There's a female playable protag right? Will have to see the finalise gameplay. Even if it's good, the 'paperwork' is going to be a downer. dazk , same sentiments here. I love to sneak around and stealth kill. Reason why I'm never tired of Dishonored II and the reboot Tomb Raider series. I've fond memories of the old AC. If you haven't played it yet, I recommend playing the Deus Ex games since it has gameplay that allows that as well.

Yay I am not alone, yeah I miss the old AC and I remember when they introduced the sleep darts and crazy darts thinking wow that's radical!!!! It will be interesting to see how an AC game goes without the actual premise of being an assassin and more just a gun for hire. I know they have stated that you are going to be a descendant of a first civ person and have a first civ weapon but I am just not sure how an AC game is going to feel with choices etc. and how it will affect the narrative of the whole overarching AC story. Or is this where they move away from all that???? I enjoyed Dishonored 1 but never had any real interest in 2, gameplay I saw just didn't grab me. How would you rate/describe it against 1?

If you haven't played it yet, I recommend playing the Deus Ex games since it has gameplay that allows that as well. I did play one of the titles; DX Human Revolution but I never finished it. I recalled being bored by it or perhaps some gameplay feature was was off-putting that I dropped it completely. I watched gameplay for the sequel. Nothing grabbed me so I didn't bother. I enjoyed Dishonored 1 but never had any real interest in 2, gameplay I saw just didn't grab me. How would you rate/describe it against 1? I played Dishonored I twice I think. Dishonored II, close to ten times. I haven't touch DI for years so I've little memory of it. While I enjoyed it, it's DII that gave me the most entertainment. The amusing unexpected incidents made me To me, gameplay in Dishonored II is a step up over Dishonored I. The supernatural powers and the variety of equipment are more robust, allowing the player to decide the method and aftermath of every encounter. The maps in DII are more defined and better than DI, a playground for the supernatural powers with interesting pieces; a moving mansion, watching and acting both in the past and present. Corvo's Blink functions like a grapple and the travelled distance is short. Emily's Far Reach has a longer stretch and does more than move her about, she can use it to grab people and objects. She also has unique powers; mesmerise, domino and shadow walk. Imo, she's more powerful than Corvo. In DII, I find the most useful ability of Corvo's is Bend Time. Other than that, I don't find him fun to play. Canonically, DII is Emily's story, not Corvo. It's great the devs added him as a playable protag as it is a bonus to hear his side of the story. On the +++ side, for me, the main protag is female. I've a preference for female avatars / protags over males. For me, I rate DI as a 8. DII as a 9.

Its pretty much the exact same, the only real difference being that abilities are different if the player chooses to play as Emily (which they should). Her abilities more or less accomplish the same thing, though she doesn't have "Possession" or some equivalent. Which was kinda OP anyway.

And I really miss the first civ storyline. I wish they would include more of that IN the game and not in the comics I really miss the Templars. My only real hope for this game is that our protagonist gets to join/further develop the Order of the Ancients. Since it was seemingly founded in Amarna Period Egypt by Smenkhkare, "founding" isn't the right word. I'd like to play a role in reestablishing the order (in Greece, no less) nearly 1000 after its founding. I know it's " Assassin's Creed", but I find both organizations equally idealistic and flawed. We need more games with quality Templars. (I have always viewed the Colonial Rite as the good guys in that arc.) If this series is becoming an "RPG", being able to pick sides will a must. I don't have much interest in sailing 400 BCE vessels, playing as Leonidas' grandchild, or 300-kicking people 100m. That stuff is ridiculous and boring to me, and the kick is immersion breaking. If we at least get to participate in a proper Assassin v Templar story, even by another name, I'll be somewhat mollified. I suspect, though, that this will be my final AC. The introduction of fantasy and "RP" elements is probably going to transform the series into something that I have no desire to play. I think this will be the game in which we get more Isu-related content. We're finally armed with an Isu artifact, afterall. I've been calling for that for years. Sadly, nothing else about the story looks interesting to me. I'm sure it will be a solid game. I just doubt it will be a cool opportunity for historical tourism in 400 BCE. There will be too many flaming weapons and micro-transactions for that.

Oh well will stick to stealth and use the stupidity of shooting arrows around corners and through walls WTF. Seriously, seriously ridiculous It looks much better than Origins, in terms of swiftness and fluidity. (I know why you don't like it. Your new avatar is great.) In those terms, it looks fun to me. What I don't like is the power wheel and fantasy shit. This is exactly the type of stuff I've always wanted in the Dragon Age series. I don't want it in AC, though, where I'm supposed to be reliving the events of a real person's life. Ignoring the limitless endurance of the protagonists and the occasional assassination from too high a vantage is easy enough. Nothing they did was ever impossible. It was just impossible to do consistently due to fatigue and a high probability of death. I can't overcome the flaming, poisoned anime-sized weapons. It's too stupid. I feel the same about the power wheel, even though it being tied to a PoE at least grounds it in the lore. Meh. I'll have no trouble keeping expectations low for this one.

Yeah I agree, it does look better than Origins, I just hope it isn't the same old formulaic copy and paste situation with the forts etc. that happened in Origins. It just got boring after 120hrs. Also I hope we don't have to kill a thousand animals to make armour etc. I also agree that shooting round corners and through walls would not have looked out of place in DAI but for me it is just not what I want in an AC game, it is immersion breaking and completely unrealistic. I hope the power mapping works well, my biggest problem with ACO was that I had to remember too many things in combat in terms of holding down various keys and mouse buttons and it made it hard for me to concentrate in combat. Funnily enough I started playing DA2 yesterday for the first time in 5 years. It had its shortcomings but you can just step straight back into combat with absolutely no effort at all. I love that I click on a skill and the toon just executes it and it looks cool as well. No having to try and use WASD and hold down shift, remember to hit "F" to lock on hold down right MB to aim and then click LMB just to shoot an arrow or hit someone with my sword.

I just hope it isn't the same old formulaic copy and paste situation with the forts etc. Well, I think we can be certain of that. No one has perfected the formula for open world in that regard, and Ubi is one of the worst offenders here. I mean it was a lot better in Origins, but I'm positive the same, repetitive gameplay loop will be there. Side note. I discovered that a former TW3 narrative designer worked on this.

I think Origins suffered from the "volume" of it all. I loved doing the forts in AC3 and BF because they were all similar but needed different approaches that made them feel fresh each time, that was probably helped by more diverse environments as opposed to never ending sand and rock. ACO the forts are different but SENU made it to easy and allowed a similar approach to all of them, well for me anyway. Take down the guards on the walls and towers and work my way in using cheesey poison arrows etc to eliminate curious guards etc. Maybe Ubi should look at The Division, the main missions (clearing main objectives to progress the story) were all really different in that. Well that's a good sign in regards to the TW3 narrative designer.

Jorraptor is one of the few YouTubers I follow. I also really like PrettyGoodGaming. Those guys are excellent. They're the best of anyone out there, in my opinion. Much to my surprise, I've come to appreciate YongYea. He's always had top notch quality, but spends a bit too much time bashing EA. He also stretches his vids needlessly long, sometimes distorts facts, and is generally days behind PrettyGoodGaming with his coverage. I don't follow him, but I'll watch his videos from time to time.

While I'm excited to try the rpg'ness in the AC setting, I do hope they return to what AC used to be. But I feel they won't because too many will be upset that "IT'S THE SAME! IT'S OLD"
