Why they matter: Strike Teams are one of the few ways (only way?) to get Mission Funds. You need Mission Funds to buy gear and respecs, and the time available to buy specific gear is limited. For example, right now there is a Juggernaut Shield available for 120 MF. This is only available for the next 13 days, after that who knows if it will be available again. Anyone know if these time sensitive gear is available through crate unlock or only purchasable with mission funds? Gear can only be acquired with MF. They are not in the packs.

Threw together a spreadsheet with the positive and negative traits as well as mission traits. Also in spoiler block below if you can't get to Google Drive for whatever reason. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1x4-s9-jqZIJ0gWlTSe7YHf2ZtXS-rYmgxQe9kYvi63g/edit?usp=sharingStrike Team Traits - Positive Effectiveness When Bloodthirsty Elite Fearless +10 Grizzled Veteran +5 Heroic Hostage Rescue Specialist Intelligent Kett Specialist +10 Lucky +5 Nighttime Operator Outlaw Specialist +10 Precise Remnant Specialist +10 Rugged Skirmisher +5 Stealthy +10 Silent and Deadly Virtuous +10 Daring
Strike Team Traits - Negative Effectiveness When Careless -10 Corruptible -10 Bribe Attempt (?) Hero Complex -10 Kett Hysteria Outlaw Hysteria Remnant Hysteria Xenophobia Ill Prepared Raucous
Mission Traits Alien Presence Bribe Attempt Enemies Everywhere Hostage Situation Kett Key Intelligence Component Nighttime No Room for Error Outlaw Poor Weather Conditions Remnant Scary Silent and Deadly We Need a Hero I'm keeping the sheet locked down for now. You can go in-game (*not* in the app) to see when the strike team apply -- haven't had time to do that yet but found the general format on reddit, see www.reddit.com/r/MECoOp/comments/6159mk/mea_multiplayer_apex_missions_launch_today_new/The format is "(strike_team_trait) (bonus) when (mission_trait)" or for example "Stealthy +10 when Silent and Deadly". I suspect the +5 traits (Grizzled Veteran, Lucky, Skirmisher, ...) apply all the time which is why they are only +5 and not +10. Negative traits presumable work the same but in reverse, for example "Corruptible -10 when Bribe Attempt." (This is an assumption, not verified in-game yet.) = = = Will post more later about success chances. You can look at the spreadsheet, second tab, for the raw data.

I can add one positive: Tough. Didn't get any negative yet.
My Juliet team had it from inception. Kinda ironic.
They did manage to successfully complete a Gold Mission with a 12% chance of success. So I guess they are tough.

My turian team just failed a bronze mission with 95% success rate... That happened to me too with Salarians. Then my Turians won a Gold mission with a 12% success rate. I'll take it.

Still entering and mulling data but I can confirm:
You *can* get negative traits from a failed, non-Apex mission.
In back-to-back Gold mission failures my Zulu team picked up Hero Complex (-10) and Careless (-10).
= = =
Rough grid of XP payouts so far:
non-Apex difficulty... failure... success... samplesize Bronze... ???... 8250-17100... N=2 Silver... 2970... 29700-33000... N=3 Gold... 13320-14040... ???... N=4
Apex difficulty... failure... success... samplesize Bronze... (no data) Silver... ???... 82,500... N=1 Gold... (no data)
Thoughts and Observations (tenative based on small samples): * mission XP payout is somewhat variable without a difficulty tier * failed mission pays out 10% of what success would have * failed Gold mission XP is roughly equivalent to successful Bronze XP! * HUGE bonus for Apex mission XP

Question about gear: where can I find MP gear to buy with MF? I don't remember seeing that in the Store. The best use for MF after you have 2 Strike Teams is really save up to buy MP gear?

Adding more traits. Do we know what any of these impact or are they just pluses and minuses on the balance sheet?
Positive: bloodthirsty 10 tough 5 hostage rescue specialist 10 kett specialist 10 fearless 10 skirmisher 5 virtuous 10
negative: night blindness -10 careless -10
Also, I notice that we get new missions later in the day. I am not sure if this is based on a 24 hour timer, what expires during them (to bring them back) or if we get more missions as the day progresses. Right now I have only a few gold ones available and my teams only get about 10% approximately at success. Fails gives such small xp and do eventually give some negative traits that to continue sending them on failed missions doesn't feel smart.
And it doesn't seem like having more than 3 teams max makes sense given the amount of missions we get seems to be small unless at some point we start getting more of them to make it so that having more teams is beneficial so that we can complete the most missions possible. They don't take long enough to warrant that.

They don't take long enough to warrant that. Actually, with 2 teams I can do all available bronze/silver missions (even including some failures). So, in my opinion it only makes sense to have 3 teams when you have at least one good enough to do gold missions.

And if a mission success is low, doesn't matter. send them anyway to increase the team XP.

