Man, watching me scramble after getting busted in an outpost and after they call the Phylakes is like the intro to the Benny Hill show. I'm all over the fucking place running and trying to kill them at the same time. Your horse sure comes in handy with the Phylakes though. Horse combat in general is surprisingly good.

When it comes to characters it feels like pretty much all of their love was poured in Bayek, and to a lesser extent Aya. They're both wonderful characters. But side characters? Eh...there are no Blackbeards, Mary Reeds, or Adewales here. (Is my Black Flag fanboyism showing again?)

If I captured the above opinions, the game has become more RPG like in playing feel? Is the game playable with a keyboard and mouse? Looking for a new RPG to play but still not convinced ACO qualifies and I am tired of buying games full price to just sit in my library. A long time ago tried AC1 and it was not my cup of tea.
No interest in the controller I am all fumbles with that thing and can't operate it.

ACO did so very well but it just didn't provide those colorful side characters that you really look forward to meeting again.

No interest in the controller I am all fumbles with that thing and can't operate it. I've had issues with rebinding. Once you start to move things around, even a little, the game says invalid controls. You have to test them out for yourself to see if that's really the case though. In some instances, keys won't work at all for me. I generally use space as the 'climb up ' function, but it won't work when Bayek is in the water for some reason. I never had these issues with Syndicate. You also don't have access to all tools with hotkeys or a radial wheel. You have to go into the menu and switch them out. So it works, but there's some consolitus in the control scheme.

Oookay, all done playing a demoness, back to the AC Tried Unity, and well, the controls feel uncomfortable, but the story was calling me to continue more than when I loaded Brotherhood and ended up pretty much the same place I started with Ezio. OMG, playing that Templar during the opening sequence gave me a real heart-race. It'shilareous how the brain worls. The more they try to tell me how Assassins are so awesome, the more I am feeling for the Templars! Love reviled underdogs, I suppose Anyway, gotta run now, will sort out my complex feelings vs which man I want to be first. Liked Arno, he is so roguishly cute & does not make me go "eww" like Ezio.

Oh, hells, Brotherhood really takes off after those first few minutes! Cezare Borgia! Somebody should have told me there is Cezare Borgia innit! Brotherhood it is!!! Just been trying to get my bearings in the new set-up of the game. Mr. Dull and Mrs. Lucy got a fairly lively sequence (for them). But Ezio's stuff is better, though the 50% synchronization is soooo annoying. I have no idea how to find the 50% and replay them? And if I have to? Weird stuff.

I completed a second PT of this game yesterday. As is typical of of second PTs, I was able to appreciate some things more, and to form better developed opinions. (Whether I’m able to express them well now, we’ll see, as I watch my Eagles play the Cowpies.)
I really benefitted from having a better understanding of combat, the economy and which specific weapons I most like. I fell in love with spears. Finally, spear and shield fighting is a great choice in a video game. Full disclosure: I used my Helix Points earned back in AC Syndicate to purchase “The Lance of Anhur” legendary spear. The game is sadly deficient in legendary spears in comparison to nearly every other weapon type. Knowing which weapons to never waste drachmae upgrading, I was pretty wealthy in mid to late game.
I discovered the Protector outfit after somehow missing it during my intial PT. It’s by far my favorite outfit. It’s the “Medjay uniform” that Hepzefa wears, and that Bayek wears in flashbacks. I was even pleasantly surprised that the medjay badge updates with story progression. I was impressed that this was the case with an optional outfit.
The pacing in the late game is a little better than I intially credited it. As with any open world game, this is heavily influenced by the player’s choices and “order of attack”.
I was impressed by little things like environmental effects. Oil is a great example. I noticed I’d left a beautifully executed oil slick as I walked through some waist-deep water. I then set it briefly ablaze as an experiment. Another time, I had to outrun/tumble as fire chased me across a courtyard. I’d recently shattered some oil jars, and didn’t realize that this results in leaving a trail. I twice incinerated myself during this PT, after using a flaming weapon while doused with oil. Pretty funny. I also incinerated many kitties, since they tend to follow Bayek into explosive situations. They’re cute, dumb things.
Since I knew I’d never use two high-cost skills, that freed up 5 points I could spend differently. I got to buy a legendary chariot in this PT, and had fun with it. They’re noisy, fast and create humorous NPC interactions. I like that NPCs nearly universally defer to chariot traffic. In most cases, nothing is better for a long-distance jaunt. The legendary “royal chariot” offers some good damage protection, too. It’s definitely superior to mounts in this regard.
I like the combat in this game pretty well. I love the addition of the shield. I had doubts going into the game, but it’s awesome. Catching arrows in the shield and eventually shooting them back into their senders is great! Applying effects via blocking and parrying is cool. I wish Alexander’s Shield were a legendary item, as it’s the best-looking shield in the game. I also like the basic Medjay shield and Aya’s shield. There are other cool designs to be found.
I don’t like how oversized the weapons are. The swords and heavy weapons look ridiculous. In a series that generally tries to accurately reproduce the details, this is annoying. I imagine they had video gameitis, and thought that realistic weapons weren’t visually impressive. It’s exactky the opposite for me. Fortunately, spears are slightly less atrocious looking. (They dramatically shorten when “holstered” on Bayek’s back. 😆) This is a minor quibble, but something I’d love to see change at some point in some VG.
I have more opinions, but I fear I’ll start rambling as I type and watch football. I really enjoy this game. I am tempted to keep playing it, though I’ve spent a ton of time with it already. I would love more content now, but January is not too long a wait for the first story expansion. I hope it’s good. I’ve enjoyed the main game enough that I’ll likely buy it, assuming solid reviewer feedback.

