Zelda sold something like under 2 million units in all of march if we extrapolate Switch sales. EA wanted MEA to sell at least 3 million units by the end of Mar 31. You can guess yourself why this is a thread worthy topic. Ah ok, so you get to insert figures that aren't in these numbers to magically assign a number of units sold to Zelda, so you can assign an even more imaginary number of units sold to ME:A. Right. Great. >imaginary Stop being so anally fissured. Switch sold around 2 million units worldwide for March. One can with little effort and no autism conclude that Zelda sold near to under that with the US market having the lionshare of units sold. Now compare it to MEA on the NDP as the gracious OP has shown. EA wanted MEA to sell 3 million units by Mar 31. We can safely say that mass Effect is dead.

I'd like to point out that Ghost Recon Wildlands got shitty reviews across the board and is still topping the charts, so if this means anything at all it's that most people don't give a flying fuck about reviews. It's metacritic score is actually lower that Mass Effect so really, what is the point of this thread? Zelda, a fucking system seller, sells less than that shitty game. What's the point, honestly? Zelda sold something like under 2 million units in all of march if we extrapolate Switch sales. EA wanted MEA to sell at least 3 million units by the end of Mar 31. You can guess yourself why this is a thread worthy topic. 1: Zelda is available on WIIu as well and selling well. From what I gather Zelda fans are byuing BotW for switch awaiting their new console. It's like their version of pre-order. 2: HZD has sold 3 million world-wide and MEA is outselling them. I'm sure you can spin that into negativity though.

Now Dutch, show everybody you're a sane person: what does this mean for the sales figures of ME:A compared to, lets say, Ghost Recon Wildlands. Which is, for the record, sold on Steam so the US digital sales for that game on PC are included.

Well we all knew that Dutch is just a troll but but since he is usually giggly over NPD charts I must say that I'm surprised he hasn't managed to memorise the march 2017 list yet.
And so far on your precious NPD ** No Origin, Battle.net, uPlay, or non-Steam sales.
Now Dutch be a good boy and go to the first post in thread.

By the end of March, BOTW sold about 925,000 copies on the Switch, while only about 906,000 Switch consoles were sold. BOTW on the Wii U in March sold about 460,000 copies, boosting the overall units sold to an approximate total of 1.3 million units. It's unlikely these numbers also include Nintendo eShop purchases of the game. That would mean that in terms of physical sales, Mass Effect Andromeda would have to have sold less than 1.3 million units in its first week. Even if we were to include Origin sales, which I think some are over-exaggerating due to the PC audience still being dwarfed by console gamers, BOTW likely still comes out on top. That means that one game that was available on a dead console barely anyone ever bought and a brand new console barely anyone has outsold a game that's available on three platforms that are easily available. Yes, MEA came out at the end of the month. Again, the first week of any major property tends to be its biggest generator of sales. I would not be surprised if Nintendo made most of its sales on Zelda the moment it launched on the Switch and it sharply dropped off after that point. Considering there are no Switch consoles available, only so many folks would likely buy the game currently. This isn't to suggest that MEA flopped, but I'll be surprised if it's a success either. I'm under the impression it's likely under-performing similar to how Dead Space 3 was received. EA shelved that franchise, but I doubt that will happen to Mass Effect given the RPG player base is much larger than the survival horror player base. Not to mention, BioWare has a lot more leeway with EA than Visceral or DICE do. www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2017/04/14/nintendo-sold-more-zeldas-on-switch-than-switch-consoles-in-march.aspx

I don't think the game has been as successful as EA/Bioware expected, mostly because I haven't seen any press about it. In the past they haven't hesitated to say a game had the best opening for a DA or an ME, or say how many copies a game shipped through.
I haven't heard a peep about ME:A, and I can guarantee if it had beaten ME:3's launch we would have heard how it was the best launch for an ME game, Bioware game ever. They expected to sell three million in the first few days, so I'm guessing that did not happen.

Again, I hardly believe this will be the end of the franchise. That being said, it's obvious the game is a financial disappointment at this point and BioWare is doing as much damage control as it can. BioWare will use the patches as well as DLC to try and correct the course of the ship. However, you only have one time to ship. BioWare blew it, so we'll see where that puts BioWare going forward. Its new IP will release next year, and a new Star Wars game is rumored to be in the works in Austin. Edmonton will probably move to Dragon Age 4 after the new IP is released, so a lot of things are in motion at all of BioWare's studios.

I'm guessing your 1.3 millions are related to what you quoted about Zelda:BotW? That is figures for NA only though. EAs goal for MEA is all about worldwide. Yeah, but EA has released digital sales stats of Andromeda. Aren't more folks buying digital these days? No they did not. STEAM is releasing digital figures to NPD (no doubt for sa price) but EA is not. No Origin included in NPDs charts. Last I checked MEA isn't available on STEAM.

Origin also didn't release DAI sales figures either. And when looking online for Andromeda sales figures, I only see mention of physical releases. Nothing from PSN/Microsoft either. I also did a poll on this and at 62 votes digital versions of Andromeda bought by forum members is winning at 74%. Then there's this article which also says 74% of video games bought these games are digital. So it wouldn't be too far fetched to assume the total sales numbers of Andromeda formula is physical copies sold x 74%. Meaning Andromeda is not the failure everyone is assuming. And still not accounting how much money it made for EA with early access too (of which don't forget many also sign up for early access and forget they keep getting billed for it).
