I've been playing Syndicate the last couple days. I like it I'm glad you are enjoying Revelations so far @carefull ! Congrats on your title Kaidan Fan WHAT you are liking Syndicate....... I liked the twins, liked being in London, the story wasn't too bad but the combat and those damn carriage missions..... the game I have liked least of all of them. Been playing ACO a lot more the past week, have had to spend some time back tracking as I am now level 35 and there are a few areas I been through as parts of quests that are level 25 to 30 that I am cleaning up. I have given up my favourite poison sword in villages and cities, too many accidental deaths by Adults, kids and Cats I am pleased to report that the game is turning a corner for me. I was finding the game boring, repetitive and most of the side quests painful TBH. But since Faiyum the plot is showing some credibility, Bayek is finally expressing some emotion and a sense of humour and the side quests have actually been interesting and some quite fun. "You Liiikkee?" That kid was brilliant in that mission I am also enjoying the First Civilisation reveals so far, just wish my pc could handle playing the game and recording them to watch later. Taking 25 screenshots is a pain in the butt. On a depressing note I am still not sure if I am happy with the Crocodile quest and the killing of a child. Not being precious or anything just not sure I need that in games I play. Khemu I understand as it is setting up Bayek's motivation, not sure I needed to see how it affected or motivated Khenut and Hotpants Got the "Pimped Up" achievement yesterday and have started taking down Phylakes like a boss, sure that comment's gonna come back and bite me Pic's: Loved this mission: This one too, it felt meaningful: And this one was pretty funny:

dazk , I was waiting for you to reach the Faiyum. I hoped you’d enjoy this region more. Also, it takes until higher levels for Bayek to get a full toolbox mechanically. I really like the gameplay the most once I hit Level 40 and exit the equipment merry-go-round. If they add NG+, I may never play from Level 1 again. I think levels are useless and out of place in AC. I think the game is amazing through The Scarab, Lizard and Crocodile. The rest are fun, but the game shines in these quests and stories. The region(s) is also beautiful and full of life. My least favorite foe was the Hyena. I thought, “This person is insane. The Order trusted this person why?” There were letters that showed they really didn’t trust the Hyena, but why invest any responsibility at all in this person. The character could’ve worked, but needed work. I also hated the VA work. Way too over the top.

The character could’ve worked, but needed work. I also hated the VA work. Way too over the top. Yeah it has been much better, there is still some drudgery in some of the side missions but in the most part the quality is much improved. I found a whole Level 20 to 25 area that I had obviously been to once but not gone back to again, so I am clearing that atm which is a bit boring but my own fault. I am now level 38 and am holding off on any upgrades till I hit L40, really do not want to have to upgrade twice and waste the cash. I just found another of the First Civ tombs but it sounded like it should have been before the one I found yesterday and I think I may have missed one earlier on but will just wait till I finish and watch them again online (taking 25 screenshots is a waste of disk space . Yeah the Hyena was a nut case and I am finding a lot of the VA work is terrible in that it just sounds either deep south voodoo crazy person accent or it just sounds like someone trying to do an accent they cannot master.

Anyone able to kill to fucking war elephants? Goddamn. Today I went and fought my first one after a long break from the game. It was a lvl 40 elephant in the White Desert with a mental amount of health otherwise that elephant really wasn't an issue. Expecting the others to be harder since this one didn't even hit that hard

Finished at over 100 hours with an 83% completion. Man, I wish the writing was stronger in this game. I want to connect more with these characters and the plot but it's just not there. It is decent, and many side quests were solid, but the main quest felt really disjointed. There were two things I loved: combat and world design. Combat is unquestionably an improvement and Ubi would be crazy to ditch this system. It's visceral, challenging and varied. The world is one of the most impressive game worlds I've seen. I really do consider it on par with the likes of TW3, Red Dead and Skyrim. I can't believe how many times I went to a seemingly random bandit camp to discover multiple ways of infiltration, some under water, some up high. The effort they put into level design is amazing. And then there's the artistic quality and authentic feel of Egypt. I think the basic template of this game is an improvement and they need to push it further - more custom side quests, more in depth RPG mechanics and hire better writers. Please don't go back to the tired formula of past games.

Happy New Year!
Well, I just got kicked off my own rig again, but I managed to get through some Istanbul scenery. And experience the new addition to the curnicopia of the tasks, the defence of the Tower. But I love the company, Yusuf reminds me the handlers in the first Creed.
Feel a bit resentful that now I have to renovate Istanbul. Seriously, we can’t even get out act together to renovate the bathroom that needed it for years... and here I am renovating historic cities... lol.
Oh, and, yeah, I have another name for that awesome city, Czargrad, that what it was called in classic Russian tradition.

