I never quite understand the "this doesn't feel like Mass Effect to me" argument. Whether one like the game or not, it's kind of hard to take one's remarks seriously when Andromeda literally has all of the ingredients that make a Mass Effect game. It may not be your favorite, but to say it doesn't feel like "Mass Effect" is a bit perplexing. As far as the answer to the OP, there will be a sequel. BioWare will not make the same mistake of announcing a trilogy ahead of time. Instead, they are going to take it one game at a time and make sure they do a good job of maintaining continuity without any forced retcons. I will be surprised if Ryder does not return for one or two more games (perhaps even more than that). no, it really doesn't feel like a ME game few examples: boring, lifeless open world boring repetitive fetch quests no mass relays, no mass effects no space battles, no meaningful choices no attractive asari no badass turians no violent krogans almost no cutscnes of cinematics with actions , biotics or good combat the protagonists are kids bad facial animations no music or very few music or dull music enemy is not fierce or dangerous I d like to adress couple of these, even tough ive critiqued this game too, and it is no doubt a dissapointing ME game, but only to be fair: boring, lifeless open world - like most of the worlds in ME1, but they are better than that, if only by not that much. H-047c is better than most of the ME1s worlds. If you mean the Nexus, Kadara port and all that, its subjective. Nexus is a poor man Citadel for me tbh, it doesn have half of the charm or the atmosphere of the original in ME1. Might be the lack of new aliens and the music tbh. boring repetitive fetch quests - like all the 50 galaxy map fetch quests of ME3, or all the prothean data disks, matriarchs writings, turian colony crests and medallions of league of one in ME1, or N7s of ME2. Feels like a ME game to me on this part. no mass relays, no mass effects - this is another galaxy, no reapers. And you see the Mass Effect in action every time you change the star system. no space battles - did you miss the remnant fleet space battle near the end? the protagonists are kids - yes they are more inexperienced and young, it was a design choice, they didnt want to go for another Shepard. whether you like em or hate em is subjective again. enemy is not fierce or dangerous - Theres no way after the reapers were introduced they can up them with the kett or any other aliens they came up with, so its only natural they will not feel up to par with the reapers. Kett are an interstellar empire, like the protheans, the reapers destroyed the galaxys civs many times over and controlled their whole paths of evolution. This is the problem when you play your big cards first in the story, the rest doesnt add up as much, when its time comes. You also know what the major problem with the reapers were: they were simply too strong and too huge. You needed a deus ex machina plot device to beat them, the kett can be beaten conventionally, what many fans of the original trilogy wanted we would do to the reapers, even if according to the lore it would have broken it into pieces. We can do this with the kett. no meaningful choices - now this is kind of a funny one, considering back at the trilogy, its true we got huge choices there, who lived, who died etc. But. Then you had choices like the rachni queen, the councillor Anderson and the collector base which in the end really amounted to nothing, or a couple of hundred war asset points. It was an illusion of choice, nothing more. However even in the end of MEA, you do see your allies that youve made(like the other pathfinders) and how youve progressed depends whether captain Dunn dies or lives, for instance, or if you get help from the krogans or the salarians in the meridian vault, there are some consequences there. But i agree, its not the virmire choice, or curing the genophage, making peace with the geth or even the suicide mission. It is however better than ending missions of ME3.

It feels like the first one created the setting. We now have a power base in Helius Cluster, backed by the Remnant Technology. We have Roekar, Exiles and Kett to contend with. There are missing colonists from the MW Galaxy. We have the pathfinder office and job.
My preference would be a story told from the Exile camp PoV, but it might not be epic enough, and in all likelihood we will be moving out of Helius Cluster, perhaps forming an alliance with Non-Angara Andromedians since there is a call for more native Andromedian species.

I'm wanting a sequal and continuation of Ryder's story.
Skip so many years into the future where the colonies have shown some growth, bring In new issues for those colonies, let Ryder mature a bit more and see how different he/she is then compared to now, bring the kett becoming a serious threat and the cluster then pushes into the other clusters meeting new races and having the official war vs the kett start. You're still to weak/small to hit their homeworkd but you hit key areas and learn more about them as well as who jaardan were before. They can easily expand on more remnant vaults and the like as well.
Personally I liked the game, it felt much more of a Mass Effect to me than 2 and 3 being how it was closer to ME1 which I defined as my vision of what mass effect should've been throughout the series. There was no exploration to ME2-3 and instead it gave you linear corridor style gun play that was held up by story + characters alone. Ultimately I'm not expecting changes and quite honestly if bioware Montreal changes much I think it'd be detrimental as they'd be going through yet another phase of change. It'd be better they simply perfect what they wanted Andromeda to do rather than chance the next game being some random game that is completely different than Andromeda or even the OT 2-3 games.

