I wish they would offer mounts and ship figureheads and sails for purchase at Oikos' shop. I don't check very often but they only seem to ever offer armour pieces and weapons of which I have zero intrest in, and I'm not going to waste any more orichalcum on the crates. If they don't switch stuff up soon then I don't really see any reason to continue participating in the weekly events for the stuff. On the other hand, I really enjoy the ship events where you have to sink certain ships they have sailing around each week and you get a new sail. They're a blast to do and I love the loot you get. Anything mount or ship related makes me happy! 😁 The Athenian theme was in the shop during the opening week. I think we will see nearly everything from the Store at some point. I had great luck with the Oikos RNG at first. I got the Pegasos skin for Phobos (it’s awesome); the Poseidon ship theme (awesome); Water Born crew (my favorite crew); the Athenian theme (meh); and some lieutenant dude who looks cool but sucks. I spent a ton of orichalcum, of course. I was hunting the stuff in Phokis/Malis during my first PT. Then I decided never to do that again. It’s like walking around with your face in a phone in real life. I again have hundreds of orichalcum, but I’m waiting for the stuff I really like as you are. I did buy that Epic crown this week. It was pretty good for a warrior build. (Epic armor is better than Legendary, if you didn’t notice, since it has an extra perk.) New sails for my ship is my favorite reward. I know there are probably a couple of Alpha ships out there that I’ve not yet discovered. I think there are 25 or 26 sails at present, and I am not sure how many I have in my Alexios save.

I finally finished up the Odyssey line, Cult line and the modern day story. I have so many feelings. And more feelings. And stuff to say. And questions. Major spoilers under the tag, you have been warned! I got the good ending I think for Odyssey (family reunited). The cult leader was a surprise, I killed her. Watching Alexios die was very upsetting to me, I bawled like a baby. Then I was mad he gave Layla the staff because I feel like they're building her up to be important because he tells her that she is the one that will bring balance. And.....I still don't like her. Ugh. I still have to finish up areas of the map, I have a lot I haven't touched yet and I have some of those tablet things to solve for engravings. I will miss Alexios when I'm done. I started a Kassandra last night, she's level 2. I like her a lot so far, but she's no Alexios.

Layla is hard to like. I don’t dislike her, but I’m neutral at best. The other modern day NPCs are horrific. The writing is horribly cringeworthy, and the VAs are really bad. It’s like they’re screaming shit dialogue st the player. Whoever is handling the modern day story, or at least the character writing, casting and directing, should be replaced. It’s really, really dreadful. Those NPCs are terrible, obnoxious caricatures. It’s sad after Desmond, Lucy, Sean, Rebecca, William and even Vidic. All were well written, well acted and believable. I think Layla could be okay with better writing and direction. Her VA isn’t the problem. She delivers obnoxious dialogue in the least offensive way possible.

I don't have any opinions on Layla since there's not much exposition about her; I don't know her, which was why I expected something more revealing of the present at the end. So having nothing was The handing over of the staff was done too fast; what makes you (protag) trust her so much with the thing? While I understand the desire for rest, the lost of many through the ages but then I believed you have also gained. Couldn't you have seen the end of it yourself since you have persevered for so long?

I'm gonna put some comments about Layla under a spoiler tag, but before I do I want to say I agree with Element Zero and dazk about Shaun and Rebecca. I miss them a lot. I also think whoever is writing the MD stuff should be replaced or have some serious oversight when writing the story I do dislike Layla very much. I've read all the e-mail and omg, there are soooo many. Listened to all the recordings, etc etc and this is why I don't like her. She comes across as very arrogant and egotistical and almost like a spoiled little brat. She's real full of herself and pretty much an asshole to everyone. Seriously, just screw her, LOL. Her VA is not the problem, I agree on that, it is just how she is written. At this point I wish they would use the shroud to resurrect Desmond, bring back Shaun and Rebecca and get on with it properly, Today I did all the quests on Lesbos and searched out some of those undersea locations and killed that Black Wind ship. Had to take this pic tonight because it reminded me of my Bayek pic

Kaidan Fan, I agree regarding Layla. Those things could be easily fixed in a single game, or even a DLC expansion; but they are annoying. It’s bad writing; and all signs point toward it escalating. I’m in the thick of a second PT with Kassandra. I love her as ship captain. She has such energy and enthusiasm. She’s also humorous and believable when surprised, on fire, etc... As much as I like Alexios, I definitely enjoy her VA more. I compared it to Shepard before, and it’s a good comparison. Even though I might like one VA a bit more, they’re both good.