So in ACO today I died for the first time in ages and was extremely unimpressed I seem to be experiencing an issue especially now at the higher levels where arrows often do not do any damage but the enemy is aware they were shot at? It has been happening a lot and totally ruins my stealth attempts on forts etc. I am also having an issue where the reticule says the enemy will be killed in one shot only for the arrow to not kill the enemy again meaning my cover is blow. Yesterday in the large fort where you have to kill the commander for the saving Faiyum mission, there was one captain who seemed to be immune to arrows, he should have died in one shot according to the reticule but took no damage. I also fired at least 2 more arrows into him that did nothing and when I went in to Melee against him the Overpower would start but then just stop and my adrenaline bar would be partly reduced so the guy would get a few free hits as well. Anyway that's how I died as the guy was taking at least 20% of my health every hit as well. Anyway other than that I had fun being "The Crazy Siwan" do you get to call yourself that in the Cyrene arena? Pic's: Another Phylake bites the dust I really don't want this guys job:

Hmm. I thought I was posting in this thread, but I guess it was the "What did you do...?" thread. I cleansed Egypt and Libya of war elephants on Nightmare. The keys to relatively easy victory were a poisonous bow, a Health on Hit weapon, and muh mad skillz. I don't feel like reposting more detail. Maybe I'll copy and paste from my other post. Edit: more details in the link bsn.boards.net/post/957100

I completed all of Memphis, Saqqara Nome and Giza yesterday and today. I have the Hidden One of Giza left to slay before moving South and East.
RNG has been terrible this PT, again. I get garbage items all of the time. They’re also generally dramatically under-leveled, since the game gives you items matched to the region’s suggested level-range. Enemy-scaling doesn't change this. Sigh. I’m also running very low on soft leather all of the time. I guess I didn’t spend enough time killing creatures. I did ungraded my equipment in a different order this time. My hidden blade, quiver and melee bracer are 100%. My ranged bracer needs one more upgrade. My armor needs two, I think. Tools? Lol. They’ll get upgraded once I have nothing else to go with those materials.
The ugly, bugged equipment is messing with my enjoyment. I can’t settle on something I like seeing. I like the Protector outfit, and even “Bayek’s Oufit”, but not with the bugged gear. I hope we’ll get a fix when the DLC releases. I did get the Mummy outfit in my first Reda job of this PT. I mummied my way through Alexandria, killing Gennadios and aiding the poets before returning Bayek to life. I wish these outfits were unlocked in other saves. The fantasy stuff might be fun in the Field of Reeds/Thebes-hallucination DLC in March. That’s the time for flaming horses, mummies, and outfits tied to the gods, if ever there is one. I’ve also unlocked multiple (poorly leveled) iterations of the Serpent Axe. It’s a great weapon I’d never even see until the last two weeks.
I’m in the early 30s, at the moment, but can’t wait to hit level 40. (In real life, I’m pushing 40 and wish I could roll back the body to 23!) I want to upgrade non-trash, non-FFXV gear. It occurred to me earlier that a lot of players may’ve blown their post-game bank upgrading everything to 40. The Hidden Ones will raise the level cap, though (maybe to 50?), so those items will soon be in need of further investment. Level 40 is an expensive upgrade (often 6000+). Will a presumptive Level 50 be 10K? We will presumably get access to new items, so we’ll see how that goes. It would be interesting replaying the entire game at level 60, assuming an eventual NG+ and both DLC level increases. That’s just conjecture and musing, for now.
If this PT at all begins to feel formulaic or like grinding, I’ll abandon it. I’ve been playing this a lot, so the risk is there. I’ve sctuslly been itching to jump back into AC Unity, so that’s likely where I’d turn.

Leveled loot/gear( quests/etc)+open world: do not work together. I'm not the biggest fan on the series, but Souls really handled this well. Separate weapons/armor through different categories and aim for greater variation to their properties ( so there is no ultimate stat: like DPS or Damage reduction)...pro/con approach. Use upgrade system as way of balancing different tiers of equipment ( what is more accessible, is generally weaker, but more easily upgradeable and vice versa).