I haven't gotten probably more than 5% of the way through ME:A yet, as I hadn't finished ME3 yet. Now that I have an jumped right into ME:A, I can say that the feel of the game IS different, there's no denying it... but that's not really a bad thing. For the past 10 years we've had the original trilogy of Mass Effect and its had the same characters, some new ones, and an over-arching story that has gripped us and drawn us in. ME:A is likely going to expand into other DLC and then more games. Mass Effect as an IP is too valuable and profitable for BioWare to abandon it. That being said, the ME1 in comparison to ME2 and ME3 is archaic, out-dated, "lifeless", etc... but the following games made us realize that its absolutely a part of the rest of them, and an important part at that. I say give ME:A its due, give it some time, and watch the progression of the franchise. BioWare (in my opinion) didn't let us down with ME1-3... I doubt they'll do it this time. Everyone's perspective and what they find "fun" is bound to be different... but give it some time.

It's worth noting that the Kett don't appear to be the current ultimate power in Andromeda despite their greater presence, and may even be inferior to the now absent Jaardan and whatever/whoever created the scourge. As for choices, I thought the new Council lead decision is fairly important, but what do I know...

I would like Mass Effect to strike a balance between exploring the frontier and exploring civilization. The latter was what I liked about the last two games in the trilogy.
To that end, a time jump of a decade or two would probably be a good bet for the setting. I definitely expect the next game to take place in Andromeda.
However, I would still like to see a pre-ME3 game in the Milky Way, preferably an espionage thriller.

More clusters in Andromeda would be my guess. Whether we continue with Ryder or not is up to Bioware, theres mixed opinions of him and his crew, some people like em, others really hate em. More from the Kett Empire would be nice...

Please read the codex about what mass effect is used in, because its everywhere in Andromeda's technology. There was a big space battle. Did you actually play the game? The choices in this game are nothing but meaningful but just like the original series they will play out in the sequels. The fun part of this game is it was both big and small decisions which could play out in fun ways. I liked that our characters started young, and inexperienced and had to earn respect rather than starting out as space Jesus. There will be 2-3 DLC with the last one being a set up for a sequel. The sequel will likely take place 5-10 years later (again benefit of starting with a young character). You will see how the colonies have evolved and developed, see how your crew and companions have changed. At which point you will likely go explore other parts of Andromeda. You have the threat of the Khett, The Benefactor, the knowledge of the Reapers hanging out without the public being aware, a real chance for major tension between humans and the other initative races. All of it has been laid out beautifully.

And you already have a ready built protagonist in Alec Ryder. There can be no sequels to ME3. I have 0 interestin more Shepard content, but I think Milky Way could provide some interesting content in the future. However, I would like them to wrap things up in Andromeda first because I really want to see how it all plays out. And the time jump thing is dead on.

Still, Alec and Anderson were in the First Contact War, I'd love to hang with that squad (Although Alec's physical appearance poses a challenge)

I don't know about the rest of you but I am done with the series. Bioware has mucked up their own canon so badly with this game that for me it is unfixable.
After ME3 and the worst ending in game history (please that is my opinion, nothing you can say will change it) I had hopes that Bioware recognized they really messed up. Then I saw that Mr Walters, the chief designer and defender of that ending was put in charge and I cringed.
Even then I thought well maybe the guy gets to much of the blame, maybe they will get this game right. They come up with starting fresh in a brand new galaxy, I thought cool they can leave all the crap behind.
Instead what we get is the EXACT same story, with LESS control over the story. Mr Walters is going to force his vision down our throats rather we liked it or not. Toss in the total disconnection I have with any of the squad mates, the LARGE number of quest bugs, audio and graphics glitches, multi-player problems.
Nope I will not spend a dime more on DLC or future ME games. I am done.

