Hey, stupid question, that has been bothering me since I started playing the game: Is there still a possibility to push and jump off from walls? I can't seem to figure out how to do it anymore. It was a mainstay in the old AC game that you could jump away from a wall. Now, all I can do is press shift to climb or ctrl to climb down but I can't just let go anymore. That's is pretty annoying, especially in caves. But I feel like I am just too stupid to figure out the right button. Anyone got a solution for me? I am pretty certain its still on PC as I am sure I have done it climbing for minerals etc. On PC its hold SHIFT and hit the direction arrow to go whichever way you want to jump. Maybe SHIFT and SPACE to jump straight backwards. You'll know if its going to work if Kass/Alexios sort of lift themselves up when you hit SHIFT.

I know the push-off jump can be done, since I did it one time. I’m not sure, though, if it was contextual in that instance. I can’t get it to work at all any other time. Simply letting go while climbing is impossible. I know I sound like a broken record by now, but they never should’ve moved away from Unity’s parkour. It was motion-captured perfection. We had a jump button; full control over ascend/descend (which also eliminated accidental climbing); lifelike angular motion, initiating climbs on the run at an angle... it was freaking perfect. I feel like Alexios/Kassandra are even more “stuck in the mud” than Bayek. I know the mechanics are very close, but Odyssey feels more sluggish and prone to accidental hang-ups on terrain. I’m very hopeful that the next game introduces a more nimble, less earthbound protagonist who does not have a mysterious eagle. Unity-style parkour and eagle senses are an ideal for which I won’t hold my breath.

I missed the gryphon flag though.

I keep visiting the AC official forums and the Reddit page like a masochist. There are a great many unintelligent fans in those forums, especially on the official site. Many of them are painfully dull or obtuse. I’m so happy the BSN exists. I know this sounds like a crappy post, but I mean it in a positive way. Thank you BSN for being friendly, engaging, clever, witty, smarmy, passionate — all of those things.

Hey guys, odd question here. See, I'm trying to find a way to showcase some of my favorite games and game franchises to my parents (who aren't gamers), mainly so that they can have an idea of what the hell I'm talking about when I gush about elements from these games. Anyway, I want to showcase Assassin's Creed to them, but I'm not a hundred percent sure how to do that. I can't showcase every single game because that would be too long and the narrative tends to get a little confusing, and my parents are at least aware of Assassin's Creed due to the movie, which they liked.
For showcasing purposes, should I just stick with the Desmond games (1, 2, Brotherhood, Revelations, and 3) which is more or less the only solid overarching narrative with definitive beginning, middle, and end (as well as most balanced out present day/history balance in the narrative)? Or should I just skip ahead to a more personal favorite later in the franchise, which in this case would be Origins?

It'd be easy to describe the whole series of games in terms of the Templar v Assassin thing and tie that into the whole Isu modern day stuff but it's difficult to suggest any one, two or three games. However if I was going to do it I think the Altair and Ezio games are probably the best ones to use, you could also tie in the settings at least of the others and talk to how the games progress the various themes (if that's the right word) and then tie that into Origins and use that as an example of how the games themselves have evolved and where the story is currently at. A lot depends I suppose on how you plan to showcase the games and of course how long you want it to be. Hope that helps.

By showcasing, I basically mean finding the cutscenes or story related gameplay on Youtube and having my family watch them, like a movie or a TV series. This suggestion makes the most sense to me, and frankly, I think a person could stop paying attention to the overall narrative after 3. Thanks.

The best game I’ve ever seen for demonstrating the emotional and narrative power of video games is the last of us. Playing those first few minutes as a Sarah, and then Joel, and watching a child die in the pandemonium— it’s shocking to most non-gamers. They don't realize that our games are way more emotionally impactful than films. Having that controller in their hands during the opening fear and uncertainty of TLoU is pretty powerful. For AC, I’ve always explained it as a series of games in which each explores a meaningful conflict in history. They each give me a chance to explore that time period, it’s culture, architecture, etc... I’ve explained how much historical research goes into making the games. I only then mention that there is an over-arching story that connects each historical story to the others and to our time. Unless you find a truly engaged audience, AC is way too convoluted to explain in an interesting way. If I were to “showcase” the series, I’d start with a more technically impressive entry like Unity or Origins. Most parents could empathize with Bayek’s quest; and how impressive are the production values and details of Ubi’s Ptolemaic Egypt? DragonKingReborn, yeah, it was a reference to retroactive banning from the original BSN. It was vague enough a joke that tumble weeds blew through the thread.

DragonKingReborn , yeah, it was a reference to retroactive banning from the original BSN. It was vague enough a joke that tumble weeds blew through the thread. I mean, Last of Us is in the list of games I would like to showcase (maybe not play, but showcase). For Assassin's Creed, my parents are already kind of aware of the concept having seen and liked the movie when it came out. So if I were to show them any of the games, they would at the very least understand concepts like Assassin's, Abstergo, the Animus, Templars, and Bleeding Effects. The problem with a game like Origins, even though I think it's so freaking beautiful and based on Ancient Egypt (an era my parents would enjoy seeing as a setting), is that I feel the narrative works best when you're already well established in Assassin's lore and at least compared to the movie, it's so distant from it in terms of what's featured and who's involved. I think the Desmond games not only have the strongest narrative, but they also feel more closer to the movie and my parents would be able to buy into the world more easier. I can of course, just stop at 3 and explain to my parents that the games since then have been relatively loose with overall narrative, but each game has really unique settings and characters brought to life through intense historical research.