Superhik, I don’t think AC really gains much from artificial levels in any other regard, either. They use the levels to impose a linear flow to their story, I suppose. What would’ve been bad about simply letting us attack the Masked Ones and regions of the map in whichever order we wish? (I guess we can do so to a point, in the Scarab/Lizard/Crocodile segment.) Levels are unneeded when the narrative is spread across several years. Give me free reign of the map in 48 BCE, and then just drop in more content in 47 BCE in Cyrenaica/Eastern Pentapolis. There’s no need to use levels when time makes for better division of story milestones. I thought Unity’s minor leveling/tiers were okay, ranging from 1-5. It made sense that Arno grew more skilled and hardy over the course of the story. Also, the difference between 1 and 5 wasn’t nearly as drastic as 1-40. The introduction of more leveling and significant health bars in Syndicate felt unneeded. They further developed it in Origins, and it still feels unneeded. I’m not a fan of leveled gear in RPGs, and I think it’s entirely out of place in Assassin’s Creed. I’ve never played the Souls series, but even ME2 took a different approach to gear. We found or developed an item and that was it. Later advances could be applied to those weapons, but weren’t essential. Having weapons become completely useless when “too low-level”, as in ACO, is illogical and annoying. The Souls approach sounds pretty good. I wish the tone were more to my liking, because many of the mechanics of those games seem intriguing.

I think the whole leveling things is a mess. I have been level 40 for a bit now and the game is 65% complete and yet the map is still 40% uncleared. I have been going back through all the areas cleaning up all the markers I missed or chose not to do and yeah the loot drops have been terrible. Element Zero funnily enough I also did the Poets missions yesterday in Alexandria Yesterday I had dramas in combat with dodge being inconsistent in working and "R" not registering to drop smoke screen. I actually thought it must have been my keyboard after a thorough clean which revealed it was actually quite clean it appears to have been the game. I went to do Reda's daily mission and he sent me to an unexplored Level 38 to 40 area to a 3 spear fortress. I was nervous and excited but very quickly angry. I trapped the warning fire which placed me near the commander who was Level 39, I threw 4 sleeping darts at him from cover with no effect. I climbed above him and attempted an assassination, didn't work so ran to get some space and soon had 6 guys attacking me at once. Could clearly see the commanders swings and the area marker where it would hit and hit "dodge", nothing lose 1/3 of my health, hit dodge again nothing lose 1/3 of health so I think quick drop smoke screen (for PC its "R") nothing, hit it repeatedly, nothing. So with one little square of health left I decided I wouldn't give them the pleasure of killing me and jumped off a cliff and desynched Just a note at the time this was happening my brother in-law was watching and he could clearly see me hitting the buttons and was saying why isn't it working???? So anyway the game respawns me but now Reda's mission has changed location and I am 800 metres from the fort I was just at and it is 800+ metres to the new objective. Being a competitive person I decide to go back to the fort, trap the warning fire, kill several guards around the commander with my bow then just take him on straight up. Four or five poison arrows, one doge and get behind him and two hits and he's dead. What is going on game!!!!!!! I am not good at this type of combat where I have to hit/hold multiple keys in the middle of combat BUT when its as straight forward as hitting R or Spacebar and my hardware is functioning fine I can only guess its the game not responding and it makes playing very frustrating!!!! So after killing everyone in the fort and rescuing some spy of Apollodoros's, I then go to Reda's missions new location, it only has 3 Level 34 guards (?????) who never saw me . The fort had at least 30 all >Level 33. Anyway moving right along, Partying hard with the poets:

o yesterday was long and tedious opened up a new section north of Siwa that I think had a total of six quests, so lots of travel and not much excitement, either animal killing or just very easy opponents. Moved to the next area and got some good quests like the Oracle of Apollo and the mission to help the two Gladiators, missions with a bit of beef to them and some feel good moments. Did the part of the gladiator quest to survive 5 waves on Horde mode and managed to hang in there till wave 15 where the level 43 guys just owned me from the start I fought another Elephant as well, not a fan and I seem to have no trouble until the damn things get to one third health. Helping the Gladiator and his family:The kids in this game have the funniest lines:The Oracle of Apollo had lots of interesting things to say:I am Gladiator which funnily enough I watched as it was on TV last night:

So lots of map clearing today no real highlights but the game crashed 4 times in 4 hrs. I think I have had only one crash in the other whole 80hrs I have played so that's not a good sign. Of course the last crash was just as I had cleared nearly every guard and the Captain and Commander without being seen in a 3 spear fort. Why is Quick save not an item in every game!!!!!!