Observations from my data.
Sometimes Level Makes Sense and Sometimes It Doesn't Makes sense: Bronze mission, no traits relevant to either team Level 13: 92% success Level 14: 93% success Level 15: 94% success +1 level = +1 success
Does Not Make Sense Silver mission, Outlaw Specialist trait is relevant Level 13: 78% success Level 14: 81% success <-- SAME TEAM as level 13 (leveled up in between checking) +1 level = +3 success
Still does not make sense: Gold mission, no traits relevant Level 13: 11% success Level 14: 13% success +1 level = +2 success
(so Gold increment is less than Silver increment which kind of works, but both are more than Bronze increment? WTF?!)
Ze Traitz, Zhey Do Nothink! Gold mission vs. team with Stealthy and Outlaw Specialist (SAME TEAM in both cases) Remnant, No Room for Error, We Need a Hero: 29% success Outlaw, No Room for Error, Silent and Deadly: 29% success (expect MUCH HIGHER due to double-bonuses from Outlaw Specialist and Stealthy)
But Other Times Traits Work Exactly How You'd Expect Silver mission with Outlaw, No Room for Error, Bribe Attempt both teams have Outlaw Specialist vs. team with no other relevant traits: 88% vs. team with Corruptible: 78% (exactly as expected due to negative impact of Bribe Attempt)

Still entering and mulling data but I can confirm: You *can* get negative traits from a failed, non-Apex mission. In back-to-back Gold mission failures my Zulu team picked up Hero Complex (-10) and Careless (-10). Yep, I think you can get positive or negative. I know I got a negative and a positive trait on one team at the same time. But I think negative might be more common with failed. I'm just not sure if it is worth it to keep sending teams out on missions with under 30% of success. It looks like the team price keeps going up. I could swear I paid less for my second than my third. And I am pretty sure my fourth costs more. A fourth team will cost me 120 MP IIRC. But I think my third only cost me around 60- 80. If that is the case and if the missions only give 5-10 MP as a rule, sending on golds when they have a low chance of success just for a shot at success and or low level XP might not be worth it if you have bigger odds of racking up negative traits which lower your chance of success on future missions. At least that is how it looks to me. From what I can tell, it looks like if keep throwing them in low success rounds you could end up with a team that has too many negative traits which you would then have to retire if their success gets that low. I threw all mine into another round of golds to see how it goes. I think I have done around five golds and gotten a few negative traits so far. Chance of success is around 15%. I wonder if chance of success has anything to do with negative trait acquirement?

Strike Team costs appear to scale linearly: 1st team free 2nd team 40 MF 3rd team 80 MF 4th team 120 MF
Not enough data to make any judgements about how frequently you get dinged with a negative trait on a failed mission.

Another negative trait for you: Berserker, -10. I have it on my careless but stealthy team of grizzled remnant specialists. I think it applies to hostage situations only. Frankly, I think it should be a positive trait too. If I ever get a krogan team I'm just going to send them on gold missions and accumulate negative traits. I'll probably get Timid first. /

Last random update for today. Since I started tracking yesterday, 12 missions completed.
5 successes, 7 failures. (These are spread all over Bronze/Silver/Gold and Apex/Non so don't read too much into this. Still a very small sample.)
Of the 7 failures, 2 dinged me with negative traits. Both were Gold, Non-Apex for what it's worth. This is not counting a bunch of failures I had before I started tracking, probably another 7-10? which resulted in 1 negative trait. So let's say 3 negative traits out of 14-17 failures?
= = =
Also FWIW, since I started using the app on the 20th I have accumulated 160 MF (not counting the 40 you start with). Spent/wasted 100 MF on strike team equipment, currently saving up for Juggernaut Shield.
Anyway 160 MF / 4 days = 40 MF per day. This is with two teams going and doing pretty much every mission possible regardless of success chance.

Claiming Crates in SP is done at the Strike Team terminal on Nexus. To find the terminal look for the Turian named Tiran Kandros. He'll give you a talk about his strike teams--which you've already been deploying for several days. It maybe possible to also claim reward on board the Tempest, at the Strike Team terminal there. Not sure, haven't checked.
When you're on the the terminal screen, look at the top of the screen for an icon of a box/crate.
Incidentally, I just went to the Nexus in SP to claim my crate rewards for strike missions thus far. Without having done any Gold Strike missions yet, I got a tonne of stuff which included the Ultra rare N7 Pirana shotgun (Wish I got this in Multiplayer!!!), Sidewinder Pistol, Carnifex Pistol, plus a whole bunch of credits, research points, and resources. Took me about 5 minutes to open all the 'crates', cos you have to do it one at a time.
Since starting out in the App, I've made 175 Mission Funds, which includes the initial funds you begin with, which I used to buy a second team. Since then I've bought the Juggernaut Shield, and am close to having enough for the Ammo Capacity Armor as well.

So, apparently, you can get a positive trait for a failed mission. That was a nifty surprise.
Also, what happens if you do an APEX mission while the strike team is still on it? Does it get kicked out if you complete it?

PSA: don't buy Strike Team equipment! Most of it is only useful on specific types of missions. There's a handful of equipment that is generally useful but I doubt whether the MF investment is actually worth it. See below for potato quality pictures (sorry, was late/early at night/morning). I will transcribe this all into my Google Sheet eventually.

I can't seem to get strike missions to work anymore. When logged into the app, and not into the game, it thinks I am trying to use the app concurrently with the game. That is not true.
When I am in the game (multiplayer) and try to start a strike mission with a strike team, the game session disconnects. Can't get this to work anymore. Anyone else experience this?