I keep thinking Malaka is a Greek way of saying F***! I went to look it up and it's;
Malaka is the greek way of saying wanker. ... Greek term for someone who has jerked off so many times that his brain has become soft, and he is now an idiot. In everyday speech, the word malakas is used metaphorically to mean a person who uses no common sense.
Despite playing AC 1 - 3, I don't really know the lore. I just know; travelling through ancient memories through bloodlines via a special machine to look for powerful ancient artifacts left behind by those who had come before. I don't know what happened after Desmond died, I lost interest and presumed the search goes on and on.

It can be used to call someone a dumbass, an a-hole, as an exclamation like “Shit!” or “Damn it!”. It’s pretty versatile. I do miss Desmond, but the modern story hasn’t been bad since he died. They just never finish what they start. After Desmond released Juno at the end of AC3, her story played out over multiple games, only to be finished in comics. The modern story was told through first-person employees of Abstergo, “the Templars”, for several games. It wasn’t bad. Layla seems to be an attempt to take the story back to its conceptual roots, but the character writing has been painfully cringe-inducing. It’s total ass.

I gotta say, I am also comletely lost on the present day story in this one. I played everyone of the Main AC games, except I didn't finish Unity and I didn't play Syndicate. Never played the Chronicles games (but read a little about them on the fan wiki) and never read any of the comics/books (but also read a little about stuff in those). I did watch the movie (well, you know). Overall, I consider myself fairly well versed in AC lore. In Origin, the present day story came a little bit out of nowhere but at least I got what was going on. Even better, there were some really fantastic bits in it which, offered lots of potential for future development. Basically, Layla was the first time since Desmod's death that I got really interested in the rpesent day story again and I loved it. Was really looking forwar dto continuing it (and was idsappointed that none of the Origin DLCs added anything to the Layla storyline. But now, I am sort of in the middle of the game and all I can say is WTF is this? I just discovered Atlantis (pretty cool revelation with Kassandra btw) but I still have no idea what the heck is going on with Layla and "her team". Who are all these people I keep talking with on the radio? Where did we actually get the spear and the book from? What happened after the end of origins? Did we get the PoE from Alexandria with Miles? What the fuck is going on? Yes, I read all the emails and files on the computer, listened to the audio stuff and talked to everyone. Yes, I now they were in Quebec at some point, doing something and now they are doing something else. But what's the context, what's the overall story? The present day writing is so bad, even if they clean it up before the game end, it can't even be called in media res anymore, it's just an outright jumbled mess of things. These guys might as well talk in the sims language for all the sense they are making. The worst thing is that Ubisoft again fucked up a whole lot of potential. How hard can it be to hire some half way decent authors for this stuff? So Obsidian Gryphon , from what I can tell, even if you'd have never played any AC game before, you probably would get just about as much out of this present day plot as anyone who knows all the lore backwards ... which is just about nothing.

Do mercenaries appear in conquest battlefields? I've had it happened once in the first PT. Then again in the present PT, both occurring on the Athenian side; I was fighting with Sparta. Both mercenaries are not the same and appear in different zones. I can't recall if there's a bounty but I'm pretty sure there wasn't one in the current PT. I noticed a couple of things; sharks appeared when a ship goes down. At night, when I ran into a clump of bushes, a flock of small birds burst out of it, warbling. Sorry birdies, didn't mean to disturb your sleep. And wolves can inexplicably appear inside tombs. One was inside, the other was locked outside.

Yes, I met a bunch of mercenaries on battlefields already as well. I do think I did have a bounty on my head when I started the battle but I am not sure if that matters. It would make sense if it doesn't after all, you are a mercenary, too, who is fighting for one side or the other, so why wouldn't the others just do the same?
Also found wolves in tombs. Guess they wanted to get some enemy types in there, other than snakes, so they decided to lock some wolves in.