dazk , you make me glad I play on PS4. I’ve probably experienced a bug or two, but I can’t tell you what they might’ve been. (There’s an ambient dialogue bug in Memphis. That’s the only one I experience regularly.) Your ACO experience sounds worse than playing MEA. I’ve just attained Level 39 in Krocodilopolis. I was afraid that this PT might start to drag, but it’s still been fun. I broke down and indulged in some microtransactions because I’ve had enough of wantonly slaughtering wildlife. Killing some animals is fine. I feel like I’m massacring ecosystems, though, and it gets ridiculous. With the MT, I’ll never have to go out of my way to kill animals for leather again. I’m happy with that. I used my leftover points to nab a couple of items. I got the Isu shield, which is a poor man’s Tomb Protector. TP is better, but isn’t universally attainable. I got the mummy outfit from Reda. It was cool to finally see it. (I think I already mentioned this. :/ ) Something I meant to mention but forgot is a quest/conversation I always enjoy. A certain merchant in Memphis acts like a disrespectful dickbag, and this leads to me torching his merchandise. Setting big ass fires in this game is always enjoyable. Humbling him makes it extra nice. I also get a kick out of Bayek’s commentary on bandits and deals with bandits. Idiot: “I didn’t know they were those type of bandits.” Bayek: “There are no other type of bandits! ... You are a danger to yourself.” Bayek is very likable and very well acted. While I feel that they could tie up this era satisfactorily in the DLC, I’ll not be too annoyed if Bayek appears in another game. He’ll be aging by the end of THO expansion, so we’ll see. I’d actually thought Senu might be dead by then and maybe Bayek could learn to use his own senses like later Assassins. (I actually hoped, not expected.) It turns out that eagles live to be decades old, though. Unless she’s as old as Bayek himself, she should have plenty of life in her during the DLC. I like Senu because I like animals. That said, from a mechanical standpoint, I’d prefer Eagle Senses along the line of Unity to the AC Edition UAV that is Senu. I hope this is the only AC game in which they choose to implement this mechanic. They claimed the idea came from seeing concept art of an Assassin with an eagle. It’s convenient, though, that it’s a regurgitated mechanic from other Ubi games. If you’ve played one... No matter the release date for The Hidden Ones, I’m going to take a break after this PT. I don’t want to burn out on this game. I’ll play THO at release. In general, though, I think I’m ready to do something else for a while.

I was fairly burnt out on the number of military outposts. It's hard not to get OCD and clear each camp that I come across but it's damn tiring. They're bloody huge, most of them. I never did kill all the Phylakitai either.

Hey Element Zero have to give credit where credit is due, Origins has been the most stable game I think I have ever played till yesterday and very few bugs other than the combat ones I have mentioned previously (if they are bugs). Yesterday just using intuition it seemed to maybe be a server issue, the game would literally just stop and go straight to a black screen, only a momentary freeze before CTD. The only other things it may have been are 1) I had a windows update before playing and 2) It was over 45 Celsius here yesterday, over 47.5 in some parts of Sydney. My PC sits under an air con vent so it wasn't my PC getting hot but it may have been messing with the power supply to the house as some suburbs had blackouts. slimgrin727 I am with you re the forts I also can't help but clear them and clear the actual forts 100% of guards and loot. I think the game is too bloated with forts and animal lairs, like you said Element Zero I love animals and whilst I can see it was a practicality of life back then for the real purpose of crafting BUT this is a game. I thought the same thing as you re depopulation, there were areas earlier on where I probably (if it was real life) would have exterminated populations. I think it was Kaidan Fan who said she couldn't do the elephant missions, its weird attaching emotions to a beast that has been trained to kill etc. (I read the note in the camp) but I killed another one yesterday and it just made me feel dirty given their current plight in the world, will bypass anymore I think. Yeah I remember that merchant, took me a few minutes to realise that there were no more clues and he had the answer so time to bust his shit up . I also remember the conversation about Bayek being a "danger to himself". The best parts off the game have been where they get the emotional tone right and especially when blended with good and appropriate humour. What the hell was the quest about rescuing the old guy on the side of the road who says he was attacked by a manticore, I felt there was some hidden message or it was meant to be a reference to something but it went over my head if it was. Yeah I think I mentioned my dislike of the Senu system when I first started playing, I love Senu but I feel it makes things too easy especially taking down Forts and bandit camps because it allows me straight away find the best entry point which in previous games has required more investigation and sometimes trial and error . It is also a pain in the populated areas as Senu wants to highlight everything within a certain radius and it also takes more time. I like Bayek, he has grown on me but I haven't seen the end yet so at this stage I'd be happy to have him as a protagonist again but I'll have to reserve final judgement till the end. Speaking of, almost at the point of abandoning the optional stuff and finishing the story. I still have 3 whole areas to open up and one of them the Qattar Depression looks enormous. Not sure, I have never done that before in a game, will see.

dazk, the Qattara Depression is a pretty inhospitable place, so it’s not packed with content in Origins. The same is true of the deep deserts, which are empty in a couple of cases. Which areas are you thinking to skip? I can at least tell you if there are lots of quests/sites or not.
