I finally discovered that if you peel off the stickers and place them in order, it's even easier! Yeah, but they never go on straight and then want to fall off. Worse than that... My best buddy's Dad was very proud of his Rubik's cube, pyramid, and even a hexagon IIRC. I did the sticker trick, which enraged him as he could no longer solve the toys according to the instructions in the books he bought. For a while he thought this was his own fault, but then a sticker started peeling and he noticed a fingernail mark. I was banned for a week from the Neighborhood Social Network. The first of many bans

When I went back to school in the early 00s, I seriously considered buying a Trapper Keeper! I ended up buying a bunch of flimsy 3-ring binders instead, but there was a real moment of debate, tinged with goofy nostalgia.

Caught myself ogling them a few times before reminding myself that I have a steamer trunk full of briefcases. Yes, I confess, I was that odd kid in school who carried a briefcase.

Ah yes, you were the Alex P. Keaton clone wearing the knit fabric tie with the briefcase! I was the unicorn-rarity Bender/Sporto/Dweeb tribrid. It was a painful experience mostly with a couple highlights.

I identify with a young Heather Mooney from Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion... basically an awkward loner. I did have a some good friends, but not many people who I hung out with.

My cousin and I had a ritual we did once every year... In fall just before it became too cold to wear a light jacket my cousin and I would bring our cheap Gayla kites to the cemetery near my Nana's (Grandmother's) house. It was right on the water facing the bay and the wind was almost strong enough to knock you off your feet. We'd walk across the cemetery trying to get our kites as high as possible, hoping the string would hold out. It never did...the cheap cotton string would always break sending the kites across the bay. We would then walk slowly back to Nana's house stopping to fix the memorial flags that had torn away from their sticks.

Hey geezers, gaffers and grumpy old farts - I just saw Christopher Cross play in Chattanooga, TN. Small venue called The Walker Theater at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Auditorium. Intimate, we were front row center on the balcony (wife gets all the credit for the seats ) He played every song you love, and of course some newer stuff and lesser knowns - they were all fantastic. The dude is 67, and sings like an angel. What I didn't know and got as bonuses - 1) I knew he was a musician. I did not know he was a virtuoso jazz guitar player. Holy shit. 2) He is a fair stand-up comedian; leans left on the jokes but that didn't stop me from laughing (or mostly agreeing) Excellent little concert, Arthur's Theme was so good it made me cry just a little

He, like Peter Cetera, can hit some amazingly high notes and make them sound so lovely. I love Arthur's Theme... Sailing too. Both songs are so relaxing to hear. It's nice you had a good time.

I either didn't know this thread existed, or I'd forgotten (blames age ) In any case, throwback confectionary. My brother very kindly ordered me shitloads of Victory V lozenges, the first taste of which I got back in the '70s from my Grandad. Supposedly for coughs and colds....Mmmm.
The recipe has changed a bit;apparently they no longer have chloroform or ether, which is why they might not taste as strong as I remember, but oooooh I love 'em. Don't really see them in the shops anymore
1.5 packets down (today ) 8 unopened ones to go...