Now that would be interesting. And if you set it up to load Alec from Andromeda it would address the issue. Obviously in this scenario you would have an almost all alien squad at least initally.

Well at this moment i really wouldn't be surprised if the series got the Deus ex: MD treatment and ends up getting the franchise benched. Now i hope that doesn't happen but both MD and MEA's situation is comparable.

Now i hope that doesn't happen but both MD and MEA's situation is comparable. I don't think one flop will result in them halting mass effect. Especially given the impression that the game is so far a success commercially which is all that matters in the end regardless of its critical success impression. So I doubt EA will bench a franchise still making money, I'd be suprised if they were to do that considering they tend to run franchises into the ground rather than stopping their production and trying again years later on a franchise reboot. personally: I don't think there's reason to worry(in terms of it being shutdown), I honestly think this franchise being "doomed" is exaggerated.

no, it really doesn't feel like a ME game few examples: boring, lifeless open world So basically ME1boring repetitive fetch quests I generally ignore the tasks, but yeah it would be bad for completionistsno mass relays, no mass effects I think everything is powered by mass effect drives, but I'm not expert at the tech side of the loreno space battles, Meridian disagrees no meaningful choices Not really, if you choose not to save the Nakmor scouts then you encounter behemoths through out the rest of the campaign. Also certain characters can show up to help in the final mission only if you did there missions no attractive asari I think Lexi is hot as fuck, but to each their ownno badass turians Vetra disagrees no violent krogans New Tuchanka disagreesalmost no cutscnes of cinematics with actions , biotics or good combat the protagonists are kids Pretty sure that's the point, Liara and Tali were pretty young for their species too.bad facial animations No denying thatno music or very few music or dull music No denying that eitherenemy is not fierce or dangerous I thought the Kett were okay though I would have liked just a bit more variety

I am done. Great! Does that mean you will stop filling the threads with your bitching? Considering I have spent $60 bucks and over 50 hours in the game I think I have a right to speak my opinion. You of course have the right to ignore me, feel free to exercise that right

no, it really doesn't feel like a ME game few examples: boring, lifeless open world boring repetitive fetch quests no mass relays, no mass effects no space battles, no meaningful choices no attractive asari no badass turians no violent krogans almost no cutscnes of cinematics with actions , biotics or good combat the protagonists are kids bad facial animations no music or very few music or dull music enemy is not fierce or dangerous I d like to adress couple of these, even tough ive critiqued this game too, and it is no doubt a dissapointing ME game, but only to be fair: boring, lifeless open world - like most of the worlds in ME1, but they are better than that, if only by not that much. Really? is that your coparison? you already know that it's totally wrong 80% of ME1 is main missions with great side quests and 20 % are few fetch quests, so most of the game is good content 80% of MEA are boring exploration and boring fetch quests, and some main missions or loyalty missions the trilogy are games with great quality content and some few fetch quests MEA is a grouping of thousands of boring repetitive fetch quests an some story missions, it's entirely the opposite to ME

no, it really doesn't feel like a ME game few examples: (Snip) So to you ME1 wasn't an ME game based on this list? You have the threat of the Khett, The Benefactor, the knowledge of the Reapers hanging out without the public being aware, a real chance for major tension between humans and the other initative races. All of it has been laid out beautifully. Yeah, that's the typical problem with these lists. It's hard to come up with one which doesn't include other games in the series.

Great! Does that mean you will stop filling the threads with your bitching? The bitching will never stop So you're going to stay here and bitch about a game you don't like? What is that worth to you? I mean you could spend your time doing things you do actually like. Trying out new games for instance. Also trying to reach Bioware through a fan forum where only a handful of devs are registered doesn't seem to be the most effective way to have your voice heard. Would better to address them directly, no?

Ive recently played through ME1, all the missions 100%, and i can give you my look of them, thats totally honest, and not colored by nostalgia goggles. Main quests of ME1 are great. The sidemissions, the ones that Hackett gives you, or some people on the Citadel. Theyre a hit and miss, some are good or passable, others are not. Id say its 50/50, ther problem with them is that everyone of them takes you to a similar looking barren world in one of the 3 copypasted warehouse/mine/underground base locations or a starship. MEA at least has some more variable places. Also those "Loyalty missions" in ME1 are crap. They are just crap. Talis is the worst one, hunt geth on 5 different planets, it gets tedious so fast. Batarian DLC is decent, the Pinnacle station is pure shit. When you add the mineral collecting and all the other fetch quests, id say over half of the total of side quests in ME1 are not good or enjoyable. It certainly doesnt help that the game has this awful, clunky inventory and combat system, which has aged badly. Aside from the cerberus quests and the lunar base AI, for continuity, ill skip most of the sidequests whenever i do a ME1 run. Theyre just not that fun anymore.