Eh...there are no Blackbeards, Mary Reeds, or Adewales here. (Is my Black Flag fanboyism showing again?) Since there was no brotherhood and no pirate crews, I don’t really consider this as a strike against Origins. I thought that there were some reasonably moving side quests and NPCs. I thought the content with Hotophres and his family was very good. I also liked Taharqa and his town a lot. Some of the Masked Ones were pretty cool. While this game had fewer “buddies”, I thought the NPCs across the board were generally excellent. Many times even minor, virtually nameless NPCs had me laughing aloud or shaking my head with their stories. The first expansion should be an opportunity to introduce those companion type NPCs, since it focuses on the early brotherhood. It arrives in January!

Its killing me not playing but my finances are holding me back. Each time I can afford it we have had a bill or today my daughters laptop died which she needs for school so I have tpo put my purchase on hold again. Aaaaaaahhh its a damn conspiracy Maybe you’ll be able to grab it near half-price during holiday sales. That’s a nice reward for waiting a month. I’ve greatly enjoyed the bonus items and stuff that comes with the Delixe Edition. In my opinion, it’s worth the extra few bucks. (It’s $10 more at full price.) You get multiple legendary items from the start, and they’re nice enough that you’ll likely keep using them throughout the game. ”The Fang” is a poisonous khopesh that has no equal, mechanically speaking, in its category. Desert Cobra is a very cool outfit, especially for the arena, wilderness marauding, or just looking menacing. You get “Fangs”, a legendary horse who looks pretty badass. I can’t recall what else came from the deluxe edition, but I’m glad I chose it. I wish their Ubistore items weren’t so overpriced. You can pay the equivalent of $5 for two weapons. I feel like that’s steep. Mounts are about $5. That’s way too much for a cosmetic item. There’s a “Roman Legionnaire” pack that is about $15. It’s a horse, outfit, and a few weapons that aren’t better than the available in-game options. I can’t imagine what anyone who buys that is thinking. I’m cool with weapons and/or outfit packs. Some of my favorite stuff in Mass Effect cane from such packs. It’s Ubi’s pricing that seems insane. (The Legionnaire and Horus packs are included as part of the Season Pass.) Speaking of the Season Pass, it’s $40. If the two expansions are even close to TW3 expansion quality, it’s a steal! Who believes that this will be the case, though? Likely no one anywhere. $40 isn’t a bad price if each expansion is sizable and of high-quality; especially if you throw in the item packs and Helix credits you get. There’s no way to know if this will be a good deal, though, until after the second story DLC launches in April/May 2018. So, it makes you either wait until all DLC is out and reviewed, or risk paying for crap. I hate season passes. The price is too high, and Ubi’s delivery often underwhelming. I’ve gone off on another tangent. 😒 You’re only a few weeks past release, so you’re not faring too poorly! Once you do own it, you’ll have it for years, so no huge rush.

I took out the Lizard in about five minutes. Picked a random spot on the wall, climbed over, and there he was bedding down for the night, hacking his guts up. That kind of random stuff makes the game better imo. Only the Crocodile remains. 41% completion with 52 hrs and 1610 kills. I might start to fast track things a bit. I love Memphis. The boss fight and cut-scenes associated with the first quest you get there are very cool. I'm kinda hoping they add another difficulty level because I'm such a sadist. I suspect late game I'll be a bit OP. And really, I'm not paying much attention to weapon effects or stats. I'll definitely be replaying this and I'm hoping they get more ambitious with their DLC this time, in which case I'll get it.

