I think the launch reaction was undeservedly negative, but let's see how long this thread takes to burn down... From the critics? I'd say not really. It has a 70 score on Metacritic, and that's fair for Andromeda. Some reviewers very nicely detailed the problems with Andromeda. The fan reaction was huge because expectations were big and Bioware/EA already carrya lot of bad press. So it became a huge joke because of its problem which cannot be overlook but also because of that.

No slack, they had 5 years. Also, they chose to release an unpolished product. I'd totally understand if there were bugs that missed QA, but the ones at launch were purposely ignored. Yeah, no slack. As a consumer who's spending money, I have a standard of excellence that's to be expected. This game was a mess and currently still is. I really hope Bioware and EA learned their lesson this time.

I think the criticism was well deserved coming from someone who suffered from a large amount of bugs and technical issues that directly affected my enjoyment of the game. I can take a game that is finished and polished but has some bugs. However, this game clearly was not finished and not ready to be released. If I'm paying $60 or more for a game, I expect more.
As an accountant, I understand that they had this in their budget for last fiscal year, and come hell or high water they were going to release it last fiscal year. But any blowback they received from that decision was well deserved IMHO. I stopped pre-ordering DA games after DA2, so it's almost a certainty that future DLC and an eventual ME:A 2 I will take a wait and see approach on.

Publishing AAA titles comes with certain expectations in regard to quality.
But sure, I'm not going to burn down EA, at the worst I'm going to think longer before buying their products. Yep. This preordering fool no longer exists. It's collector's edition for me. All the patches and DLC in one package, discounted. There used to be a time when after preordering, I would hunt down clothes, posters, figurines, etc. Pfff... no thanks now. EA = Enthusiasm Annihilated

Expectations high ? Seriously ? I could forgive a lot of dumb things which they include in Andromeda and all those bugs just for a QUALITY AND WELL WRITTEN MAIN STORY - but i didn't get even that...

Ummmm go look at the EA help thread and see how many game breaking, critical bugs have still not been addressed. Or, like, even noted.

It's very naive to believe the technical faults, animation issues, broken side quests and general bugs were not well known by the time of release. They were most certainly not fixed within days and I'm still encountering buggy sidequests and cutscene glitches. There have been mends to some of the most widely mocked issues but this game still needs more patches.

You know again this game reminds me So much of DA 2. In its reception and quality. Both are truly great games buried under a lot of layers of crap...just MEAs flaws are easily fixible as evidenced by plot 1.05. But Biowares two most unique and human stories get widely panned for...well a lot of things tbh...a game where they took a lot of risks and did a lot new...but don't worry if we get another game we'll get another world is ending plot where the Remnant builders turn out to be some evil super.force and we'll get Shepard 2.0 to save them. And some ridiculous final choice forced on us at the last minute.

I love Bioware and love Mass Effect, but the criticism was well deserved. I waited 5 years for a broken game. I have literally never played anything as buggy as MEA was at launch.

Come on now, I was encountering bugs every 15-20 minutes at launch. Also the facial animations fiasco. Either they ignored it or this game was tested by blind people. Did we play the same game? You know again this game reminds me So much of DA 2. In its reception and quality. Both are truly great games buried under a lot of layers of crap...just MEAs flaws are easily fixible as evidenced by plot 1.05. Prepare for utterly crap story with nothing new, because hey, we don't seem to want the new! I love Bioware and love Mass Effect, but the criticism was well deserved. Not counting the facial animations I really only had a couple of side quest bugs however on my second PT as a new game+ i have seen all kinds of bugs, glitches, crashes that put this game on par with Fallout New Vegas bug fest release. I could live with it if BW was better at putting out patches which they are certainly not. I heard they (or someone else) released some modding tools so if that is true then at least we can look forward to the modding community fixing a lot of things although I will believe that when I see it, BW has never been mod friendly.

Don't expect modders to fix anything. Modding is very limited. Check what mods are available for DAI and you will get an idea on what kind of mods you can expect for MEA. Also, expect your mods to break with every patch and to most likely not work with DLC.
EA nor Bioware deserve any slack. Is MEA the buggiest game I have encountered? Nope, but it's the buggiest ME game I have encountered. Games that have been in production for 4+ yrs and release in the state MEA released are typically that way because of studio mismanagement. There are always exceptions, but most times it's mismanagement. A relative that has been working in the gaming industry for 16+ yrs as a software engineer is where I got that bit of information from.
