Did EA mention anything about Andromeda's sales?
That's the weirdest thing for me, it'ss common for publishers to announce very soon after release info about the sales. Even if they are often vague, like DAI's "most successful Bioware release".

Even if they are often vague, like DAI's "most successful Bioware release". EA has in investor meeting on May 9th to discuss Q4 and 16 fiscal year sales so any announcements are most likely reserved for then. As for DA:I, EA didn't announce best launch ever until it was already out for two months so the timing is right.

Because aside of overall financial results, they don't have to. You're right. They don't have to, but when they said that DAI was the most successful launched Bioware game, I would post the numbers to back up what I said.

Even if they are often vague, like DAI's "most successful Bioware release". I remember when ME:3 came out, even with the ending controversy they were talking about the sales numbers. gamerant.com/mass-effect-3-sales-ea-benk-137689/www.engadget.com/2012/03/09/mass-effect-ships-3-5-million-worldwide-890-000-sold-in-na-swt/They've always done this in the past, but not so far for ME:A. Add to that the fact that the game was on sale after like two or three days, and it's pretty obvious the game isn't selling the way they wanted it to. Now I doubt that the game will be a financial failure by any means, but I think it's pretty safe to say that they didn't get the three million in sales in the first week that they anticipated. Even though Dragon Age 2 sales fell off, they were talking about the initial numbers after launch. www.ign.com/articles/2011/04/05/dragon-age-ii-sales-top-1-million

Where was the game on sale 2-3 days after launch? Sorry, not buying it. All digital copies are still full price over a month after launch and, so far, the only discounts are on physical copies...for a week. Maybe it's a disappointment, who knows? But they're not acting desperate to move copies

First article was misleading...if was selling for $52 it was off the regular, not deluxe, so not 25% off and on physical copies. Also, in regards to 2nd article, the 33% off is on physical copies after over a month...and only for a week..pretty standard. Again, it could be tanking but, so far, the sales and discounts are pretty normal in the release cycle

Again, it could be tanking but, so far, the sales and discounts are pretty normal in the release cycle I didn't even say the game was tanking, I just said everything I've seen or haven't seen just leads me to believe it didn't hit their expectations. EA said they thought it would sell three million in the first few days. That would be pre-orders and initial sales. If it didn't hit their budget it would make sense to put the game on sale soon after launch to get as many sales as possible before the fiscal year ended 3/31/2017. I've said before that three million in a few days was lofty expectations for this game even if it didn't stumble out of the gate with the technical issues.

I remember thinking that it was very weird, but in retrospect, maybe not so much.
Which we all know was an Origin error. Conveniently left out by you of course. Colour me surprised.

I believe there was a post on the Origin pre-launch discount at some point but it's somewhere in the board history. I remember reading here that it appeared, some people got it, and it was gone. Don't know if it was ever officially addressed but it was considered an error

Because aside of overall financial results, they don't have to. I know they don't have to, but they're an anomaly. Most companies just put that info out there. Meh, not really. They'll put it out there when it is something they think is good enough to brag about. Blizzard used to tout WoW as having 12 MILLION!! subscribers all they time when they were at their peak. They don't release subscription numbers at all anymore. Same with EA or any other company. You can bet if MEA had sold 6 million copies week one they would have boasted about it. I'm not trying to imply this is either good or bad, just the way it is.

We will likely find out soon, Q4 results will be made public by EA sometime in May, I believe.
third overall...could be better. Although Ghost Recon in the top spot is a head scratcher...
Then again, open-world is a big seller and it was the first major open-world game of the year.

I tried to find any mention of how NPD gathers their numbers and there is very little out there. Most of the articles are from last year when they first started reporting online sales. At that time EA wasn't reporting Origin sales, along with Battlenet, Uplay and the others mentioned. I haven't found anything more recent to dispute that either. I guess I wonder why you think that old article isn't correct even though we don't have anything pointing to the contrary either. /shrug Unless someone has more current info on what data they do and don't collect I see no reason to assume it has changed any. I'm not stating your article is necessarily wrong. I'm just saying it's old and it's possible the NPD is collecting more numbers than it did previously. I also saw that title in your article that was implying EA, Activision, and others were planning on providing the NPD with their online sales numbers. We just don't have enough information to discern one way or the other in my opinion. If the Origin sales still aren't factored in, however, that certainly would explain MEA's position, especially since Aaryn Flynn and Mac Walters have claimed it has sold "millions," which is a rather vague descriptor itself. Here ya go. Contacted them directly. NPD does not track Origin sales.

Here's a very good video about the hidden numbers of digital gaming and how they make up a huge portion of the industry, even more than physical sales now.