I'll definitely be replaying this and I'm hoping they get more ambitious with their DLC this time, in which case I'll get it. I agree about NPC routines really adding to the game. I caught the Lizard sleeping my first PT. In the second, he was taking an evening stroll. Tactics and approach can be very different based upon day/night, enemy routine, or even weather. No one can see anything in a sandstorm. On my second PT, I chose to go to Memphis before the Faiyum. I hit Level 40 in Giza, before heading to Faiyum. It's definitely no more challenging than any other AC game. If you enjoy side quests and complete most/all of the game, you hit the level cap pretty quickly. (You do keep earning skill points beyond level 40, for those who haven't played.) I only pay attention to gear properties because they're so damn fun. Poisoning a few dudes in combat can create a ridiculous mess if NPCs wander in afterward. Setting people on fire is always fun. Setting myself on fire, occasionally, is likewise sort of funny. There is definitely no need to optimize, but I still enjoy the different gear. I really like spears a lot, at present. A good spear and a flaming sword make a fun loadout. (A flaming spear would be too much fun for me.) With my second PT, my arsenal is so loaded it's a blast. I managed my drachmae with the understanding of experience, and so have far more high-level options in my inventory.

They said I need to be on a special bus, well, I will ride the special bust then The good thing, you can actually play a girl in Brotherhood. The MP mode has I think three or four girl assassin’s in fantasy period outfits. The intro mission is really boring, but by now the module should be completely devoid of other players, so no harm running around failing. I’ll try it when I get a bit of time.

Element Zero I don’t think $5 for outfit is overpriced. Most mmo charge upward from 10$ from what I remember. If people want it, let them buy it, why not...

Oh, wow, The AC:Unity sent me a "Thank you for Playing! Here is what else you can do!!!" e-mail. I guess, the game is relatively knew, because Ubisoft did not care one fig that I've played AC1 and AC2. I am used to the MMOs sending me an e-mail once in a while of the "come back! We miss ya!" nature. But an SP game tell me they saw me playing and love me? That's new

I may have a “sheltered” outlook on stuff like this. The only games in which I’ve bought item packs have been ME and DA. The DA stuff has been meh. The ME stuff has been great. In either case, $5 got me several weapons or several outfits/skins. I imagine gradual price inflation is playing a part. Still, I just think it’s a shame. If the bundles were better priced and/or more impactful, they could make cool little additions. I had enough Helix points from Unity and Syndicate to get “The Lance of Anhur”, a great legendary spear; and “Sand Dweller”, the ancient world’s fanciest camel. The spear has been game-changing for me, in better enabling a combat style, and the camel is a pretty cool addition. Still, I’d not have dropped cash on them at their current prices. If they were a bit less pricey, I probably would. I know that everyone makes their own value assessment for such things. I think the AC:O items are at least monetization done acceptably. They’re just like other small DLC packs that games have long featured. Their presence doesn’t bother me.

It’s still one of the most beautiful games around even years later. Don’t overlook the fact that the DLC expansion is free. It is set after the main story. If you play it, don’t start it until after completing the game. I’m admittedly bummed that you’ve skipped the entire Kenway/Cormac/New World games. I think some assume that the setting won’t be fun, but N America actually made for a strong setting. The Templars finally started getting their due in those games, culminating with AC Rogue’s Templar protagonist. There’s also the very cool connection between Rogue and Unity, for those that play both. Rogue, Unity and DAI all released the same day. I knew DAI would be long, so I started with Rogue, then straight into Unity and finally tackled DAI. I had some serious fatigue by 80hrs into DAI (partly due to DAI’s crummy gameplay, honestly). It was a fun week of AC, though. I particularly liked how Rogue led directly into Unity. I remember feeling icky, like I was on the “wrong side”, when Unity first began. I’d really embraced Shay and the Templar Order during Rogue. The Colonial/American Rite were awesome in general. They were definitely more sensible than the contemporaneous Brotherhood.

Element Zero dazkI am playing Brotherhood, actually. I tried Unity because the very beginning of Brotherhood was a bit disappointing going right back to the villa. But it picked up. Did not I rave about it here? I was invested the moment they shown me Cezare and Lucretia as my potential targets. Lemme get time to play some more, and I will rave some more! I am waiting for sales to buy AC3, Rogue and BF, so I won’t miss them, though, yeah, I am one of those who are not attracted by the setting. I really am committed to play my way to Origins in 2017/18

I really am committed to play my way to Origins in 2017/18 I thought you might’ve raced through Brotherhood already. That one’s my favorite in some ways, though the gameplay has vastly improved since then. Unity absolutely perfected parkour; and Origins has greatly improved the combat. I like Origins’ combat in the context of the game. A weapon and shield medjay warrior makes a lot of sense in that setting. I’m not sure how it will feel in other settings. It would definitely require tweaks. At any rate, I’m glad you’re enjoying the series and plan to play it all, or mostly. (I never played the Gameboy games, the PSP console ports nor the side scrollers.) Syndicate was the only game I’ve not liked, mostly because it ruined parkour. Rogue is one I wish could’ve received the full resources of its AAA partners. It’s good, and could’ve been even better. I loved playing as a Templar.

The Sobek trial is available now, I'm wondering if anyone has tried it yet? I'm going to try to get around to it tonight or tomorrow.
