I'm starting to warm up to the companions. At first I found them a little boring to talk to and I still miss conflict and strong personalities, BUT after getting to know my crew better I'm starting to like some of them. Vetra and Pelessaria mostly. Before the game I was most excited to meet Liam, but he's umm too nice and generic kind of guy. Not really interesting. Not like Kaidan. Liam's just doing his own little thing and doesn't seem too interested about what the Pathfinder is doing. So yeah, he's kind of boring. I wish the companions would critique the Pathfinder and question her motives and what she's doing. Now, like Liam, they're all just doing their own thing. Ryder is not like Shepard who already was a hero by the time of ME1 and simply commanded respect. Yet no one rarely ever truly questions Ryder and there have so far been no moments of doubt, no mistakes, nothing. But anyway, this was supposed to be about what I like about the game... Same for me, the companions feel more interesting now, and their personal quests are good. I also don't like Liam as much as I thought I would, I don't mean I dislike him, but he just doesn't feel that interesting to me. I like Vetra (who doesn't?) and Jaal with his perfumes and complaining and showering. Drack of course is awesome too, because he's the krogan. I can't stand the way in which Suvi talks, like she's constantly out of breath. Generally, I start seeing personalities in them all and this is what I've been waiting for until Kadara. Also, I fully agree about the lack of distrust or critique of the Pathfinder. I just can't imagine being a part of this crew and not feeling terrified that someone incompetent is in charge and my life depends on them. Of course, everything works out great (BioWare hero after all) but before they get to really see with their own eyes that Ryder is good at her job, they just follow her too blindly and without doubts or questions. But as I say, with all the flaws I see and questions I ask (I guess I wouldn't fit well with this super accepting crew of the Tempest;) ), I still enjoy this game a lot and I don't see the reason for the amount of hate it gets. It's... Actually selling pretty bad. Third best selling Mass Effect game first week - so it's basically just outsold the first Mass Effect. 2+3 both outsold it. That's why we're seeing sales and BioWare has come out already to try and salvage sales with their upcoming announcement. And again, link to sources breaking down physical and digital sales per platform (including the sale data from origin that only EA has) please. Otherwise just bugger off with repeating the same thing over and over again in multiple threads.

I like the game. There's a ton of potential, especially with the storylines that were left open at the end of the game. Especially looking forward to wave 2 of arks. . That'll be awesome.

Finished the main story 2 days ago with 90+ hours logged and 92% completion. I loved/liked the game despite bugs and design flaws. Here are the things I liked: - I love my Tempest family. Every single one of them. Even SAM. - Sara Ryder is a multi-faceted character and a step-up from Shepard. Loved that she can be both over-the-top sarcastic and a bleeding heart. - the modular combat is so damn gratifying. Jumping and dashing around, smashing dudes from above, hitting them with charged overload, combo explosions, and it feels like I didn’t even scratch the surface with all possible ability combinations. - Ryder family side quest and the Ryders in general. The helmet scene... oh the feels. - the romance (Liam). I never liked ME romances and didn’t expect anything special after that kotaku article, but it was sooo good and epic. I’m speechless. - humorous and lighthearted tone of the game. - I didn’t get much party banter because of the infamous banter bug, but I like what I’ve heard. - the Tempest feels like home after a short while. Eagerly awaiting “the Second Bathroom DLC”. - codex entries, more precisely Ryder’s character evaluation and summaries of her relationships with the crew mates. This is actually the Best New Bioware Thing imo. - Emails! - loyalty missions, especially Liam’s. - NPCs calling Sara by name - little things like rain drops/sand/snow/dirt on armours. - scanning. I’m not sure why I like it. Must be the Skinner box effect. - sudoku, though I liked the astrarium puzzles in DAI more. - the pyjak and that fat space rodent, though I wish we could actually pet them. Also cats were mentioned. My life is complete. Things I disliked: (I know some people don’t want to see negativity, so I put it in the spoiler tags.) - my biggest gripe is the character creator. I wasn’t able to create a decent character in MEA CC, so I went with the default Sara. Huge mistake. You would think you’d get used to that immersion breaking grin or the horror-inducing dead stare after a couple of hours, but nope. Didn’t happen. - bugs. There are just so many of them. I couldn’t complete at least three quests because of bugs. One of the main quests fired too early and spoiled the fate of M........ *flips table* - certain plot points. I won’t go into detail and I’m not sure why, but some supposedly shocking revelations fell flat. Plus I didn’t like the Archon. - the slew of filler quests. For every decent side quest, there are a dozen of “place/gather/find/destroy x of x” quests, that hurt the overall gaming experience imo. - They used DAI UI as the blueprint for MEA and still somehow managed to eff it up. What bothers me the most, is that I didn’t care about loot in MEA as I did in DAI, because of indistinctive item icons and too much useless salvage. That mini euphoria you get when you find a legendary item? Gone. - endlessly respawning wildlife and kett/outlaw/whatever outposts. They don’t even wait until I’m gone and spawn on top of me. It’s a bug, right? - I’m not sure I like the galaxy map. I enjoy the music and the Star Trek-y feel to it, but the flight animations put me in a weird state of trance. It’s just... so boring. - no optional planets to land on while exploring the galaxy map. - facial animations duh - all asari except Peebee look alike. Jarringly so. - human irises look like contacts. They used photogrammetry in MEA, but couldn’t scan a human eye?

