Differing opinions. I'm not surprised but everyone can agree that the game is beautiful and polished. Element Zero , the combat in Odyssey reminds me of Achilles's fight with Hector in the movie Troy; the rapid whirl of spear and sword. I'm not particular about the powers since whatever's featured in games are fictional and for entertainment. In any case, it's already established since AC1 that Isu artifacts and the race themselves have extraordinary capabilities so I don't find it far-fetched. Ok, I did get ACO and tried for half an hour. Impressions; * Bayek's movements are unlike Alexios's which is surprising as I was expecting something similar. Bayek moved smoothly and lightly; lithely is what I would say. I would define his animated package as 'neutral' whereas the devs (I noted both games are made by different divisions) for ACOD deliberately designed both protags' basic movement animation to be different from each other. * Using the shield is fine with me but I'm flipped out by the keys. The other keys for climbing etc are also different from ACOD so I might get flipped out by them. * Sand. Sand. Sand. It's Egypt I know. I went to Egypt before, to the perimeter of the desert. It's a bit hard on the eyes. I feel in need of shades. Oh man the key ballet necessary for combat on PC is what mainly drove my opinion down re Origins, that is exactly what I am not good at and even the two toolbars in Odyssey I find hard. Re the "shades" wait till you start hallucinating in the desert. I don't have a problem with the toolbars for ACOD but sometimes I would forget which one is active during a battle. So instead of setting weapons on fire, I ended doing a chaos. I'm still afire for ACOD so I'm having problems settling with ACO. I'm going to put that aside until I'm in the mood / ready for it. cloud9, the counter / attacks of the protag are very good for AC III but then they fit because of the era; the opponents (soldiers) don't carry shields and the average soldier mostly only know how to march, shoot and thrust the bayonet. Unable to fire, they're likely to use the rifle as a makeshift bat for melee and the dagger as the last resort.

I had a relapse day yesterday and continuously forgot which toolbar was active. My problem is hitting 3 for shiled breaker but which on the other toolbar is Cry of Ares or whatever its called or hitting 2 to do rush assassination and instead Spartan kicking no one.

Reddit's AC sub has some weird Catch-22 rules about spoilers, so apparently I'm not even allowed to ask what I'm trying to find out in there. This has to do with the ending and choices: I figured out after killing The Wolf that maybe I'd better understand the consequences. According to the "non-spoiler" advice I read, I'd be limited to only one ending, so I reloaded right away.
Unfortunately, there wasn't anything so obvious about Brasidas, so I had no idea that my choice regarding The Monger would be a similarly binary, limiting choice. I don't want to get into my feelings about illusionary choices that limit the story instead of driving it...
I mainly just want to know if I'm screwed. It was 30 hours ago in my playthrough that I chose to let the women kill The Monger. If I'm limited to the one ending, I'm likely to put the game away for a few months before I can bring myself to re-do the last thirty hours, but I don't want to go back if there is still a way to progress forward in spite of my one bad choice.

I did the same choice you did regarding the Monger and still got the best ending. The Monger choice changes other things and doesn't impact the ending. Your choice about the Wolf doesn't lead to only one ending. It just locks you out of a certain ending, but keeps open 3 more (by my count).

Just finished up the main questline. Overall I enjoyed the game, though towards the end def started having some open world fatigue. I think they've made some nice improvements on the usual formula, but they def could tighten up some systems a bit more. Tighten up the world/zones and quests a bit more, tone down the amount of filler on the map and develop the characters and choices even more then they did in this one and I think the next game could really be great.

Apparently the game couldn't handle the amount of death I was dealing and the game just crashed. It didn't crash the ps4 oddly enough.

I hope there will be a NG+ some day. They have a trailer, where they discuss all the additional content, they plan to release over the next couple of months (it's linked in the game's overview page on Uplay). In there, they confirm that NG+ is coming eventually.

Geez, it looks like it'll be next year before NG+ pops. Oh well. I think Kass is heading for 70 in this PT. She's 54 now and there're still zones not opened. I'm rather split for the mastery. The complaint with not knowing what to do with all that ability points suddenly become a wish there're more.

