If you want to try DA franchise, I suggest that you don't start with Inquisition. If you did play and liked ME1, DA:O won't be a problem for you at all by the reason it could be a problem for many folks just starting out in gaming. I would also STRONGLY advise playing through all 6 intro chapters to select the background that appeals to you the most before starting the game. The game does strongly push you to play with a Mage, but some of those backgrounds are great and actually more fun, even if you decide to go with a different character for the full haul. Yeah. Even though that game was a terrible slog and had the worst combat system in history...set it on casual and grind through. Oh, I have seen worse. To be honest I liked it more than 3 and 4 Edition DnD BG/IWD/NWN stuff. I never bothered to understand the system (I honestly did arcain warrior spec, but did not wear armor because I was worried I will not be able to cast spells), but save for a crazy crafting in Awakening it did not stand out as horrible. One thing I could think of though that I forgot before making a suggestion is that it was the last unvoiced title, so, yes, that could be a problem. But the game is really cheap now, so no biggie to try and not like it.

I wanted to build a second DAK. Yet, if I can see myself cheating and playing class intro and Awakening instead of full Origins to create a Warden for the narrative that is "alive" to me, what I truly dread is the Inquisition. I tried to envision it with recruiting only chars that you cannot dismiss, I tried thinking of areas I'd only do, and my hands still drop listlessly down at the sheer hopelessness of the undertaking.

1.ME2 2.ME3 3.DAI 4.MEA 5.ME1 6.DA2 7.DAO
I love all of them but this is just how I rate them. I do have Kotor and the Baldur's gate games too but I've not really played them enough to properly evaluate them so chose to leave them off the list and focus on the ones that I play the most.

And then play the newer game. Its hard for to play older games if I didn't play them when they first came out. Still haven't played any final fantasy before FFx You can watch it AND you can re-build it in any way you want in Dragon Age Keep, then upload its outcomes into DA:I if you feel that the older game will wear you down. DA2 with Legacy/Exiled Prince is my favorite of the three in respect to everything including combat, so I personally can't really recommend skipping it, but I am sure other people would Again, can be faked in DAK upon reading or watching. I would also not recommend Inquisition as a stand alone game, but, that's, again, my personal opinion.

Andromeda hasn't had DLC yet, so this question is premature in my opinion. All of BioWare's games (with the exception of ME1) are vastly improved by DLC.
If I were to compare the base content (no DLC), then:
1) Mass Effect 3 2) Dragon Age Origins 3) Dragon Age 2 4) Mass Effect 2 5) Mass Effect Andromeda 6) Dragon Age Inquisition 7) Mass Effect 1
With DLC, the list changes a bit. Mass Effect 3 retains the top spot, but Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 2 jump ahead of Origins. Origins DLC was not that impressive even if it was fun. I am optimistic about MEA DLC. I expect it to take #2 by the end. Mass Effect 3 has the best DLC out of all their games in my opinion.
To be fair though, even Mass Effect 1 is a 9/10 for me in terms of overall quality. I have major gripes with every single game, but I never let them infringe on my enjoyment. No developer makes party RBGs as good as BioWare, even if they have lately been messing up a bit.

For played and really liked:
1. ME1 2. DAO 3. MEA 4. ME2 5. ME3 6. DAI 7. DA2
MEA comes out ahead because I really like how they do the ending with getting all your allies and people you helped to join in at the end. That is exceptionally well done I think. What people wanted for ME3 I would guess. That also puts it ahead of ME2 making that whole part on par or better than ME2's suicide run for me. ME3 was too much of a downer for me to really rate it higher than the others. I recently played it again and had to stop due to that.

The only BioWare games I have played is the Mass Effect series since I don't enjoy fantasy games or MMOs at all.
My list would go a little something like this: ME:A > ME3 > ME2 > ME1
Honestly, ME1 is more of a chore than anything else and I only ever play it to carry over the save to ME2.

My ranking :
1. ME2/ME3 (Tie) - if ME2 had ME3 battle mechanics, higher level abilities and crafting, it would be #1. If ME3 War Assets would have been implemented better, it would be #1.
2. ME1 - loved the story, Harbinger encounter was amazing. If battle mechanics, abilities and crafting was similar to ME3, it would be #1.
3. Baldur's Gate 2 - loved it. I don't know how many PT I had but it was a lot.
4. Baldur's Gate 1 - my first game from Black Isle/Bioware.
5. DAO - at least 6 PT. A worthy successor to Baldur's Gate series.
6. MEA - good but not great. What might have been....
7. DA2 - never got it going.
8. NWN2 - I can barely remember much of it.

Let's see... 1. BG2 2. KOTOR - KOTOR2 wasn't done by BioWare 3. BG 4. DAO 5. ME1-3 - rank about the same for me, since it's such a tight series 6, NWN - NWN2, again, not BioWare 7. DA2 8. SWTOR - because it should have been KOTOR 3, then it would rank MUCH higher 9. DAI 10. MEA Never really got into Jade Empire, even though it's supposed to be up there with their best games... also, the lead designer back then moved on and joined blizzard. I think many people that are fans of BioWare today don't even realize that they actually are just as much fans of Obsidian (who did the Icewind Dale games) or Black Isle (who did a quite few games with BW, but also made KOTOR2, NWN2, and Planescape: Torment solo). While it is true in a sense that KOTOR2 was by Obsidian, they developed it under the auspices of BWare. In essence, BWare handed off all the programming resources of KOTOR1 to Obsidian to create KOTOR2 for LucasArts in a very short period of time. KOTOR1 was released for the PC Nov. 2003, K2 Dec. 2004. So my hypothesis is that most of the preliminary work had already been done by BWare, with Obsidian taking care of the details. BWare wanted to get going on ME:1 which to me is KOTOR3, as they took many ideas from KOTOR (and other games) to create the ME universe. My list: 1. KOTOR I. Plot a little superficial, but at least made sense. Unparalleled cinematic production values. 2. KOTOR II. Plot for the first 2 thirds was great, then spectacularly fell apart. Still, both these games provided a deeply immersive experience, which admittedly is highly subjective, to the extent I participated briefly but intensely in the restoration project to fix the last third of the game. 3. KOTOR III/ME:1. To me, ME:1 was KOTOR III without the benefit of the cinematic crossover production values probably instilled by LA. 4. ME:2. The highwater mark for the Trilogy. While I've never experienced the same sense of immersion as the KOTORs in any game, this came close. I enjoyed the characters/plot. 5. ME:3. This seemed an attempt to milk the franchise. With the economy of recycling, all they had to do was figure out the ending--along with dropping some activities. The problems with the ending eerily reminded me of the problems in KOTOR 2. 6. ME:A. The names have changed but the story is the same. Mac said he wanted to recreate the "awe and wonder" he'd experienced while gaming in his youth. Lofty goals, but it didn't work for me. It's not a bad game, it just lacks imagination. Games I started but never finished, so not ranked. 7. SWTOR -- played it for about an hour when it first came out as it was hyped as providing the same SP KOTOR experience though an MM. All I remember is 100s of players and NPCs milling about and dying repeatedly before I could do anything. 8. Jade Empire -- couldn't get into it. 9. NWN -- couldn't get into it. 10 Baldur's Gate -- played it but can't remember it.
