So all the oldeies, what are the oldest computer games you own/remember? I'm thinking PC games, not console. Baulders Gate is a baby. I remember playing text adventure games. Zork type. Then: Star flight A Bards Tale (back when EA didn't suck!) Wizardry Wisards Crown Ultima I through IV Civilaization series Master of Orion The earliest PC game I remember playing was The Ancient Art of War, followed by King's Quest II, but one was on a friend's computer and I rented the other. The first one I owned was Thexder, I think (I was big into Sierra games).

The very first video game was Pong. My parents gave it to my older brother and he needed a victim opponent. The first computer game was Colossal Cave Adventure, which was on paper tape which you loaded into a mainframe. Zork was derived directly from that. In law school, we had a mini arcade by the vending machines and there was much playing of Ms Pacman, Galaga and Joust on study breaks. My first PC didn't have a hard drive, it had two floppy drives and by carefully loading disks in you actually try to play a game. I spent a lot of time sailing ships around in The Art of War At Sea avoiding enemy ships. The first PC with a hard drive I owned, I bought used, so it came pre-loaded with Civilization. That was a year lost. Then came MMORPG's, with Meridian 59, Everquest, Dark Age of Camelot, Wish, City of Heroes/Villains, Star Wars Galaxies, WoW, and SWTOR. As well as Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Dragon Age, Mass Effect and the Sim games. It's been fun, but not very productive. Probably should have started beading earlier and pursued it more vigourously.

Never played Pong admittedly due to limited exposure to games; I was climbing trees, etc. It was only when my bros began to pick up computer classes that I knew about computer games. So the first game I played was Space Invaders. From there I moved on to a medley of games, Snakes and such. Even games that seemed to be from Japan; anime chars. I played Doom on a friend's computer. Much later, I finally got my own PC and Star Wars Dark Forces was the first game I owned. I picked up the pace from there : Pacman, Dune (Virgin), G-Police, Wing Commander, Command and Conquer, Tetris, Battle Chess, Grand Prix Circuit, etc. I played SW Jedi Knight on my elder bro's computer because my PC didn't have enough ram; it was expensive then. Here's what it's like back then, growing up in a developing country.
This is today.

I probably remember it more fondly than it actually deserved... That's pretty funny. I've never seen it before. The only Monkey God I know and like is the one in Journey to the West, a China production in the 80s.. It's a faithful adaptation, a good one too, of the classic novel. The actor who portrayed Monkey God is the best I've ever seen. It's hard to convey anger and mischief, etc, under all that makeup but he did it.
As far as I remember, for Monkey a.k.a Monkey Magic the inspiration ( Journey to the West) is the same, but it was made in Japan. The dubbed version was broadcast by BBC. Myself I caught a few episodes, about the same time I saw Blake's 7 and Lone Wolf and the Cub.

The very first video game was Pong. Same for me. I played it when it was an arcade game before becoming available for the home use. I liked it. It was great beating my father. He didn't care. In the end he got the last laugh by watching my sister kick my butt. From that point on, I played Asteroids and Space Invaders a lot. Mostly at the bowling alley with friends When I was in the military, my roommate returned from leave with a nintendo. Everyone in the platoon was in our room every night wanting to play. Played the first Mario game along with Zelda and Donkey Kong. After getting out of the military, I played every now and then on nintendo. In 2008, I bought a ps3 because buying a blue ray player was more expensive. My first game on it was Fallout 3. 6 months later I retired and been playing ever since. My ps3 has at least 10 000 hours. Most of those hours have been spent playing ME and DA. I got a ps4 in March. Really enjoying the difference it what the graphics look like today versus 20, 30, 40 years ago. Curious to see what they will look like in 20, 30 40 years from now. Same with me. I remember using Windows 3.1

I'm not sure I want to be an old fart but I qualify, nonetheless. Age is just a number right? At least I tell myself that while I drink to celebrate (or commiserate) my upcoming birthday. I felt sry for my kids for not getting the tv joke in X-men - Days of Future past. "All three network huh?" "And PBS!"

Ah yes...the ol' havin to explain why a joke is funny to your kids because it's a reference to a time before they were born, blues. Then there comes a time when they have to explain things to you!

Marc Singer was Hot......*shows herself out* YES! Yes he was! I was watching that movie when I was like 6 or 7...that includes movies like red sonja and yeah Barbarella. I had no clue what that bed was doing to Jane Fonda. I laugh about it now but my parents weren't really all that strict on me with movies.

It was around that time she also picked us up a book called 'Where Did I come From.'

My teenage years were mostly in the 80s, so there are lots of fond memories from that time. Didn´t we we almost have it all ? Portable Electronic Games Portable Non-Electronic Games Stationary Games And don´t get me started on the music.....lots of great stuff was done back then. The time when megaconcerts and music videos became big . That last one is technically from the 90s, but I don´t care

Because H.M. Murdock, that's why! And I'm not just saying that because Dwight Shultz voices Bohdan, Murdock WAS my favorite. "White Paper!" & "Trash Bags!" Not to mention when I'm running around the mountains of Thedas I do it singing this song...especially when I have a steep climb.