Yeah I reset my abilities and ditched some that I had only filled in as I had nothing else to do with the points. After reset I think I had 24 points and I just decided to choose a few to go with and allocate as many points as a I could to get a decent impact. I chose: "Damage dealt restored as Health" and got it to 5% "Devastating Shot" and allocated 5 points I think to 4.2% "Gohost Arrows" also allocated 5 points to get to 4.2% Oh man really, NG+next year!!!!! I am not sure I want to commit another 100 to 120hrs even on a more efficient PT let alone grinding out another 150+hrs.

I am not sure I want to commit another 100 to 120hrs even on a more efficient PT let alone grinding out another 150+hrs. I optimized my build around fire damage and swords with the passives and upgraded my gear. Level 62 with 130k+ damage on regular light attacks, malakas!!! I put just 2 % in the Damage to Heal passive. I do so much damage that I get tons of healing with it.
I feel you for the NG+. We need it now!!! I am already thinking how I will RP Kass in a new game. Thinking of avoiding all combat if possible. She will prefer to be silent and kill from very far away only when necessary. So mostly Hunter with Assassin stuff thrown in. If discovered, then Vanish and run through the window and over walls, rest for 1 day in order for things to calm and infiltrate again. Will use the crap out of Shadow of Nyx and steal everything without disturbing anyone. Non lethal takedowns will be preferred. I have a plan to avoid Mercenaries most of the times, but also had a fun idea to try and promote the Merc that hunts us on Kephalonia all the way to Rank 1. You know, like two kids form a backwater island making it out in the world Then I'll stab him for taking a contract on me. Btw, I met a Merc and my reaction was 'Gramps, is that you?". And yes, turns out they used the Leonidas model for a Merc and named him "False Leonidas". His backstory was funny, he claims to be the ressurected Leonidas. I promptly recruited him and now I got 3 generations (sorta) of the family on my ship.
I am doing a quick new run (sorta) on AC Origins right now. Element Zero will probably put a bounty on me for saying it, but coming from Odyssey, the combat in Origins is craaaaaap. So boring. I try to spice it up using different things compared to my previous run, like not being stealthy, using heavy weapons, poison and Light bows. The game looks gorgeous on my new hardware (haven't played it for more than 2 minutes on it before), the details seem slightly more polished than Odyssey, but the colours are not as vibrant. Sadly something is wrong with the Classic challenges since the ones I didn't finish before don't register as completed after I do them now. But that's minor. I mostly try to do a comparison with Odyssey (and do the DLCs), and so far I think that Origins had nailed down the polished graphic details and the feeling of Egypt teeming with life. But on the gameplay, quests and general fun factor, Odyssey is a winner in my books.

I'm mainly concentrating on hunter; long distance / headshots, swords, fire and overpower abilities. I found that when fire is active, I pretty much kill most things with one shot.

I need to spend more time analysing the mastery stuff, I was pushed for time when I did it and I need to revisit my whole set-up. I like poison and I have gear set up for that but think I may change back to flame as I am still not feeling god like enough. My only problem with flame mastery is accidentally setting myself on fire LOL. I have the bow of Hades, so that'll help but what gear are you running? I'd really like to use one of the full legendary sets but I hate losing those extra slots on epic gear. On an aside I talked about being one hit yesterday and the other day and I wonder if its the games reaction to you killing too many civilians. Previously games use to put a warning on screen after just killing one and after 2 or 3 it'd desynch you, so I am wondering if the game just grants any merc or animal that's around almighty offensive stats that wipes you out and thus desynch's the game now instead???? I am glad I am not alone re disliking Origins combat compared to Odyssey or any other AC game!!!!!! Sorry Element Zero I know you love Origins combat but as we have discussed many times I just could never really get comfortable with it.

I'd really like to use one of the full legendary sets but I hate losing those extra slots on epic gear. For a fire based set I used the Agamemnon gear and found it to be quite serviceable. The Demigod set is probably still the best overall Warrior Legendary set, but I do get a kick of the 100 % burning rate and the extra burn time the Agamemnon set provides. You can just shoot enemies from afar to set them on fire and watch, they'll burn for ages and will take massive damage. Also Hades bow/Prometheus Sika for weapons plus whatever third one I feel like, usually something for Warriors. I slot Fire damage/Sword Damage/Crit with Full HP/Crit damage with full HP. For passives I put points mainly toward Fire damage and Sword damage.