If I hadn't experienced their incessant and very diverse use of the word previously I think it would have shocked me particularly playing as Kassandra.

I am a bit afraid of spoilers, especially for Odyssey but I also want to go all the way through Unity and Syndicate as well. Will keep it in the bookmarks for later though. But I think even if I missed some things and even if they were to fix the Odyssey present day story before the game ends, it just started so bad, it will be really hard to look at favorably as a whole in the end.
The main problem I am really having is that I can see how with fairly little changes, those AC stories could have been so much better than they were. It's a bit like in Mass Effect. I can see the greatness and the potential of the premise, so whenever they mess up somewhere, it really hurts.

I agree, the over arching modern day and fist civ stuff it what made the games interesting for me and yeah stuffing it up, finishing Juno's story in comics (which I have never read) is just damn frustrating.

Did you watch this video that SassaMFG posted above, its a bit long but I found it useful in terms of seeing the whole Isu thing in one hit from AC1 onwards: Thanks. That is useful. So basically, both groups are battling back and forth to get the pieces of Isu artifacts, their goals different and fluid with the passing of the ages. There're presently three artifacts. The Apple ; control minds The Shroud ; healing device (it heals and does not bring anyone back from the dead) The Staff ; longevity Right?

These random (terribly written and acted) NPCs working for Mary Sue Layla are all from the comics, from what I gleaned. Do they really believe their players read those things?

Well I have never read an AC comic, but I have no idea how well they sell. I think its a real middle finger to players of the game when they do that stuff and I find even the whole book thing to be a bit annoying as well but I believe they have a place. Like Cora''s Initiation book in MEA that was good additional content but not necessary to play the game.

Probably for fans who are really into AC. I'm not though. Of all the games I've played, the ones I've spent money on to buy novels and comics is DA, MET and Dishonored. Btw, any of you monitoring the GPU heat? I think AC Odyssey might be the 'hottest'.

Their modern day characters are all so cheesy that I’ve never had a desire. ME and DA had some good novels. Gaider in particular was really good. I’m on PS4 Pro. It has insane loading times even for simple things like initiating a conversation with an NPC quest giver. Menus are sluggish, etc... It’s a clunky mess, but runs cooler than Origins. Origins is silky smooth, but runs hot. Nothing compares to MEA, which threatens to melt hardware.

I think BioWare did fairly well with their books (apart from ME: Deception of course ). They are close enough to the games to be interesting for players to read but not needed to understand any of the games content, characters or lore. For example, the Grissom Academy mission in ME3 is particularly cool, if you know who Kahlee Sanders is but they explain enough so that the books are not really needed to get what's going on. Same for Saren and Revelation or the DA novels. Here though, it really seems Ubisoft assumes all players have read all their stuff and that's just not a good way to go for a franchise that started with (and still primarily is known for) its games. Hell, even if it did start as a comic series or whatever, I'd still expect the game's story and characters to be understandable on their own as it's a completely different medium. Still, great job on the past storyline again so far Ubisoft, gotta give you that much.

Sadly my new PC doesn't have a temp monitor but it certainly seems to be as the room heats up pretty fast when I m playing. Can you recommend any software that monitors it? <iframe width="23.96" height="3.52" id="MoatPxIOPT0_91761689" scrolling="no" style="border-style: none; left: 15px; top: -5px; width: 23.96px; height: 3.52px; position: absolute; z-index: -9999;"></iframe> <iframe width="23.96" height="3.52" id="MoatPxIOPT0_91124436" scrolling="no" style="border-style: none; left: 1138px; top: -5px; width: 23.96px; height: 3.52px; position: absolute; z-index: -9999;"></iframe> <iframe width="23.96" height="3.52" id="MoatPxIOPT0_40089006" scrolling="no" style="border-style: none; left: 15px; top: 116px; width: 23.96px; height: 3.52px; position: absolute; z-index: -9999;"></iframe> <iframe width="23.96" height="3.52" id="MoatPxIOPT0_27200571" scrolling="no" style="border-style: none; left: 1138px; top: 116px; width: 23.96px; height: 3.52px; position: absolute; z-index: -9999;"></iframe>
