Great. Now I have a mental image of chickens charging at the protagonist screeching "This is Sparta" and then launching into a double-footed flying kick with claws.... I...may never sleep again. Did you see the actual in-game animations in the kotaku article? Whilst they don't yell "This is Sparta" they certainly launch into a double footed flying kick.

No - didn't read the article - just saw the title and had a good laugh. This is worth the purchase price alone

Oh God. Why do you hate me? The only way this would be worse is if the chickens were being herded by Pennywise the Dancing Clown On a more serious note: I actually love it when devs put stuff like this in games, although chickens that can one-shot a player character is pretty stupid.

So here's the issue I'm having and it's bugging the crap out of me. Tried to get a picture to show it but hard when its not in motion. Highlighted part where you can see the outline of it fading/ghosting where the camera was panning, and you can also see it by his leg and weapon, the black outlines. i.lensdump.com/i/AgeT7P.jpg

I'm a little wary of what I can do in this game. Especially quests like kill the Leader. Kill x bandits is very clear cut.
When it comes to forts, I'm at a lost really. Is there a choice? Since I fought on the Spartan side in the first battle (there ins't really a choice), it doesn't make sense I would raid their forts. There's even the banner in the zone that say to initiate battles and win for the Spartans but I've no idea how to do that. Additionally, I also seeing the bar for nation strength and it seems to be Spartan.
I can't kill the stupid big pig. Kylodian something. The little piggies are very annoying. The bow does decent dmg but the draw is too slow for my taste, it gives the piggies time to charge at me. Will it level up if I wait beyond 13?

I have certainly not experienced that that I am aware of. All I can suggest is maybe do a repair or reinstall the game as it sounds like something isn't working correctly. Sorry to not be more help.

I just did the battle for Sparta where you meet the Wolf after, I am unsure if that means I am committed to Sparta or not as well. In terms of Leaders I just arrived in Phokis and the first thing I did was take down the leader, didn't even think to see if Phokis is Spartan or Athenian - ooops. Its a bit like Origins it took me age s to figure out what to do and why I was doing it, I hate that.

I only managed to get one bow shot in at the big pork before they run me down all at once. I died a few times so I'm giving up on this one for a while.

I am now regretting stumbling upon the leader and taking him out!!!!!!!! Well damn not looking forward to the pig fight!!!!!

Says to take down three of the little piggies and leave one alone, then concentrate on the big pork but it will keep calling little piggies. When it does that, take down three little piggies again. Rinse and repeat until big porker is down.

Yeah I was going to move on yesterday but as I said elsewhere I was enjoying just roaming around and taking in the scenery. I will do the battle this afternoon and move on, I am not rushing because I am going to have to stop playing for 10 days on Thursday and will lose all momentum anyway. Will pick up the pace after that. How do I get this Amazon Legendary set? Must have it, must have it I must. I believe it’s a late game set. I hope NG+ allows us to swap siblings. I do not want to grind through this game with Kassandra. I just completed a quest that frustrates me to no end. Both choices are idiotic. I can’t be explicit without spoilers. Alexios/Kassandra are bad with children. Five more minutes of effort could’ve changed a kid’s life. Ugh! Bad writing. EDIT: Alexios did say, “I should check on her later,” after walking away. There’s still hope. He’s also still a dolt. There’s middle ground between permissiveness and being a jackass. Check on the kid later. Just forwarding the time is enough. There was a happy ending with my choice. As for leaders and areas, after the tutorial conquest battle it's all open season. You are not bound with a faction, so you may raid both freely. You can even lower the power of a faction in a region and help the same faction defend it. You know, just like mercenaries used to do in those times. I helped Athens slightly at first because that's how I RPd Kassandra. Then for story reasons and because I hold a grudge, I raided Athens. And sometimes I just needed the cash, so attacked whoever was in charge of the region I was in.

As a mercenary, both sides of the conflict are fair game. I'm not fighting for one side or the other, necessarily (unless the game asks me to later). In the meantime, I'm trying to maintain a status quo (overthinking this as usual) by keeping control pretty much in line with the Peloponnesian war historically. So: Sparta - the Peloponnesian penninsula, plus Makedonia, Phokis, Boeotia and Megaris, and the islands of Kythera, Hydrea and Melos. Athenians - Attika, Melis and Lokris, plus the remaining Aegean islands. 13 regions each.