My armour keeps changing to wacky colours after visiting a blacksmith. It's kind of driving me nuts, because I have to keep re-grinding gear to find the pieces that go together.

It's your epic Fashion Odyssey 😀 I guess it's the upgrades that change the armor colours? I found a nice silver armor which looks great but is only blue quality. Keeping it for the transmog. Right now Alexios is wearing what I call the "ancient pimp" chest piece - steel armor with lots of shoulder fur. Too good stats to change it.

It originally started happening when I would upgrade armour. I could still get normal colours by purchasing new pieces or pulling old pieces from storage. But that doesn't work anymore. Now, as soon as I leave the inventory screen, everything spontaneously changes to a horrible white/gold colour scheme that looks awful. If I buy a new piece and it's black in the inventory screen, the split second I leave the screen it switches to white.

N7Pathfinder I think I would show them the original AC so they get the gist of what the game is about and what drew you to the series and then your fave to show how the game has progressed and what you like most about it now. Have fun showing it off to them! So, I thought I would finish Alexios up last weekend, but I had a nasty flare up of my RA so I wasn't able to play much. I am *still* putzing around on him. I think I have 3 more areas to do and then maybe I'll be done with my first play through. I haven't even done the show must go on or whatever it's called. In fact I only got to Elis for the first time last night. I'm pretty sure I still haven't found all the underwater stuff yet either. Is the quest for the epic boat or whatever at one of those boards? So, maybe I'll finish up this weekend. We'll see

I checked, and the ship doesn’t exist until you take the bounty on it. There will be a new one each week for the foreseeable future. I hope the level increase and cosmetic features come soon. I’ve run out of reasons to keep playing, and really feel the absence of NG+.

I still have a bit left so I'm still finding stuff to keep me busy for the time being.
I forgot to post some purdy pics last time, so have a couple now!
I feel like my pictures don't look as good as they do in game. Though I can also tell the graphics aren't as pretty in this game as they were for Origins. Though I suspect that could just be my video card starting to show it's age.

I don’t think this game looks as polished as Origins, either. The tech articles I’ve read say that it doesn’t reach as high of marks as Origins did on PS4 Pro. It actually looked really poor the first week; but they cleaned it up a lot via the first post-launch patch. I still find fire to be far less realistic than in Origins. There are a number of textures, too, that don’t come close to looking as realistic as their Origins equivalents. (When did all of the feluccas and rafts become plastic?) Still, it has its moments and your pics look great.
I look forward to the Fashion’s Creed armor transmogrification. (I have no idea what they’re actually calling this feature.) I’ll probably have Alexios running around in the Achilles helm and simple gear: iron breastplate, Aegean Pirate gear or the starter stuff. Kassandra will likely use the same simple stuff and spend more time dressed as Wonder Woman. 😆 I don’t know why that outfit is so cool; but it really does look unique and heroic. It’s good that we’ll be able to decouple stats from cosmetics. I’ve always hated that in pretty much every game ever made.

I finally finished all the quests and locations in ACOD! Just the events to do now. After a few days break I will probably start on my Kassandra play through. I will miss Alexios so much though. I'm going to consider him my "main" save. While I feel like Origins did a lot of things better and I loved Bayek, this was a great game too. But, honestly, there is no AC game that didn't have something I liked about it. Worst bandit camp ever, who they hiding from here? LOL

I'm in an odd place, lvl 42 and have just had what feels like an end of game, lets have happy wrap up cut scenes with all the Athens bros / happy family. I haven't dealt with the inner circle of Cultists and big chunks of the map are still untouched, also the modern day stuff and the keys to the super secret special place hasn't progress beyond knowing about it, so I know the game isn't over, but boy those cut scenes make it feel like it is.
Overall enjoying the game a lot with only a couple minor whines. Keystroke lag is a bitch sometimes, Kass/Alexio - Male pairing are pretty thin on the ground and mostly awful.

I am at a point L48 game progression 57% and I am so worried about getting the ending too soon. I have been progressing the family thing and just did the find your dad quest and now not sure whether to keep progressing that arc or to go back to clearing regions. I too am suffering key lag big time, it sometimes takes 2 or 3 times of hitting an ability key to make it fire which is very frustrating. Sorry to hear you are getting that as well but I am glad its not my keyboard. Yeah agreed the male relationships have been few and far between and I stuffed one up.

Yeah, I don't even know if there are any male choices for Kassandra that I'll try. I actually only liked 2 guys. One being Alkibiades (I KNOW, CRAZY, RIGHT?) and the other being Brasidas

I haven't had an opportunity with Brasidas yet.

For me the true ending is after you finish the modern day line (collect all keys). You, guys, NEED to do Crete (aka Pephka/Messara). It's a huge area with loads of quests and many laughs. Crete with other side stuff like Mykonos, etc. (where the main story never takes you) could easily have been a separate game and a good one too. Frankly, after playing Odyssey, I now plan to finally make the time and visit Crete at last.
