Probably for fans who are really into AC. I'm not though. Of all the games I've played, the ones I've spent money on to buy novels and comics is DA, MET and Dishonored. Btw, any of you monitoring the GPU heat? I think AC Odyssey might be the 'hottest'. Sadly my new PC doesn't have a temp monitor but it certainly seems to be as the room heats up pretty fast when I m playing. Can you recommend any software that monitors it? I use a combo of MSI Afterburner, RTSS and HWinfo. It can be setup to show the statistics with several types of ingame overlay. Sounds complicated, but it's fairly easy to use. Also you can check the sites of your CPU/GPU manufacturer. They should have free monitoring tools as well. I use a 1080ti, downvolted to 0.900v, but still stable at that voltage to give me almost 1910 mhz. This voltage with a custom fan curve through MSI Afterburner is my sweet spot for any modern game. Odyssey gives me GPU temperatures around 70C, plus-minus 3C. My fan curve is set up to get the fan slightly audible after 70C which is why I like this setup. Quiet and eficient. I can get the GPU cooler at even lower voltage and/or more aggressive fan curve, but that will mean bit less FPS and more noise. I tested to get to 2000mhz and the gains were about 5-8 FPS with the GPU steady at 80-84C, throttling even. I guess it won't do without liquid cooling. On factory settings for the voltage and fan the GPU performance is terrible compared to the above one with the simple tweaks I use. The card gets to 84C in no time, uses about 1.2v, can't pass 1750mhz at all and sustains them for a very short time before throttling down to around 1600ish. So, if nothing else, a custom fan curve is a must for any GPU. The Nvidia factory setting for the fans is to never go above 50%, mostly to keep it quiet. You should tweak that to your preference instead. It's very easily done with MSI Afterburner. Not sure how it is for AMD cards. If you have a 10xx Nvidia card, you will benefit alot from undervolting too. Also done fairly easy with Afterburner. If you are worried about it, don't. It's actually completely save and beneficial for the GPU. It heats less and on top of that improves the performance. In my case it runs with 0.3v less power and gives me 300mhz more compared to the factory settings. It's like overclocking but easing up the GPU instead of stressing it. With my settings MEA is a little above Odyssey in GPU heat, but I get about 30 more average FPS in MEA. If I FPS lock MEA to around the average 68 FPS I get in Odyssey (on benchmarks. Ingame it's jumpy between 55-90), the temp of the GPU won't go above 65C ever. More like closer to 60C.

I always check the Store on Tuesdays, curious to see if they’ve created new stuff. (I don’t buy with real money, just admire.) They’ve releases an Underworld pack for the protagonist and the ship. Admittedly, it’s probably awesome looking in game. It’s so bizarre, though, same as it was in Origins. Stuff like this just breaks my immersion too much to ever use it.
I did notice that there is a sword that nicely boosts Assassination numbers in the Store. I’ll be watching the Oikos for that one.

I have downloaded Msi Afterburner and my GPU is an Msi Nvidia GTX1070Ti so will try and figure out what the fans are doing but setting a custom fan curve may be a bit beyond my skill set. As per an earlier suggestion you gave me I have locked the FPS to 60 on the actual card which with MEA in particular helped a lot with some screen tearing I was getting and I have not had that issue with ACO which I think the benchmarking test scored me 58.

I don't like to fiddle about; OC and such so I just use GPU-Z to monitor the generated heat during gaming. I recently upgraded a 1070 to a 1080ti. My tech friend asked if I were interested in the MTX which he had on hand that day he came down to check the rig but the price made me Additionally, with the HD and SSD acting up, I went for the 1080ti which was originally what I wanted when it first came out but there was no stock then. The price has dropped so I went for it. Just as well I didn't go for the MTX, cost me a pretty penny changing out the HD, SSD and graphic card. Now everything is SSD. I've enough of HDs.

Nice set-up, I wanted to get the 1080ti but it would have meant sticking with HD's instead of a 500GB SSD and a 1TB HD. The software that came with my card is just CPU-Z and doesn't have a temp option. I have set-up MSI Afterburner and can now see the temp on my keyboard display.

Whenever you guys start talking specs I get the itch (to get a gaming rig I shouldn’t buy!). Locking Odyssey at just 68 FPS? Sheeeeeit. I can only imagine what you guys are seeing. On console hardware and a nice TV I’m seeing realistic reflections (even in the sea) and pretty good particle effects. I bet this game looks great on the right PC with a gaming monitor. It was pretty sketchy on PS4 Pro at launch, but they patched it up right away. I do wish it weren’t capped at 1080p, but whatever. There’s a lot going on in this game and I’d prefer my console not melt.
Edit: Speaking of hardware and patches, I’ve been experiencing an annoying bug since the patch before last. Sometimes while I’m inside of forts, the game will slow to a crawl. Background audio is unaffected, but the frame rate drops to around one frame every 6 seconds. Enemies disappear from the waist upward. I can’t wait it out, since the slowdown runs I definitely. It forces me to exit and close the app. I’ve lost several m8 hates of playtime each time. It could be worse, but is pretty annoying. I’ve now started quick saving before infiltrations.