I'm hoping to be streaming the game off my PS4 later today, if folks want to join in and watch. Starting fresh in an insanity playthrough. Might as well have some fun with it and showcase a ton of deaths on screen for folks to laugh at. Hoping to start around 2 PM, if not later. Check it out here on the TechRaptor Twitch Stream.

While I think the criticisms of ME:A are legitimate (if sometimes overstated), the bottom line is that I had fun. This game made me laugh. It made me feel for my companions. It made me care about the new galaxy I was in. It made me want to see what was over that next horizon. It made me stand there like an idiot for five minutes, admiring the beauty of space. It even let me chuck swarms of robots at enemies while I ran around like an idiot It needed more time for polish, and the negatives are serious enough to detract from the whole. (Wonky facial animations and bizarre save system are up there in problems for me.) But hey, I already sunk 90+ hours into it! I hope the developers can resolve some of the issues, because the heart of this game is great.

I really liked the game, it's up there as my favourite of the series.
I did have quite a few issues:
- SAM talked too much - Way too much reliance on scanning - Liam's dialogue - Vault puzzles and scanning for glyphs got tiresome and will be worse on new play throughs - Too many enemy encounters when exploring
The negatives were far outweighed by the positives though. I liked the Tempest and loved the new crew for the most part, aside from Liam. I'm keen to continue the story if we're to get a sequel.

I love Kadara. So far my favorite place in the game. Lots of GREAT, interesting characters and even Ryder's dialogue options are pretty good here!
Liam's loyalty mission was pretty good as well. Being able to make that choice and argue with Liam about it at the end in particular. Looking forward to other characters loyalty missions now.

I'm actually really enjoying this game. It's not as good as ME:2 imo, but it's better than DA:I. Overall, very pleased, but some things I'm disappointed in or would like to see improved.
1) Facial animations. After getting a game like The Witcher 3, it's pretty disappointing to see how bad ME:A is by comparison. If TW3 is an 'A' grade, then ME:A is a 'C-.' They certainly could've done better without going all the way.
2) Mouse cursor glitch. Exclusive to PC, my mouse cursor will often show up in the middle of my screen after opening a menu, opening a dialogue, etc. I can get it to go away by opening a menu and moving the mouse to the side of the screen, but it's really continuous.
3) Travel time. I find it monotonous. I have a fast running PC with virtually little to no loading times, and it takes two minutes or more (on average to leave the ground on one planet and go elsewhere. I wish I could directly choose a planet to go to rather than constantly having to back out of the system, fly to a system, have it zoom in and then out on the planet, then fly to the planet, then choose the landing zone and then land. I feel there are a lot of steps that could be taken out.

I'm on my second playthrough so obviously there are many things that I like about it. The loyalty missions are really fun, the Kett bases are fun. I'm level 64 and switching out powers keeps it interesting, trying out different builds. It has beautiful environments. There are some funny casual dialogues that go on when driving around. There are some funny dialogues. But it's flawed in a bunch of little ways that kind of add up. It really needed to be edited down. Some of the stuff is just a waste of time, some small missions have glitched so that I couldn't finish them. Some of the things you have to do to get to the loyalty missions are boring pains in the buttoks.Like Cora's mission, tracing down signals, YAWN. Some missions are structured in obnoxious ways, go to this planet, go the that planet, go back to this planet. Time wasting bs, that I consider beyond unnecessary. The worst glitch that doesn't happen every time but occasionally is that if you die in battle the game won't go to a continue screen. Your character just lays there while squad mates continue to to fight. You have to restart the game. The second time around is better because you can line up the quests better and minimize some of the tedious going back and forth. All in all though it's fun. First time I did 87% of the game. This time I'm not going to do as many bs tasks, and stick to the fun stuff. It's well worth the money I spent on it , to me the combat is a blast and I love the battle maps.
Also if you mess around with making a custom character enough, you can end up with a pretty decent looking female. First time I did default, this time I messed around for 30 mins or so and I'm pleased with result, looks good (not great, good) in game. I'm really picky so that says something.

I laughed my pancreas off. Overemotional Ryder is best Ryder. And the cuddling with Cora :3 The ending track...

Every next planet is like my favorite planet. Ah, I just started Kadara... after a flurry of emails and chatting with the crew.
That's probably what really makes Andromeda stand out - how well the interactions are mixed into the content. So far, like 30+ hours in, and not a single stretch of the game where characters were just mules with guns. Well, they don't share the inventory, so they are not really mules, but you know. Bots. Instead I feel their investment into the process.
I found Gil's notes on poker, and immediately after - an e-mail telling me it is a ruse... how cool is that?
And, I finally got to refuse to drink, lol. She's growing!
I am also getting a vibe that the game suggests, but not forces best comps for each planet, or maybe I am just RP it myself, and I appreciate it.
To be honest, as much as I miss my male Quarian I always wanted, I like that the crew is so intimately small, because it is easy to get to know everyone.

