You say that as if EA has got all the time in the world to delay & polish their games further. Because last I checked, ME3 had the shortest dev time in the series, and it was even shorter on the onset. And? As if movies and tv shows had no deadlines, and they manage too, other games as well. Besides, while I do not agree with some things in ME3, it was the ending that crushed it. 10 minutes ruined 3 games. Please do not tell me they would have needed 1 or 2 years to pull off another ending! Do you know this MEHEM? I did not until it was mentioned in this thread, watched it, amazing what few modders accomplished. WIth recut and rearragned ingame cutscenes and audio. It would not take BioWare longer to do the ending like this, then creating this starchild and then the extended cut to improve it a little bit. The leadwriter screwed up, but Hudson?? He was there from the very beginning, he pretty damn know what he was doing, or should have, that ending, seriously? After ME ME and all the DLCs and even ME3? And he even have the gall to call this garbage "art"... my ass, art... there are people pressing dye up their asses and farting it out towards a white wall and call this shit art, yah, that is pretty much the same. I wonder if he know what "bittersweet" actualy mean. Do you? If you want a to learn something about it, I suggest reading "Legend" by David Gemmel. Spoiler about the ending of the book By the end of the book, one of the two main protagonists is dead, as well as many many minor characters. Also a ton of soldies defending the fortress. In the end a victory, with a lot of loses. THAT is bittersweet. But what did we got? Control: defeat (yah we control the evil, that is realy a win, not) Synthesis: defeat (yah this merge of organic and synthetic life, sure, we cease to exist as we are, so basicaly, the reapers win) Destruction: defeat (yah it kills the geth and edi in the process and who knows who else, this does not sound like a victory to me) and on top of that like 80% of the galaxy population dead by reapers, many characters dead, inclusive Shepard (yah sure with best scenario possible we see the chest graspin for air once, now that is very reassuring), and everything destroyed, inclusive the me relay network this is no victory, there is nothing sweet in all three endings, it is just bitter and not worth all what was there before (ME/ME2) Please, do yourself a favor and stop defending Hudson. This whiteknighting for him isnt helping anyone. And this has nothing to do with opinion. If someone tells you 1+2=7 then it is wrong in our universe and not a subject of opinion. He screwed, by any standard and definition, and while you may disagree, it changes nothing. If something is black, it does not turn out to be red just because you say so. It is still black. And if you do not believe me, go check on the responsibilities of a director and the definition of bittersweet. Oh and one sidenote, with all we went through in ME and ME2, an ending like ME3 is like being f... in the ass and then it is called art. I do not play games to "not win". There is already enough loosing and misery in RL. control and destroy is not the issue. It's execution. I had not issue with the control and destroy ends as it was with in the confines of the tech and story. Added the reapers are not evil calling them that misses the point of the over all story. It how they were presented that was the issue. Only synthesis was bad because it made no sense on how it was done.

All subjective and my opinion but ME3 was utter crap. It was a streamlined gears of war clone playing off most of the great plots and characters of the first two games. As a stand alone game without including the ending, it was terrible. The reviews for Andromeda are certainly more polarizing but I would say MEA is much better game than ME3 overall. I'm personally no fan of ME3 either to the point that I don't even consider it cannon. I just let my imagination fill in the blanks to what ME3 could have been like and consider the ME3 we got good enough fan sci-fiction. But MEA is certainly much worse, not even science fiction, and that's my opinion. That's fair. I need to read through more posts, but what's some of the small changes you would make to consider it more science fiction? And differing opinions are more fun to chat about so bring on the subjective thoughts!

So yeah, sorry I can't add more to this. Right now I'm looking forward to finding another sci-fi game or series to spark my imagination again, hopefully CD Projekt Red can deliver with Cyberpunk 2077. Only I just recently found out it's director quit or something too. Man, ever since The Force Awakens it seems to be bad times for sc-fi fans... maybe they'll hire Casey Hudson as replacement.

I miss Casey too, but he left when the trilogy wrapped up and the original Bioware doctors/creators left also. That exit point made sense. He went on to Microsoft and has been working on their Hololens tech.

