I actually think the world building is the main strength of the game, which is weird considering its Bioware. The weak link is the main story and some of the characters, not companions, but "I can't believe my face is that tired Addison". Then again i find all the things they added Interesting, and there is some nice exploration and questing going on. Way better than Inquisition and it retains the Mass Effect feel for me. A shame that you didn't get into it, are you going for a refund? No refund no, I got the game cheap when EA did some mistake with the origin sales and I've played more than 30 hours . I'll play a bit of multiplayer from time to time. As for way better than Inquisition, they fleshed out the ideas of Inquisition which is good but one more "why did you get to Andromeda " question and I would have thrown myself out of the airlock. I actually enjoyed Inquisition, game had big flaws but I love DA lore so even reading codex would have kept me going. In Andromeda I just stopped reading and when there were a npcs to talk to I felt like dying inside because I didn't feel like it anymore. That's why I stopped and watched the ending on Youtube...I wanted to know how it would end at the very least. I also did not care much for companions , but that's always been more or less the case for me in ME. Glad you're enjoying yourself.

i don't know where you are getting this no emotion from. My Ryder has gotten to show off emotion at that particular event numerous times... Maybe you just did not pick the right dialog options? lol, Do you know what Ryder says? This is the exact quote, you have two options but I assume you didn't go douche bag and say I never knew my dad. "He made the ultimate sacrifice, he got the team out of danger, we all owe him for that." Then your character says, "What are we doing in SAM Node?" One of the most important people in your life dies, and you give them a single sentence. And now it's back to business! As someone with a similar father situation as Ryder (Was almost never there, did something that mucked up his, and by extension my reputation) let me say: I found that to be very relatable. If someone told me "Hey, your dad died." i wouldnt even pause my game. The most extreme reaction would be a shrug. And im a VERY emotional person. If he died saving my life, like in the game, i would answer like Ryder too. Just because theyre your parents doesnt mean you automatically care about them. Tl,dr: As someone who can relate, I see no problem with that scene.

Oh but it does. This game's story completely lacks the ambitions the first game had. I mean I haven't even mentioned this yet, but where's the music? Why is the no ambient music playing when I'm exploring or visiting hubs? How come the music that does exist during cutscenes, feels so bland compared to what we heard in the trilogy? Maybe they realized that ambient music on a constant loop sucks, because it does. I'm not denying that. How does something like that shit on the original trilogy though. (SEriously - is no one able to answer this question?)

It's not that that I'm complaining about. You can dislike it and still be more rationak about it. This thread just started off really mean and angry. ...and most replies in this thread have been way meaner than anything the OP ever said. (Ad hominems anyone?) I didn't say they weren't. But creating a negative atmosphere tends to do that.

No one is policing anyone's feelings. There's a group of people that disagree with OP's whole "Fuck Bioware" rant. The End. I don't think Andromeda is the apparent end all, be all that everyone is declaring. I don't think his whole baseless accusation that the people work on the game are not just as passionate as we are. I don't think incompetence and poor decisions are signs of laziness and apathy. I enjoyed what I have played in Andromeda. Some of you clearly don't. I am sorry but it also seem that most of you have realized that the last FOUR TO FIVE Bioware games haven't been your cup of tea one way or another. Yet you stick around and sprout that my entertainment is shit based on your standard as if there is a universal law that can dictate what I enjoy or can't enjoy. No one is forcing you to play this game. No one is forcing you to play a Bioware game. Move the fuck on. Prey looks fantastic. Cyberpunk is coming. Don't waste your energy here. Well, I can say"- If you have problems with people complaining, don't waste your energy here, on go play your beloved game, instead of whining about people complaining/ranting" as well. But that would be kind of tyrannical (although totally called for). I am amazed at the fact, that some people still lack the capability to learn how this world works. People seem to think that being tactful and critical are mutually exclusive. That is not how the real world works. I can criticize games I enjoy or dislike without being condescending and a complete ass in telling people to fuck themselves. If you think giving advice to move on from a video game is tyranny then I hate to see how you handle actual oppression. "I am amazed at the fact, that some people still lack the capability to learn how this world works." Maybe in a university or a safe space.

