I am going to rototill my garden plot after work today. I also will have to pull my risky roll my rototiller up a ramp and rototill my cement planter so I can put tomatoes in them. I actually like Roto tilling. I am going to plant a very limited garden these days. Tomatoes in the planters, potatoes in the back garden plot and thats all.

I did it all the plowing with a simple shovel, took me 3 days lol. But I did not have to rely on forbidden magic! Due to the unusually low temperatures all my plants are still indoors, planting them in the garden would risk freezing them to death. Annoying, I want them growing in my vegetable patches already goddammit!

It is a good workout but the tiller can really break down the soil so that there are virtually no lumps in it which just makes it much easier to work with.

I do the fine work with a rake, which takes forever - but also really relaxes me and makes me stay around longer in my garden. I kind of like machine less garden work, its not necessary anymore, nor is it easy but its.....pure.

Clearing garden for planting over the weekend.
The creeping charlie and lemon balm were in the middle of a fierce battle for dominion over the garden.

My tomatos are looking so so so far. Have to give them some miracle grow me thinks. My potatos are coming up and i can hill them properly now. I planted some garlic as well and the shoots are coming up.
Also my gladiolas fronds are coming up. I may have to find a way to support them as in the past some of them came up kind of thin and would flop over even before flowering.

I have some too, they're pretty and really tasty! Aw damn you! They grow slower then baby stegosaurus! I grow a ton of chili and paprika, when they start growing I always think there is no way they'll bear fruits because they are WAY too tiny and late, then fast forward a couple of weeks BAM! They suddenly start to grow exponentially! Its the same story every year. So worry not, chili and paprika grow in stages, like those rocket propelled grenade launchers. The first stage is just to get the rocket out of the tube, the second stage propels them to MACH 5.

Currently working on killing a Ficus Microcarpa, a money tree and some third unidentifiable plant that I was given. I'd love to not kill them, but relatives tend to give me stuff just to test their sturdiness. If they last a month in my household, they might be worth getting.
Surprisingly all three have survived for awhile. Ficus for three months now, but it ain't looking that great. Just need to add a rope with a miniature hanging from the other end and it'll be hanged man's tree from Witcher 3. Money tree is a seedling from a plant that I gave to my mother for mother's day over twenty years ago. It was the first thing I got when I moved out on my own for first time. Surprisingly it has survived all these years.
I am looking into possibly growing something on my balcony and getting some herbs for my kitchen, but things grow around me by accident, not because I did something right. I would quite like to save the ficus first though.

I need a green house for that the spring has been so cold in here that everything is late. If the autumn starts early I'm worried that apples, cherries and pears wont ripen at all

Though I could buy seeds meant for greenhouse...but I don´t have greenhouse In here, cherries are among the first fruits to rippen. They are already starting to get red. I don´t know where you live, but I bet you will have lots and lots of cherries if nothing else. Cherries....everywhere

Here is a little excerpt of my chili plantage. I can't plant them outside in the open, they require a very warm safe place and they need to be mobile so I can evacuate them into the garage when a heavy thunderstorm comes. They are very sensitive to wind. Greenhouse isn't an option either because of aphid infections, which is always devastating with paprika and chili type plants. The left plant is a very rare specimen that grows in the Caribbean jungles, its leaves have a purple border. It produces round fruits with yellow tops and red bottoms that have an incredibly exotic taste. Level 10+ on the hotness scale. The plant on the right is a considerably milder but still hot Big Sun yellow Habanero. Level 9. This is a cute little guy, not very hot (level 5 or so) but produces a ton fruits very quickly despite its tiny stature. Its called ''Hot Heart'' because of the shape of the fruits. Chili blossoms. The blossom of hot chilis turning into a ripe fruit takes about 20-25 weeks of good warm summer weather. So I can expect to begin harvest in mid August. Its a tight schedule, a delay past September is dangerous because the temperatures start to decline very quickly in that time of year. These plants need warm weather and lots of sun. Tiny plant babies! My catwoman thinks onion patches make great cat toilets and excellent dust baths. Also giant poppy!

Giant ambush beetle,
I have a bush of the giant poppy it is almost done blooming sadly. I did not know what it was (bought the house last fall) and left it to grow. The flowers are gigantic and love the bright red colour of the leaves.
Do you know if it will return or do I need to collect seeds from it?

Also giant poppy! Poppies are my favorite flowers, I plant them everywhere and there are so many different varieties and species of them Your cat is supercute too! My paprikas are maybe 4cm tall atm I hope when I get them to the greenhouse (painted the wooden parts today yay!!!) they will start really growing. Aetika, cherries aren't really happy the live so far north I am so I'm not sure if I get any. My cherry tree is very small and young too, last year I got 5 cherries from it Raspberries and currants will make it though, so I'm not completely out of crops

Oh boy they definitely return - The blossom in the picture comes from a small poppy plant I planted next to my raspberries and then forgot about. That was 5 years ago, every year it returns bigger and better with nearly no maintenance at all. Only when its extremal dry I will water it a couple of times.

My girlfriend and I are collectors and tenders of potted orchids, in stead of buying special soil we simply add cooled down water that's been used to boil rice with. It works wonders for our flowers, might work for other plants and vegetables too. Those are my two cents. If I had a yard I would definately grow my own spices and such

But Finland is not exactly easy turf for those plants. I know in greenhouses in Iceland exotic plants (paprika, bananas) need two years to grow ripe fruits due to the lack of sunlight.

Experimenting is great! Sunlight isn't really the problem during summer but I think I was just too damn late with the paprikas. Luckily they make nice indoor plants as well. Maybe I will just plant them to big pots and take them to greenhouse for the summer and then in autumn the pots are easy to bring back inside.

Due to your location they might not gather enough sunlight per day to bear fruits due to their slow start. Paprika and Chili are EXTREMELY dependent on regular sunlight. Even here in Austria we have just enough sunlight and sunlight intensity to grow them, any delay is problematic. Also, if you like poppy, here is a special one - Icelandic poppy. They're small and as the name suggests, they grow in Iceland, but also near glaciers. They might even grow in Finland, have you seen them growing in the wilds? I grow mine in a special location in my garden that is always relatively cool compared to the rest - it works!

I've seen people grow paprikas here so yes, it can be done. I'm talking about bell paprikas, lets clear that out. Chilis can be grown even inside, I've done that before too. Yes, I have those poppies. They are not flowering yet though. I can plant them anywhere my yard, they wont mind And those cute hairy balls... Here's some wild strawberries ( Fragaria vesca) from my yard. I hope they would spread everywhere and make those little delicious small berries!

Growing Chili indoors is very surprising. What kind of chili plant was that? I tried to grow them indoors once and despite the sunny place on the window they all showed severe signs of too little exposure to sunlight. (Yellow leaves, small build, tall but thin stems) I also don't know anybody who grows them indoors (successfully). Also high five for tiny strawberries! They grow like crazy in my garden, many people laugh at them but I think they taste great! Also the way they propagate is funny - they build a long thin ''arm'' that crawls across the ground and new plants start to grow from it. Its kind of weird, like an umbilical cord.....that is also a womb....that crawls across the ground. Well, kind of. Definitely material for an Alien flick.
