How come there is no thread for Borderlands? Anyone who loves co-op shooting is simply fated to fall in love with this franchise! Also, the entire franchise is on sale on Steam this during this mid-week (September 7th-9th), so the cheapskates who play on PC and haven't played Borderlands yet are having yet another chance to give it a try ( I happen to be of them myself, since I haven't played the third game yet, but hopefully we can discuss more of that in the comments section).

I've been meaning to play the series since I've finished the Telltale game. The setting and humor seem really interesting, but I'm really not into shooters. The only ones I've really enjoyed were the Mass Effect series, The Division and Tomb Raider, though I've mostly used the bow in that one. The first two games have been sitting in my Steam library unplayed for about two or three years now. But the boyfriend bought the first one the last time it was on sale and we've been meaning to play through it together, just have to find the time.

Finally.. I was waiting for someone to start a Borderlands thread. Sadly, I can't profit from the Steam sale because I already own EVERYTHING.. except those stupid skin/head packs for BL2. Played over 500 hours of the second game with a friend. Finished the first game a couple of weeks before with my girlfriend and her brother. We're currently playing the Pre-Sequel and I'm really looking forward to play as Krieg again (LIGHT THE FUSE) (reading all the names they gave his skins and heads is fun too .. by the way: is there still a way to get his REACH FOR THE SKY head? It was appearantly part of a 2013 community event and it looks badass) .. but Axton is still my favourite.. I like turrets (just like in The Division). I've been meaning to play the series since I've finished the Telltale game. The setting and humor seems really interesting, but I'm really not into shooters. The only ones I've really enjoyed were the Mass Effect series, The Division and Tomb Raider, though I've mostly used the bow in that one. But the boyfriend bought the first one the last time it was on sale and we've been meaning to play through it together, just have to find the time. I'm not a ego-shooter fan either but the BL games are just great to play with friends. And yes, the humor is hilarious , BL2 did it best IMO. You won't regret finding time for that.

Hah, you beat me to it! I was going to do this thread, but then I had to leave house before I got a chance... And there it is when I'm back Well, I'm in rage mode because of this series right now. Accidentally deleted my Maya save... Right before entering Dragon Keep... Last area... Last DLC to finish before moving to another mode... And I had such nice gear... Still love this series, but...

I actually considered the idea of opening a thread about BL the other day, believe it or not. Anyways, really liked the series. Fav would be BL2. Although 1 is really cool, I like how in 2 we have more unique weapons. Pre sequel was okay but overall not an improvement of the series.
Also, did you guys see the Gearbox conference at PAX? I haven't, but according to the internet they basically embarrassed themselves by giving the crappiest conference you could possibly think of, and not even said a word on BL3.

Borderlands is as much of a shooter as those games you have already played, so yeah, I would say you won't have problems with this particular shooter. The only difference in Borderlands are the guns which are weirder and crazier than they tend to be in other games, lol. You will enjoy Borderlands games, especially Borderlands 2. It has a much nicer campaign (imo) and it's a masterpiece when it comes to having fun with friends in a game

alineinabookAgreed with spacev3gan . Borderlands 2 is the best. I suggest giving it a try. That mayhem is addictive, especially once you find better and better weapons. Those grenade mods can be crazy. I'm actually playing it solo, so with my and spacev3gan 's words, you know you can enjoy it alone as well as with friends

What I am considering buying on this Steam sale is the BL Pre Sequel's Season Pass. I've already got the game, bought it on a Humble Bundle some time ago. I haven't played it yet but from the videos I've seen I really got interested in playing as the Baroness so its cool to get this Season Pass at a discount. Though I am concerned that the BL Pre-Sequel doesn't seen to have a community as large and lively as BL2's one. Besides that, chances are I will be playing public games and playing Borderlands public games is something I never tried on either BL game before. So yeah, this is gonna be weirder than ever. I just hope I can find matches.

I definitely plan on giving it a go, but I think I'll wait until the boyfriend is motivated enough to play it with me. I played about an hour of the first one and was just panicking the whole time whenever enemies appeared, because I'm so used to third-person view that I was just wildly turning around to see from where I was taking damage. It was the same with Bioshock. Plus, that game was spooky.

I still have the prequel to play but I keep getting side tracked. Does not help I have heard it's not on the same level of BL2 which is the best out of the shooting ones (Tales is the best Borderland game imo)

A bit salty I'm unable to carry over my level 50 Siren with a kickass DAHL skin, so I'm currently running Mechromancer. I also need people to play with. Xbox one gamertag is Impulse Melan, shoot me a message if you want to play some Borderlands 2. At the moment I'm like, level 13 or something. I'm also down for the first Borderlands on the 360.
Also, getting to the topic, while I do like Hyperion and all, they aren't the Crimson Lance. I felt the Crimson Lance were better enemies to fight against, rather than fighting robots.
Still have yet to really play the Pre-Sequel though.

I've only played a tiny bit of it, likely going to play it after my first run through on Xbox one BL2 since I bought the Handsome collection. Lost my old Borderlands 2 for the 360 ages ago so it's been a while and never have been able to buy the Pre-Sequel for the 360 as well.

I'm one of the few people that actually prefers the Presequel to 2! I think that's mainly because of Nisha though... Tales from the Borderlands is still the best one though. That's what got me into the series!

That's what got me into the series! For me 2 was the first, so there's also sentiment speaking I liked TftB ( loved characters), but I'm not biggest fan of Telltale's game formula. Also small update on my save crisis. After fighting with Steam backup files, I was able to get my Maya back! Save's from before I started Tiny Tina's DLC, but still better than starting from the beginning! I'm so not going to make the same mistake *backups her saves in like 10 places*

If you or someone else want/wants to add me in steam (name in signature) I'd like a few hours of borderlands-madness once in a while. Playing with BSNers is probably better than playing with some Steam-randoms, I guess.

TftB was spectacular. So many emotions in a single game. A really good complement if you enjoy BL as a whole. Scooter though... What do you guys think about stuff like the New-U in game? (the thing that allow you to respawn) and some other nonsense. It was confirmed to not be canon, then it was confirmed to actually be canon, it's like Gearbox themselves can't decide.

A problem I have with them though is that we get a "new u" (or "new us") everytime we die but Roland in BL2 dies and stays dead even though he got new u scanned in BL1.. hm. Doesn't make much sense.. Still a fun gameplay mechanic though.

It was confirmed to not be canon, then it was confirmed to actually be canon, it's like Gearbox themselves can't decide. I think it's a really painful way of respawning (farewell, my cash). Otherwise... I find it interesting in-game mechanism that is hard to fit in any universe. Lines like "Greetings, clone-of-the-recently-deceased!" don't help I like what it says to me everytime I die. Makes me want to die again.. and to kill more of hyperion. A problem I have with them though is that we get a "new u" (or "new us") everytime we die but Roland in BL2 dies and stays dead even though he got new u scanned in BL1.. hm. Doesn't make much sense.. Still a fun gameplay mechanic though. New-U quotes are awesome. My favourites are: "Between you and us, that thing that killed you is a total dick. Please disregard this message if you committed suicide." and "Hyperion recommends swearing vengeance on the thing that killed you, unless it was an inanimate object such as a cliff." True about that bit with Roland. That's an example of what I meant by 'hard to fit in'.
Now I wonder if Angel was scanned as well.

Hm.. maybe Roland didn't die and that was really him in the Bunkers and Badasses game.. something must've fallen on his head though .. Also: Roland = White Knight Still find that funny.