The entire space station is open to explore and it has a bioshock feel to it. Amy Henning formerly the main writer on the uncharted games at Naughty Dog is working on the new Star Wars game with I believe Visceral games? That could be good. And CD project red will deliver on cyberpunk 2077

The ending was poorly executed and his comments afterwards were just... pathetic. Also, at PAX South Microsoft didn't mention Hololens tech, but they did showcase a trailer for State of Decay 2. I missed their earlier presentation, but nobody was talking about Hololens.

So I can't blame the guy for leaving since the final product does not give me any sci-fi tickles. Guess Casey Hudson offered more to the Mass Effect series then any of us thought. He will be missed. Best wishes to Casey Hudson. I does give me sci fi tickles, so I do not miss Casey Hudson. Frankly, SuperMac needs to get the boot as well, as far as I'm concerned.

Amy Henning formerly the main writer on the uncharted games at Naughty Dog is working on the new Star Wars game with I believe Visceral games? That could be good. And CD project red will deliver on cyberpunk 2077 Let's hope. We know it won't be bad. Will it blow out the hype like say Zelda BOTW or surprise people Horizon Zero Dawn or even Nier Automata, that'll be a pleasant surprise but it's difficult for games to hit that tier. That's my thought process with MEA as well. I was done with Mass Effect after 3. Hears about Andromeda and thought meh at first. Then saw the controversial game footage in nov/dec 2016 and thought holy shit, exploration style mass effect almost like Witcher 3 in space! Do I think the game failed to hit some of the right notes? Sure. Do I find some of the mechanics lazy, unimmersive, and poor? Sure. Do I miss the characters and story of ME1 and ME2. yup. But I still love MEA for what it is and I had a blast playing it. I fully disagree agree with OP, respectfully. I want to give him a hard time, but ultimately that is his opinion. I think, IMO, MEA is the most immersive sci fi cinematic experience in gaming. With the tempest, the space flight, the Nomad, the colorful crew, the planet element, the awe inspiring alien vaults, the creepy Kett ships, the crazy sci fi combat. My biggest complaint is they don't use zero gravity a ton like dead space did to really give off the space feel, but it's all explained anyways

I've chosen to stick it out in the past and provide my own internal consultation with a previous publically traded company and boy that was a mistake. Yeah, you search for the new opportunity and get out fast before it turns sour. It sucks and I agree that this probably happened with the original Bioware staff. I also know that newer employees can be just as qualified to do the same job albeit after some hiccups. I still have faith in Bioware going forward

Hmmm.....I think Andromeda has great art direction and design when it comes to their planets and the vaults...there is something eerily alien about all of it and the visuals are quite stunning....for me the game kinda falls apart in it's story....i'm currently on Aya and apparently i did something that gave me complete access to all areas, but that opened up a TON of side missions and currently all of my loyal missions are on hold waiting for specific triggers within the game....and this is where i feel is Andromeda's problem. The story needs to be more streamlined. I'm talking to people because i don't want to miss anything, but then i'm being bombarded or side-tracked with other side stories..... ....my thing is, i appreciate Bioware wanting to give you more, but this game would have benefited greatly if they cut down on the waste and created a more focused, streamlined interesting story....it's not good when you are just going through the motions of trying to finish these side missions without really knowing if they will impact the story or decisions made later on... Again i really had no issues with ME3's ending....potential was lost since they was leaning towards creationism and huge plotlines that would have been incredible, but i think the story itself might have gotten away from them or maybe that plotline was just too big for them, because that ending felt a wee bit like they had to wrap this up quick!....the Extended Cut made things better, but still, when they was teasing on some level that the Reapers might be the creators of everything, i was really excited to see where they was going to go with that plotpiece.

