I'm 39 in a couple of months... can I sneak my way in? If it helps, I very much remember the advent of home computing. Me too!  But I feel like an old fart, so I think I should be able to join in the fun as well, right?

Today, I was running a team meeting at work and realized that out of the 8 people on my team, I was one of only two who were alive in the 70's.  And one of them was born in 1989.......

Yep, pretty much one of my earliest memories, a couple of months after my 5th birthday.

Well I can say this at the very least if life after forty mirrors what it has been since I was say...20 or so it will at the very least be an entertaining, noteworthy life. Not memoir worthy or anything but certainly interesting.

Its just giving it thought it makes me ponder a few choices I made a decade or so ago, I mean if I had stuck around back home would I be married now? Have kids? Shit like that, aging just makes me maudlin a little bit because it forces self reflection. Makes you question if you made the right choices, I make a lot of money but I am for all intents and purposes alone here in the continental united states, all my family are across the ocean in Europe, my only career prospects stem from the fact I was in the army for near a decade or so and none that is going to change as far as I can tell.

Sometimes after a few shots of whiskey I wonder if I would have been better off just staying home and working in the goddamn auto plant like my dad or going to school to study train craft like he wanted, settled down with that squeeze back at university, instead I traveled across the ocean for a pay check, lost out on nearly all my prospects, took part in the invasion of Iraq(the second one, I ain't that goddamn old) and had a lot of fun since then. Bad times too, but I don't know.

What I do know is that daytime drinking now makes a hell of a lot more sense to me then it did two decades ago, take that lesson for what ya will.

I miss the 90s.

Too true. I would've loved to see Mars too... I wonder if we can donate our DNA to science and get cloned on Mars at some point.
