Placing Andromeda vs All Other BioWARE Games You Played

Hrm. This is actually pretty hard. When I think about all of their past games, there are things I love and hate about all of them. okay... here goes. >.<

Most important thing for me is a combination of enjoyable combat and characters I like (which, it should be noted, is not the same as likeable characters). I can forgive a lot of shortcomings as long as I'm having fun. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Very last place: Dragon Age Inquisition

I watched my sons play KOTOR and KOTOR 2 but never made it all the way through the game/s myself, so I can't include those, although I know they are very good games and my sons loved them.

For me Dragon Age 2 is the best, with Inquisition coming second and DAO third. ME is hardly a blip on my radar. Started playing Andromeda but I can't play it. Stuck on the very first planet trying to jump over some mushrooms and can't get any further. And the fact that you can't even save the game when you want to is just ridiculous. ME has lost my interest now.

I'm very surprised ME1 is rated so poorly. I assume because of the gameplay?

I wonder if starting with ME2 has made "newer" fans of the franchise dislike the game's issues more...

For me ME1 is the best game of the trilogy because of the narrative and Lovecraftian reapers. It was my first Bioware game, it just blew me away. Best gaming experience since my childhood/teens. Unsurpassed. Witcher 3 now being the overall best most perfect game I've played in 15 years, maybe ever, but nothing will match the magic of ME1 and Shepard for me. Once in a lifetime kind of gaming love.

The tonal shift towards the more flashy in ME2 took some getting used to. It's the most polished and the easiest to replay because of the fun episodic storytelling.

I can't really rate the games properly. Should I rate them by how much I enjoyed them at the time? That sounds most fair. I would have much less fun with DAI after Witcher 3 or even Skyrim. At the time I thought it might even be the best DA game. Then I replayed DA2 and I had a whole new appreciation for this very underrated game. Liked it at the time (once I got over the art design) but didn't love it. Loved it when I replayed 2 years ago.

I could not play DAO anymore. The gameplay was already antiquated when it came out. Kind of ugly too. But at the time I had a blast! I've never been so "devastated" at the end of a game as when Alistair sacrificed himself. What a tragic romance.

So going by how good the games I played were at the time:

3. ME3 (I like the trilogy better than DA)
4. DAO
5. DA2 (today I'd say it's my favorite because of Hawke)
6. DAI (I can't rate it higher because even at the time the inquisitor was a huge disappointment, overall a good game though, never hated any Bioware game)

Haven't played MEA yet but expect it to come out last.

Seeing so many people fond of Jade Empire I should play it. Was a free download anyway.

Andromeda isn't bad, but can't possibly compete with other BioWare titles.

1 - ME Trilogy will all DLC + mods
2 - DA Origins with all DLC + mods
3 - KOTOR with mods
4 - Baldurs Gate 1&2 with all expansions
5 - DA2 with all DLC + mods
6 - DAI with all DLC + mods

7 - Jade Empire /good game, but not really my cup of tea/
8 - ME Andromeda.

Sorry but Andromeda is the worst game BioWare ever did. Most of the older BW games I mentioned, really touch my heart, many times put tears in my eyes, made me happy and made me sad, but at least - they did. Andromeda doesn't touch me even once.

There's a significant gap between 2 and 3, and between 5 and 6, other than that they're pretty close to each other. I hope to add KOTOR and Neverwinter Nights to the list soon, but muh backlog. 

1. Mass Effect 1 - My fav game of all times.
2. Dragon Age 2 - Sarcastic FemHawke is the perfection. Plus Kirkwall and the story. Companions. Damn, that game was amazing despite all the hate.
3. Mass Effect Andromeda - Oh yes. Bring on pitchforks and torches, because someone actually liked the game very much. Gave me ME1 vibes and that was more than enough.

I seem to be one of the few who actually liked ME:3.

Yeah, yeah, the ending was shite, the side quests were shite, the quest journal was shite - BUT - With all the DLC installed, plus MEHEM I find it a darned-fine game.

Inquisition is the only Bioware game to date that I just lost interest in half way through playing. I managed to complete it once, but repeated attempts to play it again usually cause me to feel burned out and fed up at around the half way mark.