"'I'm pretty unbiased and I like to think for myself..." "I'm an honest person" "I'm a good guy" "I'm never wrong" Those kinds of statements are usually lies or just a lack of perceptiveness.

"He made the ultimate sacrifice, he got the team out of danger, we all owe him for that." Then your character says, "What are we doing in SAM Node?" One of the most important people in your life dies, and you give them a single sentence. And now it's back to business! what someone can't express curiosity about their surroundings because of a traumatic event. Hell I'm no psychiatrist but even i know that some people cope with their grief by getting back to work. It also ignores the other 2-3 examples. I never have high expectations for video games anymore. I've been burned out by so many that I even stopped preordering after Rome 2 because of how much of a mess that game was. It needs to be said that I haven't played DA:I barely (and I mean that, I think 2-3 hours?) to see similarities between that and ME:A. I've been doing research about ME:A and more and more it reminded me of Mass Effect 1. Just a much better version of the game which I do believe I got from it. I'm enjoying the hell out of the game, I think the pace of it is solid, I enjoy the characters and the story so far. I felt like I was on a new journey at the start of the game and it has kept me engaged. Back this up with good combat and good main character customization and this game has me hooked. However, there are things that I just have to ask me myself "why did Bioware choose to do this?" For example; 1 - No manual save during priority missions. I'm not sure who thought this would be a good idea, but this is just a really bad concept that doesn't make any sense. I was so angry during a certain part of the game (I don't want to list spoilers) and because I chose to explore and die (playing insanity) I was sent back nearly 20 minutes? I feel punished as a player at such a hard difficulty that I feel discouraged to explore because of time wasters like this. Please change this ASAP. Just to add, why isn't there a quick save? Why? 2 - No squad customization. I feel that this is a big blow for the game that has such a large crafting system. I really love the similarities with load outs, as it again, has the ME:1 elements to it, which is fantastic in allowing me to craft and research. However, why can't I make equipment for my squad mates? This is an RPG, picking skills for my squads and not their equipment to me is just silly. I never liked this in ME:2 and I don't like it in ME:A. The crafting system is far too bloated for just 1 character. Why go to all of this effort if it's just for 1 person? It's just a waste of time that could have been spent on other things. I'm not going to go into the CC or face animations. Answer is I could care less. Any game that involves having the main character with a voice makes me want to be their default look. There are some good things that I just love, the game size. I enjoy MASSIVE games with so much to do and I enjoy feeling overwhelmed. I like the new conversation wheel. I like it that when I explore, it get's added into conversations. There are good things that I seriously like about this. However, I do remain a bit concerned as fans that are unhappy have clearly mentioned their dislikes in DA:I and to see these occurring again makes me concerned if Bioware is listening or not. Overall I'm enjoying this game a lot. this is a weird one because i have been doing nothing but priority missions since starting the game...and have been able to save each time i tried. Granted i did not try during the prologue...

I can't work out what's more frustrating, the way the save system works (or doesn't) or the fact that this game is utterly soulless.

Another thread was talking about that and I was trying to get an answer about it. No manual option to save at all? Does it store the old autosave files that it makes, like chapter saves, or just keeps one and overwrites it?

You can manually save (by going into the menu) when not on priority missions, but if you're on a priority mission, you cannot save manually - it's auto all the way, and frankly, it's bad. I'm going to assume it is designed to only autosave after encounters rather than before (or, you know, both), as if you die you gotta go some distance back. I think it keeps all the autosaves files. At least, when I manually load (rather than hitting resume) there's a decent list of saves. And I tend to only keep one manual save.