I mean, if you had a job and it started turning bad, wouldn't you quit? Quitting because you can't handle criticism is a deep character flaw and he probably knew EA would devour him eventually. I also don't think he just quit, to relieve himself of the bad media. He's a charismatic guy with a lot of creative vision. He probably already had an offer from Microsoft already waiting for him. If I was a rival tech company, I would be filling my ranks with the brand-name individuals like Hudson to lead. And Terminator... I miss them. They were the nicest, most approachable people that were in the most introverted community that they lived in. Dude, I saw a Bioware badge and beers were on me. Just to sit down and listen to them talk shop was really cool. Same cool as getting a hug from New York Yankees slugger Reggie Jackson because I was one of those dumb six year-olds that didn't have something to autograph. I still remember the smell of the Jerri-curl spray on his neck. 1978. Fast forward to 6th street in Austin, and I'm at the same table as six developers who worked on KoTOR MMO RPG. 2014. I can't say much about the new Bioware. How can I? The official forums, closed. I'm not on Twitter or Facebook, so that avenue is closed. However, I am still surrounded by Bioware fans here. Whether they're disappointed with the new direction or praising it... Bioware still has two of my four beloved franchises. I've already given up on Bethesda to give me a compelling storyline and I want Randy Pitchford of Gearbox crucified upside down for killing of Brothers in Arms. Bioware, still has *it*, but damn if I'm not going to say they can do better. I'm not politically correct. I will say what I feel from the heart. If it sounds like I'm shaming them... it's because I am. However, I will knock someone the fuck out if they cross the line. I've already had my say with a few YouTubers that had no business dragging Sam Maggs into the mud. I also hate being disrespected as a customer. $75 is nothing to me, but when you give me something fundamentally broken, you're never... ever... going to stop hearing about it.

Look, maybe you don't understand what I said there. Either; A) Casey Hudson had a massive influence on the Mass Effect game we all love, or; He didn't. But if it's A, then not showing the man any respect is not right. It's that simple, and that's exactly what's going on here. Enjoy your shit Mac Walters directed Mass Effect Andromeda instead. it's not about lack or respect. It's about not ignoring fault. I'm not ignoring all the good stuff he did for ME but I'm sure as hell not going to forget all the bad stuff he did as well. I'm not going to gloss over all the bad stuff done just to give hero worship. I'm glad he started ME but I'm still angry over how he ended it. Not as mad as I was before or mad at the same things as others but I'm not going to sing his praises without stating his flaws. I totally agree Dreman999.

So do people like Casey Hudson or not? I'm never sure what the consensus is from day to day. If a Bioware employee is working at Bioware, Bioware fans hate them. As soon as they leave, they love them and "want the old Bioware back."

They may be "millenials" with their very optimistic, SJW views, but who gives a shit about that? They still like to drink beer, have fun, smoke out and have the keys to make something that I will be using for several hours (haha... 2k on Origins... ooohh Morrigan and Leliana...) that couldn't be better time spent. Yeah. I know what you're thinking, but when you consider the greatest betrayal being our f***ed up Veterans Administration (GOD DAMN IT, YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW BADLY I WANTED TO DO SOMETHING AWFUL) kept delaying my appointments for counseling and giving me the runaround. Five years later, Baldur's Gate arrived taking me back to my youth of pen-and-paper D&D and ever since then... I'm still grateful. I can still be an opinionated dick, though.

.... That moment when ME2 is praised as "epic sci-fi."

Faceman, I hear that. However, I don't know enough about the videogame creation process since EA took over. I had a really good handle on it beforehand, but I hate blaming writers and leads without knowing the whole situation. If you think it's him, then I believe you. I can blame Flynn because he's at the top of the food chain that runs parallel with EA's liaison. They set the tone and if they're shitty (like Glassdoor, LinkedIn, etc. says they are) then you best believe I'm invested enough to complain. I'm not invested at all in any other company. Bethesda, fuck off. Thank God for the modders there. Ubisoft, fuck off. Terrible releases and no tech support. Gearbox, fuck off. I'm going to give Randy a real black eye if I ever see his lying ass (G2A, another black eye). Bioware, a big hug to Flynn with a request to try harder.

So do people like Casey Hudson or not? I'm never sure what the consensus is from day to day. If a Bioware employee is working at Bioware, Bioware fans hate them. As soon as they leave, they love them and "want the old Bioware back." Manveer Heir. Really? I want to force choke him and beat him silly with a stick so he matches the female character creator.