1. Did you play Mass Effect 1? 2. Every Mass Effect had "boring repetitive fetch quests." 3. You do realize that "Mass Effect" explains how most of the science works in the franchise? Relays are mentioned in the game. 3. Did you miss the final assault between the Kett forces and the Tempest and Remnant fleet? 4. Define "meaningful choices." We have a lot of choices that can have several consequences. DLC and the sequel may make those consequences more apparent. 5. Beauty is subjective. 6. Vetra is rather badass. Avitus Rix is not too bad either. 7. Does Drack and Morda ring a bell? 8. There are cutscenes everywhere... 9. Being a "kid" is a bad thing? They are in their early 20s. 10. Okay? Mass Effect has never had great facial animations. 11. There's plenty of music. It's just not as memorable (or used as much) as the OT soundtrack. 12. Did you play Insanity in ME1-3? MEA is by far the most challenging as those games were cakewalks. Be honest with me. Are you trolling at this point? Half your answers sound like a troll. The OP's right, if anything you are a troll. You have other AAA animators pointing out the failures of ME:A facial animation systems(and other systems outside of animation), not to mention, there isn't a single positive critic review that doesn't list them as a negative. And while Beauty might be subjective, 100+ Asari females with Lexi's face, is not. The animation issues are definitely a problem, but this list doesn't mention the animation or the sameness of the faces. I had a whole stack of issues with the game - loading bugs, slow planet travel, lengthy unskippable scenes in the opening 20 minutes (for the record I didn't hate it, but I also didn't love it). If they were talking about that, fair enough, but the OPs list isn't about those problems. Whether any person thought Drack or Vetra was a good enough Krogan or Turian character, and whether the 100 identical Asari were attractive is hardly some objective standard. Fair enough if they hated all of that, but that also means that it's fair for someone to love those characters or to think those identical Asari were attractive, or to be neutral on all of it.

Hi there space peolpe i just completed MEa and wnder what is next? what do you think we will have? after story and mp dlc's? an entirely new game, like set in another galaxy or cluster or a sequel? or not sequel, but an independent adventure? this game did not satisfy me, i had low expectations, but still, this game does not feel "ME" enough the Kett are still out there, we must stop them somehow, right? what do you want? This game DLC that I really want to see: QUARIANS!!!! Would be great if they are linked to the kett and that is the warning they sent and would be great if we get involved and as a result we learn more about the kett. This is a must for sure. Ideally would be nice if we get to do some kind of infiltration mission with salarians! With Reake (or the salarian captain in Reake's stead) because we have YET to have a salarian (STG, military, combat type) as a crew member in 10 damn years! Mordin doesn't count. He was science guy. I want to infiltrate some aspect of the kett and learn more about their senate, their agenda, them as a people. Sure, more questions to follow but a whole lot of answers about them as well. Should be a few solid hours too. Also, need quarians on the team as well. Maybe even a drell! Then maybe next game we have the option to have that salarian, that drell and that quarian in our crew. Definitely want a DLC that is specific to the Scourge. I don't care if it is a precursor to the next game as long as we get some basic questions answered about it and maybe if we get some temporary way to deal with it, like some kind of shielding that provides some aspect of protection for an extended period of time, perhaps it uses the energy of the scourge to recharge. POST GAME DLC!!! Some kind of mission on Meridian. For hell's sake, we HAVE to be able to travel part it. Maybe not a Massive map, but perhaps the area where we and the hyperion landed, that whole journey to the vault and area around it. Maybe setting up things for a new settlement and have a mission of some kind. Perhaps go into that vault for some kind of data retrieval mission to see what more we can learn about the Jaadan, the Angara, and Meridian in general. This is a must IMO. Also, during the 600 year journey quarians should be able to get the hell out of their suits. Even if for only limited periods. Their immune systems should have adapted with some help from a special team working on it. Those are my three DLC wishlist items.
