It's funny how despite all these years of "yikes {{ game }} is doing poorly, Bioware is dying" types of posts, they somehow still manage to ship huge AAA games every few years. Ever since they got bought by EA we've had these threads.
It must be maddening how they killed Pandemic and Bullfrog and Maxis but they won't prove you right by killing Bioware, like you keep hoping they would.

Once I removed old Bioware from the equation, a new starting point had to be made. What was Bioware 2.0 going to learn from Bioware 1.0 without the benefit of building their own engine, not having the original visionaries around to be the wise counsel or much encouragement from fans like me who can't articulate WTF into a coherent sentence. I do know one thing: Bioware is still better at story-telling (even at its worse) because a lot of it lows are still better than some of their contemporary highs. Inquisition suffered from game flow. Frostbite got in the way of the story-building from my perspective. I've used DICEware derogatorily because Bioware still hasn't made it to work like an RPG engine as Bioware 1.0 did with their own engines. I will still take Origins over Inquisition any day, but Andromeda (Sorry, writers, the MET still pwns you.) makes me see the potential, just like Inquisition did for me at Skyhold. I really liked Blackwell, Solas, Iron Bull, Cassandra and underpraised Varrick. (Varrick and Garrus are the best companions ever written for this medium.)

(Varrick and Garrus are the best companions ever written for this medium.) Can't be said enough times. And while I'm here, being Captain Obvious, I just want to say, "We wouldn't have Varrick unless we had Dragon Age 2." Yes, it should've been a super DLC at full price which would've made a hell of a lot more sense to me, but you know, I'm also Captain Foresight as well. Anyway, Varrick didn't make me miss the "essential" buddies in Alistair, Morrigan, Leliana, Sten, Zevran, Oghren, Wynne, Shale, (or a certain villian who 90% of my playthroughs bought it with my own sword) my Mabari hound and instead gave us Anders (once again from Awakenings, for better or worse), Merrill, Isabela (from Origins, I approve of the upgrade), Aveline, Fenris and gifting us with a Zevran cameo. Not shabby for 18 months. The whole Flemeth-turned-GILF-thing, I kind of liked it in a way because it was a complete 180 on how I pictured a real-life Flemeth from Origins. But I said, "Okay. I can roll with this..."

Also, you mentioned the Isabela upgrade, but remember Merril is from DAO as well, so that is three carry overs.

It's hard to remember those moments that cement the symbiosis in Andromeda. It took me a long time. Unlike Origins (yes, Merrill and the damn mirror) you had direct intervention. Every origin story neatly led up to that climactic moment when you meet King Cailan with Duncan. Hawke and I became one on Act 2, which was a bit of ways off if you did all the act-related quests. Then you see Kirkwall bending to your will and ready to fracture. All the while, your companions are keeping up with the narrative and pushing the game along at your pace. The damn war-table needs a workaround for single-player campaign because nothing screws with gameflow than a clock. I've got to do stuff in real time. I want to have fun in game time. Capiche?

Yes, in single player it should not take days to complete a war table operation 10 minutes at the most. Why even have a clock? You still have to travel to the objective site and if not, just send me a progress report whenever with a reward... and a real reward. Don't be me mailing me no common weapons and armor. This is the Inquisition, yo. Swag. Give me something like here is 100 of the finest shields (+3 armor to foot soldiers) or something where this stat would actually matter again. No bashing Merrill. Yo, I replayed every playthrough that she didn't end in conflict with her old clan. She mattered that much to me. (When I first played it... ALT+TAB, Google "Merril and clan both alive" and... ALT+TAB, Reload, Replayed... Anything else was unacceptable.)

MEA is already 30% off at retail in my country. I have never ever seen this happen so soon before. It seems all the negative press has had a strong effect on physical sales of the game and retailers float a lot of copies at the moment. What's the use of negative press otherwise?

It seems all the negative press has had a strong effect on physical sales of the game and retailers float a lot of copies at the moment. Bioware, I believe you when you play Rag-n-BoneMan now. The irony wasn't lost on me. It was when I was rage quitting on the PS4. Then seeing no help from the PSN. Then going blind at the EA Tech site. Then looking for fixes on YouTube and then YouTube got a second wind thanks to Andromeda. So, yeah, the geniuses at EA who said, "F*** it, it's commodity. It's all about the money, yo. Don't worry. Those nerds will buy anything." At least, that's my outside, speculative perspective. Don't f*** with the art. I don't care if it's Bob Ross or Michaelangelo painting. I don't care if it's Stephen King or William Shakespeare. I don't care if it's John Williams or Mozart. I don't care if it's George Clooney or Charlton Heston. Just stay true to the original vision and allow time for it to happen. Bet low, win low. Bet low, set the bar low, stay low, and eventually bankrupt. Bet high, wait it out, test it out, give more control back to the end user, and you have done what the Reapers couldn't do... INDOCTRINATE an entire audience the size of Star Trek, Star Wars and the alike. Maybe I'm wrong.