Despite all game's problems with animations I have to praise one thing. Their determination to get rid of Magic Rifle. 90% of cutscenes Ryder uses the one I equipped and it even fires correctly (yeah, even remnant beam weapon). Color me impressed. Most cutscenes do that, but the major story ones, still have my female Ryder, carrying, the same damn generic assault rifle as the old games did, which bugs me more than any animation issues. Those are the ones they should get right first, not last, I suspect all but Ryders head are pre-rendered, which is sloppy. One thing I did notice though is that augmentations aren't consistently reclaimed when getting rid of a crafted weapon. I crafted the Pathfinder Pioneer with the vintage heatsink and that electrical aug, and they're pretty much stuck in that gun, so if I destroy it, I lose it entirely. What's up with that? If you destroy a piece of equipment, you don't recover anything, they are just gone. You must DECONSTRUCT them instead. This will tell you what is recovered, and is the only way to get an Augmentation back. This is never madfe clear in game, it is done through the inventory menu, and the item must be unequipped, to proceed. This means for one gun, the melee weapon, and every piece of armour, you must equip another item, to unequip the one you want to deconstruct.
Mods are not included in this, and may be retained, but I never destroyed a gun with mods on it. I always remove mods prior to unequipping, and deconstructing, just in case.

Every time you deconstruct or destroy something, there'd be a pop-up to basically ask if you are sure. If deconstructing, it says deconstruct and lists what you'd gain. If destroying, it says destroy and lists nothing. I thought that was a fine enough way of doing it. Granted, I'm from a time where games tended to either be incredibly vague, provide no help or were so littered with hints you never left the tutorial no matter how far you got in the game. Having to unequip was a bit of an annoyance, though, but I guess that was because there wasn't a suit underneath armor that could show up if your character was unequipped like there is in Dragon Age: Inquisition.

I like the fiend. I like the way he grabs my Ryder, takes a bite out of her, and then throws her to the ground like a piece of trash. excellent. If there's a sequel, the fiend needs to be a squadmate

Love? No. Like? Yeah I suppose. I had fun (just finished my first play through last night), but the game certainly isn't without its faults. I thought the story was decent enough, much of it is terribly predictable, but that is forgivable. The companions aside from Liam I liked, they are relatable and believable enough. Liam just really got on my nerves but I suppose not all of them are going to gel with every player. Vetra was the only one I would say I really liked. The others are just kinda "yeah they are okay I guess". They don't really stand out or impact me they way characters like Wrex, Liara, Garrus and Tali did in ME1.
I enjoyed the open world aspects and the Nomad was fun. Combat was really smooth and well done though I don't like the 3 powers restriction. It would have worked if they didn't all go on cooldown when switching profiles, about halfway through the game I respeced to put all my points in 3 actives powers and passives and just ignored the profiles for the most part.
Plenty of what I would call technical issues. Bugs, yeah I had them. Usually minor things, buggy animations, enemies in terrain that sort of thing. My biggest complaints would be the CC and face/body models.
Lets face it the CC is just bad. You can't really make a unique player character anymore and the presets given are, well, not attractive. The skin colors are all far too dark, the hair colors are all too 'neon' and using a CC character turns Alec into some kind of humanoid monstrosity. I feel like we would have been better off given only the default Ryders and allowed to just change hairstyle, hair/eye colors, facial hair, and makeup. I can understand not wanting to change the defaults facial geometry (sort of) but at least let us change their cosmetic attributes. If they had done that I wouldn't have needed the CC presets, but they didn't and I do and the CC presets are horrendous so I can't really use them either. Just bad all around.
The one thing that constantly annoyed me and brought me out of the experience was the human bodies though. They all look like 25% of their legs are missing, they have weird horrible postures, and the animations are jarring (I dunno exactly how to describe it they just don't look natural when in motion). Don't get me started on the giant dirty man hands on the female characters...
All in all, MEA was enjoyable. Needed a few more months of polish, bug squishing, and CC design but it was a solid 6.5 or 7/10. Not what I expect from Bioware though, this was definitely not the best I have seen out of them but it is a "just good enough" start for them to build a better MEA2 off of.

I like the fiend. I like the way he grabs my Ryder, takes a bite out of her, and then throws her to the ground like a piece of trash. excellent. If there's a sequel, the fiend needs to be a squadmate So far I've managed to avoid getting grabbed when I go toe to toe with those things. I biotic blink through them, fire and rinse repeat, like some kind of magical matador. Then when his health is just a sliver left, I charge+nova his space gorilla ass.

I like the animation.

I was responding to someome, who was only destroying, they didn't know you had to deconstruct to recover the Augmentations. I was originally unaware that recovery was an option, and had been selling the old versions when I made new ones. Game just said you got one on research, and found more in containers after that. Only when it became obvious they were very rare, did I discover you could deconstruct, from another forum, not the game. I hadn't even been looking at the Items manu, just going to research upgrades, switching for the equipped, and selling the ones I replaced, as I reached the level requirements.
