I can't even make a valid vote because I can only vaguely remember the main theme and I think there was some combat music. Thats about what I remember of the soundtrack of Andromeda. Was it good or bad? I don't know, I have barely heard any music at all.

I don't think the score was "bad," it just wasn't special. That said, the folks at EA / BioWare are rather full of themselves.

You know what they should have added in the bars in ME series? Actual vocalist singers in the bars you visit. If they would have added that, think it would have been much better like the Bard songs in DAI.

Ironically, I was super hopeful when I heard the trailer soundtrack only to be disappointed later in learning that it wasn't an original track

I must be a heretic or something, because I'm meh about the track "Vigil". I always liked tracks like "The Wards" and "Criminal Elements" much better. I'm going to be lazy, and just copy/paste a post I posted in another thread about this, and why I think this soundtrack kinda fails:

A link to the OST:
The sad horn music is Track 1, A Better Beginning. I think it would be better if they skipped 2.5 minutes ahead to the more energetic portion or played Heleus (the galaxy map theme) instead during game loading.
The Normandy-esque theme is Track 4, A Trail of Hope.
I do like Neutron Purge.
I think the music isn't bad, it's just that it plays so infrequently (or during combat when we're distracted) that we don't remember it.

I join the mass in the view that the score is ok, but is under used. In many cases there is no music at all, sometimes it is too low in the background to make much effect. Overall, as I think by now most agree, this is a good game, but a bit rushed, rough, and you can also feel it in the sounds. The music, and many dialogues, are often not loud enough for example.

ME1 and 2 had great soundtracks. ME3's soundtrack was a masterpiece. So far I'm kind of disappointed we don't have any big standout pieces besides maybe one or two in Andromeda. It was the same way with Star Wars The Force Awakens... The prior six movies had marvelous soundtracks and then TFA's.... was just about nonexistent. I don't know why this is a trend. Soundtracks are GOOD things.

Honest question. Do you think newer games have the magic of the classic OG PS1 game sound tracks? I don't think they do. Listen to the Chrono Cross OST then the ME OST. I don't feel the passion in the ME OST.

I don't feel the passion in the ME OST. It's really hard to compare as a lot of games are using orchestral music now. I never played Chronological Cross but games I remember having good soundtracks from that era would be FFVII/FFVIII Parasite Eve, Ocarina of Time. This games had great music but I think several games from today can compare. MGS2 is a prime example, the Witcher series, ME of course.

For some reason MEA and DAI had horribly forgettable music. I wonder if it has to do with frostbite? Essentially you barely hear it and when you do it doesn't reside with you like the music in the original trilogy or the Witcher or frankly any other good rpg/action game. Poor quality control? Poor music in general?
Music is important in games, it sets the tone of the game/area/character/quest etc...Apparently Bioware had no music/soundtrack editor for this game.

Poor Music thanks to Frostbite? If there's one thing Star Wars: Battlefront actually did good it's sound effects and music. In my opinion that game alone proves that it's definitely possible to implement an almost cinematic experience into a frostbite game. I therefore think the reason why the music in Andromeda can be classified as 'meh' mostly has to do with design decisions, not with engine and processing limitations. Like most people in other threads about music have pointed out, it seems that Bioware wanted to go for more ambient sounds during exploration instead of actual background music. I don't think that was a good decision in the end but that is on a personal note.

I agree that ME:A has a weak soundtrack, but would disagree about DA:I.
I thought Inon Zur's work was boring and forgettable, and that DA:I had by far the best soundtrack in that series. My only complaint is that like ME:A Bioware prioritized ambient noise over music in the open world, so you rarely hear the soundtrack.
If it were up to me Sam Hullik would be at the helm for ME5 and Trevor Morris brought back for DA4.

There are a few good pieces, my two favourites are "A better beginning", aka the main menu music, aswell as the Archon theme, "No more mercy". Other than that, there are a few other ones that are somewhat memorable, but overall I agree that it's the most forgettable OST in a mass effect game to date.