Running MEA it was very noticeable in terms of the detail etc and Odyssey just looks magnificent. I have had several little glitches the last few days. Wild Boar often the arrows just go straight through them with no damage or even registering a hit, I sometimes have to hit the various number keys to use a skill multiple times before it fires and the game is really inconsistent with moving Kass to the player when you use a skill such as Spartan Kick or Heroic strike. Sometimes she jumps to the enemy targeted and sometimes she just does the skill where she is and wastes it. Also on board ships when you are in combat Kass often does weird arse things like teleport for no reason. Re your other post Element Zero I agree this game is game of the year material, best non-shooter I have played I would say in terms of combat, story characters etc IMHO. I know nothing about Red Dead Redemption either the first or the 2nd so can't compare it to them.

I know nothing about Red Dead Redemption either the first or the 2nd so can't compare it to them. The animal hitbox is terrible in general. Seems to be too small. It's especially visible on the boars because they are big animals and you miss shots even when you clearly should hit something. I bought RDR2 for my nephew. The deal was this is his Christmas present, but I am sure I'll be blackmailed for another later. Anyway, I played it a bit and I can tell you one thing for sure - I suck using a controller. But my nephew also had issues, so it might be the game itself. It can be hilarious the first time when you try to greet someone and shoot him in the face instead. It's less funny when it keeps happening. It's also a bit of a shock coming from ACOd to RDR2. Everything is sooooo sloooooooow. The world, the details, the mechanics, animations and other things are incredibly detailed. But boy, does the gameplay suffer, at least for me. Granted, I played a couple of hours and watched a couple more, then checked Youtube to see if we were doing it wrong, but apparently it's how the game is. My initial experience was that the game reenacts the movie "A million ways to die in the West". Brush a tree with your horse - one of you dies. Walk a bit too close to a slippery slope - you lose balance and die. Touch a pedestrian while riding in town on your horse - get a bounty and trigger happy lawmen that consider your infraction as a shoot-to-kill offense. Walk in the forest without looking at your minimap for 2 seconds - get mauled by panther/bear/boar/etc. The game goes to great lengths to achieve "realism", but it feels more like a life simulator than a game to me. I believe that any Wild West fan and the people who want "realism immersion" will have RDR2 as a Holy Grail. I myself was happy to go back to pyromancer Alexios, jump down from 50 meters and leave a trail of smoke all over Greece. The pacing of both games is so vastly different.

Definitely. The hit box for animals in AC Odyssey is awful. They can be just a few paces in front of me, not moving, just doing their thing; snarling whatever. I have a direct shot and yet, it still misses. The graphics for RDR2 is definitely HD but after watching gameplay, this is not a game for me. Too much micro-managing / realism, especially the horse. Add 5+ hours of 'gameplay' to getting down, soothing, patting, feeding the horse, etc every several minutes of riding / after action before you even get to explore 3/10 of a zone. I'm not a fan of the Wild West nor do I feel the protag interesting; he just go along with whatever situation comes up. Of the gameplay I watched, which is perhaps half an hour in total from glimpses over a few days, I only caught one instance where the player get to decide to do something ; hunt a legendary bear or follow the NPC back to camp.

I'm replaying the games and I noticed something interesting on ACB. I play on PC and content that I think was exclusive to the black edition is now in the game.

The 2080 is just a 1080ti at extra cost and the 2080ti gives at best 25% more performance than the 1080ti at almost three times the price. I'll wait for the next GPU generation.

The only other game where she had the same "wow, looks amazing" reaction is Titanfall 2. In 1440p with graphics maxed out and at 60+ FPS Odyssey is glorious. There are flower fields that I stop to gaze at, water springs with vegetation where I have to look at the sunset between the tree leaves. And I never do those things in games. First time it happens.

I do these things a lot in Horizon: Zero Dawn. It’s the best looking console game ever made, in my opinion. My buddies can’t tell my in-game photos from high-quality promotional material. I love when a game totally immerses you in a world like this; and quality audio and visuals are a big part. Odyssey’s photo mode is sadly broken on PS4 (it’s not coding correct file sizes or somesuch). I took so e really nice pics during Alexios’ journey. One had him riding through the forest with a full moon shining through the trees directly in front of him, illuminating the crest of his helmet. It was a beautiful shot. Ubi got photo mode working for a few days, so at least I got to see it. Looking at Odyssey pics crashed my photo app, so I just purged all of them. It’s sad, considering it’s such a vast, good-looking game. I have no pics from my 140+ hours with Alexios, not any from Kassandra’s first 70 hours.

