likes will be outpacing the dislikes 5 to 1 but the comments section will be filled with haters squaking their opinion.

Luckily, I didn't notice too many of those during my playthrough. Friggin internet where the most obnoxious just feel the need that they have to impose their opinion on everyone. You'd be surprised what a vocal handful of individuals are capable of doing. They'll take what is generally a liked product and depict it as the worst thing ever to exist. The poll, alone, and I believe most fans of Mass Effect, actually enjoy the game overall though.

I've only played a few hours, but by then I already knew I was going sink hundreds of hours into the game.
And that was also why I quit, because I can't save my progress anyway (trial on PC, full game on PS4)

And that was also why I quit, because I can't save my progress anyway (trial on PC, full game on PS4) That's a bummer, but I can understand why you'd stop playing. On the bright side, you'll have a leg up on others who didn't have access to the free trial on the PS4. It's always nice to be a bit prepared for a game of this magnitude. Otherwise, it could be quite overwhelming.

Spent the last few minutes of my trial in character creation. Aside from the obvious problems, I loved every minute of it. Really looking forward to full release now.

You know that Bioware were pretty much done when they became a part of EA right ? but I still like them. They have not fully giving up and even if their games like this one is catering to fast paced action players on a console, they still invoke a few RPG elements into the games and story is often good. If you want real RPG you would not buy any of the games from the big pubs anyway

Yes
Don't care about facial animations, because gameplay and atmosphere is important for me. I like such games, where you can explore something. ME 3 was too much action movie and not enough game.

Agreed. ME3 is actually my favorite out of the trilogy, but I did not like how linear and railroaded the game was. I missed the sense of exploration and vastness that ME1 had, so I'm glad MEA is bringing that back in a major way. It actually really felt good to explore alien worlds. I never really had that sense of being on strange planets in ME2 and ME3 because it was so dev-driven.

what about maps? are they interesting to explore? and side quests? are they boring like in DA:I? collect thousands of items? We were only able to see the prologue and the first major planet. Personally, I was enjoying exploration. It reminded me a lot of ME1, except there were actually interesting things to find and pursue. The world seemed pretty large, but the trial had us somewhat confined due to environmental hazards that would prevent us from exploring too far outside of the Critical Path. Side quests are what you would expect from Mass Effect. Some of it is fetch quests while others are collecting items or completing certain tasks. I didn't personally have any issue with them as I plan on exploring everything anyway. They are just an extra incentive to go around and try different things in the game. I definitely was not getting a DAI vibe in this game. It really does feel like a combination of ME1's exploration with ME3's combat and ME2's character development.

I liked the game with my 10 hour trial, I was sold. I was also far to distracted with the story to pay attention to any of the issues it had.
Currently playing ME3 MP, Its not as good as andromeda's version though. Biotic Krogan that I unlocked I spent 4 hours of multiplayer non-stop the other half was Single Player, I am jumping back to multiplayer until I get my fill then head back to Single Player to contiune exploring and doing the story.
Multiplayer on Andromeda is so addicting as the exploring is.

OK...this thread made me buy the game. I'd like to know how the writing is, however. There wasn't much about that in here. I've heard of some "hilariously bad" writing but if that happens rarely, and doesn't affec the protagonist, I'll be able to live with it.
Also, Does the world make sense? I watched someone playing the first 45 minutes and was rather put off by that off-hand comment about the Milky Way being old news, as if 95% of it hadn't remained unexplored in the MET. The answer to the question of why we explore faraway places rather than closer ones is, of course, because we can and we're curious, but I expect a little awareness of their own reality from the characters, especially if they're explorers.

I wanted to play single player so bad I didn't even consider using some of my 10 hour trial time to test the MP. OK...this thread made me buy the game. I'd like to know how the writing is, however. I haven't seen any "hilariously bad" writing myself. The game starts off with a bang and you are instantly sucked into the action. Things move really fast early on and you never get bored. I'd say the pacing is really great and it's not long until the rest of the game opens up to you. Obviously, it's a matter of personal opinion, but I have enjoyed everything I've played of the single player so far and I'm looking forward to getting back into the game. So far I think BioWare has done a great job of justifying our presence in Andromeda and really explaining why people decided to make this journey. Everybody has their own personal reasons for why they went to Andromeda, and you can even have your own personal reason for why your Ryder decided to go. I don't think you'll be disappointed by this new shift in setting, as I believe most folks who played the trial are rather unified in believing the story was very enjoyable. The gaming press is far more harsh and critical, but I've never valued their opinion in games anyway.