But are you mature? It sounds like you are missing/missed something in your life, and the amatureish cheesy-teen-awkward writing somehow fulfills something for you. I'm not saying that's bad or anything, I'm saying that's not the type of writing I expect from bioware. If I wanted this kind of "experience", there is fanfiction (which is sometimes way better, and it's free). Hhhmmm.... It's a fucking videogame. So far, I like it, mostly, because I get a nice Star Trek-y vibe from the whole exploration thing. Don't care if others don't like it, but I don't feel the need to go around insulting people who disagree with me, or acting like my subjective opinions are objective facts. And, I can assure you, I'm a mature adult. Dude who wrote the OP hated it, and that's cool. Some people love it. Ditto. Crap like this reminds me why, as I get older, I'm drawing further and further away from internet "fandoms." Too much fighting over petty nonsense. A cliche movie line insert: - You just don't get it do you? AND WHO DA FUСK did I insulted? Stop being snowflakes. You like the terrible/immature writing? Fine. And just because you do, it doesn't mean that for some reason (and I know most of them), think that everybody else should like it. I will give just a small recent example - I've watched Rogue one the other day. It's the same deplorable situation as well. It's a trend at this point. And I was facepalming the entire time while I was watching the movie, the same types of facepalms as with andromeda. So I guess they do it, because the majority likes it. Just don't expect the rest of us to sit back and take it, or shy away from saying anything about it. - - - Also, I have no idea how this particular franchise (MASS EFFECT) brings like... THE WORST THINGS in me. It makes me hate myself. It's like some sort of abusive relationship type of thing. That's why probably this song fits perfectly with my situation and what I think/feel about ME/BW currently:

Funny thing is, people would say the same thing if BioWare went ahead and made a direct sequel that canonized an ending. There is no escape. I like the setting. Might be in the minority, but I wanted a clean break from the originals and an end to the Shepherd saga, because I felt it gave the writers creative freedom and not be restricted by lore / the past / etc. Unfortunately, I don't think they executed nearly as well as I had hoped. But that doesn't, or shouldn't, equate to shitting on the original trilogies.

I'm fine with animations now and it's smooth. I did get enemy bugs on Kadara where they float still in the sky and I just kill them and...They don't fight back. I have a lot of stuck/glitched enemies like that actually.

These metathreads are a great idea so that people can isolate themselves from contrary thought...
Mostly what I don't care for is that it looks like they tried to cram "everything" into this game, and as such lost a bit of focus on core gameplay. I made a thread specifically about squad management.
The other thing that bothers me a bit is that it seems like there was perhaps a bit too much Halo influence here. I liked playing Halo back in the day. I like Mass Effect. When I am playing Mass Effect I don't necessarily want to play Halo.
Now it may be that Halo influence improved combat with weapons in MEA, as it so far seems mostly improved from the previous games, ignoring that skill based reload canceling was thrown out. That said, it seems uncanny how many other similarities there seem to be such that I almost wonder if this could easily have been a soft-reboot or spinoff of Halo with a few changes to some text and dialogue.
I mean we already have Cortana in our head, we're fighting Sentinels to activate Forerunner tech, while the Covenant are wandering around trying to get the same tech and in general just causing problems.

Things I dislike: - CC - SAM is not shuting up about hazards and shit - "YOU CAN MINE HERE", "KETT NEARBY", "TEMPERATURE IS VERY LOW" etc. I KNOW, YOU TOLD MY THAT ALREADY 588474 TIMES, SHUT UP ALREADY ARGHHH ( I can only imagine that Ryder is going crazy because of that) - All Asari have Lexi face, what's up with that - Though side quests tend to end interestingly there is way too much of: "find 3 of *insert whatever* to move this quest forward", it gets tiring very quick - I can't get on board with female Angara design - ummmmm... animations I guess? But after 20h I couldn't care less - Some bugs, but also do not really bother me Seems like BW should use their A team next time, because most of problems this game has seem to be caused by lack of good polish. Keep in mind, I still enjoy this game, it has more good than bad. To be honest can't make myself stop playing it. But after 5 years I kinda just wanted *anything* ME, so yea, do with that information what you will.