Glad its not just me with the animals!!!! Yeah this pretty much sums up my experience of watching my son play the first RDR. The overall atmosphere just doesn't appeal to me and if as you say its micro-managing etc. then its definitely not the game for me.

There are flower fields that I stop to gaze at, water springs with vegetation where I have to look at the sunset between the tree leaves. And I never do those things in games. First time it happens. I have been making myself do this more and more lately as I tend to get too caught up running here and there looking for trees and metal etc. It's fun just to put yourself in Kass/Alexios's position and just stand and look at the sea etc...

Or watch the sunrise with Ikaros
Or watch bears in the water
So I was just aimlessly wandering the map doing random shit and I was feeling overwhelmed again because I still had so much to do. So I decided I would go clockwise around the map from Kephallonia and do a section at a time and that's made it much more manageable for me. Still have a lot to do and somewhere I'm missing an underwater location...but I will find it! I'm at 97%, not sure what else is needed aside for the underwater locations and maybe a few forts/camps?
Still having much fun though

Kaidan Fan , there’s an underwater cave on the coast of Makedonia. I recall thinking, “This is the one people might miss”. I think it’s near the western edge of the eastern peninsula. It could be on the eastern edge of the central peninsula. (Or I could be dead wrong in my memories of it!) If I recall correctly, there’s a legendary chest inside that cave. Those are the best. They’re so few and always have something fun. Edit: To be clear, the cave is part of the land mass, but completely submerged for most of its southern extent. I wondered the entire time if it was an “underwater site”, until my “Child of Poseidon” trophy finally appeared.

Still having much fun though What's the cool armour Alexios is wearing? Man I murdered A LOT of moose and bears at that spot, pretty but I feel bad about all the slaughter. Kaidan Fan CMOE just messaged me and asked me re Odyssey, I think I convinced her to buy it. I also told her you had a new love interest now, "Älexios" and that Kaidan and Liam had dropped down the pecking order.

dazk, I want to take a stab at that armor before you get the official answer. I can only see the chest clearly enough to guess. It looks like a Heavy Spartan chestpiece. I’ve come to know the variety of designs much better in my second PT. Epics are where it’s at, so to speak! I want to give the Amazon armor a go, as I did with the Achilles armor. It just can’t compete with my Epic set, though. I wish screenshots worked on PS4. I’d love to share my current set. It looks like a better version of the Demigod set.

I have several legendary chests atm, currently wearing Perseus's chest piece but have Heavy Spartan legendary, plus Snake and one other that I can't remember. I like the snake stats, have the boots and skirt thing as well but Perseus looks cool. Nothing like rocking a dead sheep on your shoulder.

The Heroes of Greece set was the first I fully collected with Alexios. I wore the “Golden Fleece” for a long while. Eventually, I switched to the Achilles set I’d been coveting. It’s helmet is awesome. The gold trim is a bit overwrought, but it looks pretty cool. I completely missed how awesome the Epic gear is until my first PT was nearly complete. (I was still in Origins mode: deconstruct everything not gold!) With Epics, you get the full variety of designs and better stats. You can also find themes not present in the Legendary sets, like Warrior hood + robes, or Assassin armor (like my current set). Don’t overlook those purples! Edit: There’s a cool-looking, unique set in the UPlay Club or Store (I can't recall which). It’s the Aegean Pirate set. It has an interesting nautical theme and has a Hunter focus. Sadly, it’s only a Rare/Blue, meaning it’s almost useless mechanically. I notice that the DLC items are heavily slanted toward Warrior builds. They should craft some more Assassin and Hunter gear. They should also just put it into the game instead of peddling MTs! 😂

Love this guy's channel. I was glancing through YT just now and remembered he did a 300 review.

I also told her you had a new love interest now, "Älexios" and that Kaidan and Liam had dropped down the pecking order. Thanks! Element Zero is right, it's the heavy spartan breast plate with persian warrior gauntlets, silver belt, mercenary boots and shroud helm (but i have it set to be off). I been upgrading the legendary armors now since i have a ton of everything and using my really good engravings. Honestly though, I feel like if I could just find the epic stuff with more hunter/assassin stats I would rather wear it.
I hope cmoe does try ACOD, but no one will ever be over Kaidan
Element Zero I'll check to see if I've missed th at cave. I actually don't think I've even been to all the areas in Macedonia yet. Thanks!
