No way. It's been only 2 weeks since release, and you have already played for 100+ hrs. This is something out of this world for me! It might not be that bad. The Xbox only counts when the game is open, so some of those hours might not be strictly valid. (And I'm conveniently inbetween two work contracts (and my daughters are grown up) so I genuinely have the time this month.

For me 40 hours is savoring because it would take me a few weeks. I simply cannot stay interested in the game PT stretches over a period of more than one month. I am glad they have difficulty levels now, though the routine combat was never an issue before tbh. I'll admit I'm quite pedestrian, so I'm sure you could play faster. When I clear a fort, I clear a fort. Usually by stealth, and I don't mind waiting in bushes... Is there another way to play? I just loved clearing the wilderness forts in AC3 by stealth and being completely undetected, some of them were really challenging and the same with the plantations in AC:BF

Did you set it to auto or did you actually ride the camel manually, mmm that sounds bad You can't set it to auto in the deep desert, it needs a 'road', or at least what it decides is a road. Automatic travel can also be problematic if bandits take offense, so the journey was manual.

SofaJockey , I too love just riding about, savoring the world. @carefull , I agree with SofaJockey that the game could likely be played pretty swiftly if you focus solely on the critical path. I think it will lose a bit, but it could be done relatively swiftly. I'd recommend at least doing the optional side quests linked directly to the Order of the Ancients targets. Those quests will help you understand a bit better why these persons need to die. It's definitely not all about Bayek's need for vengeance. Some optional side quests have well executed cut scenes and all in this game. There really wasn't any corner-cutting, beginning to end. Earlier, Bayek made me laugh aloud on two different occasions. He's on a mission of death, but he's still a hero who's quick with a smile and kindness for most people. I really like him. His VA+facial expressions, from smiles to grimaces to anger to thoughtfulness are all very convincing.

His VA+facial expressions, from smiles to grimaces to anger to thoughtfulness are all very convincing. That’s how I usually play - the main quests, and sidequests that have interesting questgivers. I am not big on cutscenes though when I do not have choices and just watching the character do his own thing. It bores me, and I start skipping instead of listening to the VA to read out the entire long line.

Extremely drowsy musings incoming...
I’d really like it if AC Origins had a NG+ that raised all foes to Bayek’s current character level. I’d get to keep all of my hard-won gear and hard-earned skills, which is my main wish. Secondly, this game really needs an “even ground” type of mod. One can curb stomp at-level foes pretty easily; particularly with legendary gear. Still, it’s better than the automatic one-hit kills scored against most under-leveled opponents.
Another advantage would be getting the opportunity to sample more weapons. This is already perfectly doable; but I find myself using the same few weapons once legendaries start appearing. I’m such a sucker for the “optimal” path, sometimes.
Lastly, I wish that the “Trials of the Gods” results were linked to our Ubi account instead of an individual PT/save. I got very tired of having to close the advertisement every time I opened the menu on my second, lower-level PT. I’d already unlocked the “Conductor of Souls” sword within an hour of the Trials starting with my first PT/save. It would’ve been cool to have level-appropriate versions of this gear carry over to all PTs. What happens when the Trials and any story DLC end? These items become useless, never to be seen again relics? They’ll be tied to old, played out PTs. Ubi should try to link these to UPlay, methinks.

Purchased the Ezio collection to replay it after a few years away... god damn it is night and day to Origins. I’ve heard some say AC2 has aged poorly and does not stack up anymore, but it just feels so much crisper, so more impactful, and even before officially gaining Ezio’s assassin status, I feel far more like one than Bayek or Aya ever did.
I hope Ubisoft looks backward a little to reclaim what Origins lost while still maintaining some of the nice improvements. There is a good foundation to use from it and older titles. Though why a 8 year old game has far more customisation available is mind boggling to me.

I still remember playing it back in 2009 when it came out and it was such a blast! That game was a huge improvement over the first AC in every regard(not that i didn't like the first one, it still is what got me in to the series back in 2007). After Ezio though my hype died little by little until i sadly didn't care for the games anymore. I'll be getting Origins next month and i hope it'll bring me back again.

Ocelot , There is a lot to do, I know. I tried breaking it up a bit. I'd do a couple of the (!) and then some of the ? and then maybe explore a bit, do a fort, then back to the story a bit. I'd feel the itch, like...okay, missing the story now, time to go back. Hope you are enjoying the game! Element Zero I agree, I think having the weapons bind to your Uplay account will probably be better in the long run unless after a bit they are just going to keep randomly spawning the Trials for people to get the stuff years from now. snook I tried the hippodrome once, I found it pretty hard to control the chariot. Maybe because I play with a controller? I might try on KB at another time. Kabraxal I have an unpopular opinion, I prefer the old combat and even though I enjoyed ACO, I would love nothing more than to have them return to Assassin combat. Charging in with a sword and shield didn't feel very AC'ish to me and I'm guessing that's what they were trying for, and I'm sure many love it. It's just not for me. I also preferred the customization they had in ACU.

It’s almost a beat em up. While other AC games skirted that line, the counter system added a wrinkle that made the character feel like a deadly assassin. Origins... he’s a brute. Add in a gutted stealth system and I was disappointed. It felt more like Mordor or Hrizon, both gii but not what I want in an AC game.

But agree with the combat, it was not assassin'y (I forgive it some since Bayek was a medjay and not an assassin until later). I *much* prefer how it was before.

Looted my first pyramid. As a kind of history geek, that was pretty goddamn cool. I'm in love with the atmosphere of the game. So glad they had the time skip option because nighttime in Egypt is the best time. The downsides continue to be the story and undeveloped characters, but the open world and combat is leagues better than any other AC game for me.

I agree with the pyramids, atmosphere and open world (which they've always been good at, imo) and I also agree the story could have been more and they could have developed the characters so much more. I really wanted to see more of Cleopatra and Ceasar. But I disagree about the combat, as I've said more times than anyone cares to read that I HATE IT!
