I don't know how you finished the DLC that fast Element Zero! I finally finished a couple of days ago and I really enjoyed it. I had fun. I liked the exploring. The afterlife stuff was great. Everything was beautiful. Now I can start a NG+ when I'm ready

Everything was beautiful. Now I can start a NG+ when I'm ready This is the one upside to disability— gaming time increases dramatically. When something is new, I play like my life is at stake. I gotta see the end of the story! The TotG is running weekly, now. I already acquired all of the Community Challenge prizes, so I do them just to contribute to the collective effort. There is a new Anubis set, though, with a “bloody” theme. Yuck. Since I already have Jackal’s Gaze from my very first PT, I’ll get the shield and outfit whenever I complete the challenge this week. (These final pieces are earned by defeating the gods at level+3, regardless of difficulty setting.) I have mixed feelings about ACO. The baseline game is good. The added, fantasy-style content is good. I don’t particularly like the mixing of the two. It’s not even CotP that I mean. It was great! It’s the fact that all of the creative effort seemed funneled toward fantasy outfits, oversized fantasy weapons and monstrous mounts. There just isn’t room good that in Assassin’s Creed, in my opinion. I like AC for the historical tourism and the Assassin/Templar war. Flaming horses just muddy the waters and dilute my enthusiasm, no matter how cool they look. Yes, that stuff is entirely optional, but nearly all of the added content is non-historical and/or non-Egyptian. It’s disapointing. Everyone here likely knows of my love for Han Dynasty China. What I don’t love is getting Chinese armor in lieu of Ptolemaic, Parthian or Egyptian garb. They just ran out of ideas too quickly. I strongly suspect that the next game will be in Greece, despite my preference for Palestine (or really anything else). It will be Greece past its prime, much as we just played Egypt waaay past its prime. Wherever and whenever the next game is set, I hope they put more effort into more believable content.

I'll see your disability and raise you unemployment in terms of time to game!!!!!! Mind you I am guessing you don't have the same expectations placed on you in terms of Chores and Cooking etc.... I am glad CoTP is good, but I am going to sit out giving a final judgement on the base game till I finish the DLC as well. I am hoping the DLC will spark a flame of enjoyment that makes me want to play an NG+ whole game again because I was under whelmed in my previous play through. I think its beautiful and some of the missions are great but........ it really didn't keep me engaged, even to the point I have been postponing playing the DLC. MEA I would have been on to DLC the second it was released if we had any. Sigh :sob:

dazk, my disability includes gainful unemployment. Thank goodness for good insurance. If your body is going to just come apart one day, having insurance to replace your income is a lifesaver. I’m trying to contribute more in the new place. It’s set up better to allow me to help out during the day. It might take me all day to do what others can quickly finish; but it’s still stuff my wife won’t have to do after work. CotP is really fun. If they revealed a fantasy/mythology game tomorrow that was made similarly, I’d buy it on day one. I’m even okay with it being in AC, since it’s tied believably enough to the PoE. I like ACO, but I feel like the creative team just got enraptured with the mythology of Egypt and lazy with the historical side. If they’re going to go full bore fictional with the outfits, why not create some gear that at is at least inspired by reality? The content exactly matches the impression that an early interview with the art team gave me— they weren’t inspired by, and even felt restricted by, the limited range of historical items. They got all of this mythological stuff into their heads and just went overboard with it. This is by far the least “historically impressive” AC for me in most ways. For everything they did right, they added 5 more silly distractions to the game. Eventually it just stopped feeling like AC and felt like a mediocre fantasy hodgepodge. Since they’ve likely made a killing on these ridiculous MT items, I worry about the quasi-historical fidelity of the next entry.

Since they’ve likely made a killing on these ridiculous MT items, I worry about the quasi-historical fidelity of the next entry. Hey Element Zero getting made redundant in 2011 then having a severe arm injury back in 2012 really was bad timing for me. It meant aged 46 I was out of the workforce for almost 3 years before I had full use of my arm again and at that age (and I am now even older) employers just aren't interested. Especially as the industry I was in at a senior level was already down scaling. So my pay out from work and equity we had in our house has got us through with my wife working like a Trojan to keep us afloat. It's not ideal but we are all happy (well mostly ) and healthy and that's what matters. I am glad your insurance has worked out for you, here it can be a nightmare. Anyway re ACO I think you sum it up perfectly, I just hope CoTP isn't like the God Challenges, that type of combat I detest to be honest. Same with whatever Ancient One you fight who kept teleporting everywhere!!!! I wouldn't mind if it is Greece but as you say if the next one is in a shitty period of time it will probably ruin it.

dazk , no worries regarding CotP gameplay. There’s nothing like the TotG fights nor like the battle versus the head of the Order. I know you didn’t love the new combat. While the mini-bosses are designed to be tough, you don’t really have to fight them if you don’t enjoy it. The true bosses are very similar in difficulty and capability. The creativity, the visuals, etc... really push CotP over the top. I think it’s better than the main game, since it’s creatively consistent and imaginative.

I'm thinking the next game might be in Greece as well and include Bayek and Aya again. I don't mind I do agree on the gear you could buy and such being so fantasy driven. I'm kind of on the fence about it since the First Civ stuff has always seemed like a fantasy part of the game, but they did go a little over board on it.

It could easily be tied into a Greek game, since their tale spanned the Roman world. If they'd tied the fantasy stuff into the First Civ, I'd have been happy. I've wanted more minor pieces of Isu technology for years. I'm just not interested in anime-style weapons and undead horses. The horses would be badass in Dragon Age or another fantasy setting, but not in AC. I imagine they made a fortune on MTs and this will be the norm for the future. 😒

I have it on PC, my computer is 2 yrs old and it runs super smooth on highest settings for me. I've only had one random crash in almost 200 hours. Hope this helps

I play on PC and had two glitches, one was a freeze and the other a CTD, my PC has a good card but the rest of the hardware is over 4 years old so my settings were not on ultra but high.

I thought I'd also chime and say the game ran really well for me too (on a high-end PC, Ultra settings). I've finished the main game as well as all the DLC (~184 hours), with just one crash.

This was also my first AC game, and overall I was pretty impressed.
While I thought the Hidden Blades DLC was... a bit weak, the very good Curse of the Pharaohs DLC more than made up for that.
I just wish we had an Aya/Amunet DLC to tie up her many plot threads (including Cleo's).

This Month In Assassin's Creed OriginsLooks like they're adding a panel to adjust numerous settings within the game for customization of game play and the like. More info to come. For PC players only atm, it seems.

😒 Hey Element Zero its been a while, good to see you back. IF it follows on to Greece what time period do you think they'll jump to? Hey, dazk, sorry I disappeared again. I’ve been busy with other things. I’m also trying to sleep at night instead of hanging on the BSN. I think they’ll keep Bayek as the protagonist and have him head north to Greece. I think Palestine would be really cool, but I’ve expected Egypt -> Greece -> Rome to be the sequence since before we even knew much about Origins. The region and decade is just too packed with potential to not fully develop it. I’m a bit bummed by the fact that the Brotherhood is now officially dated to ~43 BCE. That precludes a more ancient game. I always thought Warring States era China would be a lot of fun. They could still visit much later periods in China. No country has more devastating regime changes than China. Their history is packed with good potential. As a general comment, I thought Isidora was strikingly beautiful in CotP. She wears a ton of makeup, but what pretty makeup it is. I was ready for Bayek to forget Aya about 5 seconds after seeing her, story hurdles aside.