Not only you aren't committed to any faction of any region, you can lower their forces infinity times and change the leadership. You can defend or help the invasion each time. Now, I noticed two things: 1- I left one spartan region vulnerable, I didn't do conquest battle, after some time it changed for the athens. I don't know if the invasors will always win in that case or it's a rng thing. 2- Regions will naturally have conquest battles overtime.
And those beasts are indeed difficult. I didn't die for the pig, but there's one deer that's always charging swaying it's horns. You have to dodge constantly.

Got the news re the blood fever quest, can you go straight back to Kephallonia and check on Phoibe and Marcus or do you have to wait? Everything is open at any time, best I can tell. I guess I should go back and check up on Phoebe. I just hit level 40. I’ve only completed through Episode 3, but I’ve done a ton of exploration and side content. I’m glad to say that things seem to be going better for the kid I mentioned earlier. That quest had some sketchy writing. I'm a little wary of what I can do in this game. Especially quests like kill the Leader. Kill x bandits is very clear cut. When it comes to forts, I'm at a lost really. Is there a choice? You’re not going to alter the ultimate outcome of the Peloponnesian War, so do whatever you wish. I 100% every fort I encounter, regardless of who’s occupying it. I’d personally prefer to aid Athens at every turn, but Alexios has no reason to care very much either way. His enemies aren’t affiliated with any single state. I’m in Attica, at the moment, chipping away at Athens’ hold slowly enough that they’re able to recover at an equal rate. This is exactly what I want, since I certainly don’t want Sparta taking the Athenian homeland. The boar will level with you. Enemy scaling is automatic in Odyssey. That fight was long, but I managed it in one try. Those smaller boats are obnoxious. I hate them more than all wildlife excepting those ridiculous wildcats. Those cats attacked me in a swarm of 6 recently. WTH?! They’ve also ruined at least two stealthy infiltrations just as I approached a fort/camp. Little bastards.

I think i would have prefered with each region having a singular choice: Sparta or Athens. I don't know, this system feels kinda cheap and not really meaningful.

I feel exactly the same. The combat grind is long gone, but now I’m a demigod. I get that this is by design, but it’s sort of a terrible design. I don’t mind a protagonist who’s a bit of a superhero, but it’s not what I look for in AC. I miss the days of more mundane weaponry and tools. I wish Unity hadn’t bombed. It was a bit too shallow on the side content, and glutted with filler, but the mechanics and visuals were almost perfect. Improve the combat a bit, add back in the whistle/lure and the ability to move bodies, and we’re good. I’m playing on PS4 Pro, and this game does not look very good. The character models and gear are respectable, but the environments are rough. They have that gritty, granulated appearance of AC3 on Xbox360, as if I’m viewing the TV from the far side of a window screen. This is the first game I’ve played on PS4, let alone the Pro, with such dated presentation. The Pro has raised my expectations quite a bit, too. I know it’s a console, but it generally offers a good experience with UHD+HDR10. If this is the cost of having a giant world, I’d prefer it be reined in for the next game. I may prefer that anyway, given just how big this world is. I also liked the visual approach in Unity, but found the game boring. At least it was the first AC game to attempt implementing proper side quests, although poorly. Syndicate had much better side quest content, something that Origins didn't build up well upon and Odyssey is hit or miss, but with some good hits. Can't talk for the PS4, but on PC the game is absolutely gorgeous. One of the best I have seen. That's with all maxed settings on 1440p. What will it look like in 4k...

Chickens, pigs and deer.... Are are any of the people in this game dangerous? Or are you constantly on the lookout for murder-rabbits and other furry killers? Well, the mentioned boar and deer are Legendary type of beast bosses you hunt for a quest. So they are really tough. The chickens are just regular badasses. I had just one angry chicken on me so far and I was kinda had it coming because I almost ran it over with my horse. Just beware the wild cats (leopards?). They like to hide in bushes, just like you do, and ambush all of a sudden. So far 1vs1 I have seen those cats defeat a lion and a bear.

Ok after messing with some ingame options, it appears having screen space reflections on high was what was causing that strange ghosting issue. The ingame aa does cause a small amount but not nearly what i was seeing. When ssr was on high it was almost as if the character had an entire outline around them, dropped it down to medium and that is all gone! SO if anybody else ever comes across the issue I was having give that a try