Nah, but in the last few days, I've heard people call for Chris L'Etoile and Casey Hudson to come back, but back in the day, on the old BSN, there were all kinda threads about how these people (and others) should be fired or gotten rid of, 'cause they suck.

I can tell you honestly I wasn't one of those to complain. Like I said before, I couldn't snort the crack-cocaine... I mean play Mass Effect 3 for more than an hour at a time each day. It drove me bat-shit crazy but I'm responsible and have to do "things." Mass Effect 3 media shitstorm hit way before I had even gotten back to the Citadel to find out Cerberus attacked it. I'm one of those completionists that has to find every codex, every rare, every single trivial thing to appease my OCD. By the time, I had reached the ending, the Extended Cut DLC had already been downloaded. Yes, I thought the RGB ending made absolutely no sense. It made perfect sense in Fallout: Tactics, but here... just destroy or control made sense. The Extended Cut gave me some closure, but it was far from perfect. Did I hold in my distaste? You bet I did. Then the MMO Special Collector's Edition x 2 preorder fiasco. I couldn't play the game on the PC until about two months after release because of all the issues that plagued it at the time. Did I hold my distaste? Yes, because it's a new engine and dude, they're here in Austin. Bioware branched out to Texas and I couldn't be happier. Then Inquisition. Three months waiting to get past the first boss because the camera is wonky and oh yeah, my gaming mouse with six buttons was no better than a mouse introduced in 1981. WTF. And then patch testing and getting no response. None. Not one response. I forgave. Andromeda on the PS4 at launch. Fuck it. Not good.

Fuck it. Not good. I'm not gonna go into the ending fiasco of ME3, but I'll say that the Extended Cut did NOTHING to ease my disappointment with it (and yes, I completed the game before the EC, and watched EC endings on YT, couldn't be assed to see it myself). That, and the fact that ME3's story went downhill WAAAAAY before the ending. The ending was just the straw that broke the camel's back. I almost uninstalled ME2 after 5 minutes into the game, because Lazarus Project and being forced to work with Cerberus. With a Shepard with the "Sole Survivor background," and was as maliciously vicious towards Cerberus as Toombs was in ME1. Yeah, I almost didn't forgive Bioware right then and there. But, I went ahead, turned my brain off, and played through ME2, and it was a fun game. Story was shit, the disconnect from ME1 was horrendous, and it did nothing to drive forward the Reaper plot, but, hey, the characters were decent, and the recruitment/loyalty missions were pretty good. Too much "daddy issue" BS for my tastes, but after the crap that was the 1st 5 minutes, I just went with it. So after the Mass Effect Trilogy COMPLETELY let me down after ME1, I was very leery of buying ME:A. I completely avoided info about it's development until the last 3 or so months before release. And what I saw looked like ME1....but updated. Driving the Nomad to the missions instead of taking the Normandy through Mass Effect relays. And with the Nomad, we have the opportunity to jump off the trail a bit and do some side content while on the way to the bigger missions. So while ME:A definitely has its flaws, and I'm not blind to them, it's the first Bioware game since ME1 that's given me that same "feel." Better mechanics, rpg-wise. Better combat. A lighter, less serious tone, ala Firefly, which appealed to me after the darker, more cynical edge to the MET. I like darker sci-fi like the Expanse, but too much of that can get "old," so having some "Firefly" mixed in on occasion works for me. So while I agree there were some major issues in ME:A's release, and in some of the design decisions, not to mention the technical issues, I'm more ready to forgive those, simply because ME:A feels like a step back towards the promise ME1 gave in the sense of exploration and discovery. I know others will have a different opinion, and ME:A's flaws will bother them more. They just don't bother me that much, compared to the crap I saw in the last two games of the MET.

"So no matter how you look at it, Hudson had the final say and he is THE ONLY person responsible for the ME3 dissaster. He could have redeemed himself with MEA, but he rather left the sinking? ship." ME3 disaster ? Wow. So after comparing reviews and scores, how should i call Andromeda ? The biggest tragedy in gaming history ? Seriously..... You would say, but reviews and scores EVERYWHERE are saying something completely different. I would say, ME3 is much better game because of: writing, companions, music and emotional moments - last two we don't even have in Andromeda at all.
