I like that reddit post, it summarizes things very well. It's a no brainer, 100% of your PC playerbase is on Steam, why do you have to force them to change all of a sudden? does that change benefits them? You know, having lots of money thrown your way as a publisher/developer is nice and all, but what about the consumers who buy your products and by extension pay your salaries? Do they see a benefit in any of this? No, all the fucking opposite actually. What an awesome way to give your consumers the middle finger. Just another day in this industry.
This will be the year of the disappointments for the PC community I feel.

Randy already attacking the fanbase on twitter due to the obvious EPIC outrage and BL review bombing that has been occurring on Steam. YIKES.
Using words like "fucking don't care" and what not, things that would get you usually fired if not because he's the CEO (I mean, there's still a board, but anyways). Pretty standard procedure for him to do this, nothing new. But if you're the CEO, don't be dumb. I respect his passion for the games they do, but come on, you simply cannot attack your fans like that, certainly not when they have all the right in the world to be upset. Could've just keep deflecting anything towards 2K, not that 2K even cares.

I am definitely having more fun with Borderlands 2 than I thought I would. Granted, it falls into the "mindless fun with friends" category that doesn't actually say all that much about the overall quality of a game. Buuut the Fallout-esque art style and all the crazy weapons are cool. Combat is satisfying because I always get to test new guns. The lack of a DPS number sucks a bit, so I never really know which weapon is actually better. But I usually go with which one feels the best anyway.
We're currently playing the Oasis DLC, which has some really fucked up humor with dead people collector. Like, daaaaamn. That's sick. While there isn't really much variety in the mission objectives, I dig the level design of the enemy camps. In that way it's like Fallout. The locations are fun to look at. And the crazy quirky quest givers keep things from becoming boring. So far.

Downloaded the handsome collection on Xbone having completed Borderlands 2 multiple times on 360. Bit of a pain having to import each character 1 ata time from 360 to Xbone.
But after that was done I have been pleasantly surprised how much better the game looks on Xbone, maybe it's the 60FPS but the game feels fresh and new again.

I had a complete story run with Mordi in Game 1 a few days back. Never played as Mordecai in game 1, but gotta say his action skill sucks balls. After that went back to TPS (which is the worst of the 3 games, is still good though) with the new BL Reborn mod, want to give BL2 a go with the Reborn mod too, it almost feels like a complete different experience, I mean in TPS the Logan's gun actually kills and it's good! holy crap never thought I'd see the day. ARs are also great which feels awkward to say the least. I have a lot of gripes with TPS, the gameplay is atrocious for how bad they balanced the story with the fun factor. So many halts in the middle of your game, so many "wait", so repetitive maps, Oxygen mechanic gets old real quick, etc. It still is fun, just not nearly as fun as BL2.
There will be a gameplay reveal in May 1st. Not sure how long it'll be, but hopefully is not another 2 and a half minute trailer.

The thing I love about gaming is the chance to start a series I've never touched. Plenty of time to play 3 games before Borderlands 3. That minimap right there is something we didn't have back then, enjoy Console players see the best of it now with the remaster, since the console version was inferior to PC, but they didn't update any textures per se on PC (in any game), it's just some QoL improvements and so called 4K support which most don't care. It's a nice excuse to go back though. So far. Usually go for "bigger damage number" when it comes to guns, but more or less you'll get the hang of how every weapon class works and how every manufacturer works, after that is all the same. It's not like every single weapon works differently or has its own recoil patterns. For instance, in vanilla ARs suck ass, don't bother using them, they also have a negative critical damage (for some reason). Hyperion SRs are useless too, because of Hyperion's negative accuracy, Hyperion shotguns though are the very best. Torgue guns are mostly useful on close range because of how slow projectiles are, also their "explosions" don't have AoE, so it's a bit deceiving, it mainly just works as a damage type rather than an actual effect, etc. I'd recommend you to give a go to the Reborn mod if you're on PC.

So yeah, yesterday was the big gameplay reveal thing. Lots of streamers got their hands on about 3 to 4 hours of the initial part of the game.
Really you can just look at youtube for any gameplay you want, but I'll toss some raw gameplay here just for the sake of it. All of the gameplay videos are in the same area, so you wont find much difference between one guy or another. Obviously there're minor spoilers. But GBX themselves edited what people could see in the build so there're not many cutscenes or much that actually spoils the story in the bigger picture.
As for the game itself. Quite honestly if you liked previous games there's no reason you wont like this one. It's basically Borderlands but better. If you never liked the games then obviously you probably wont like it, however make sure to give it a look on Twitch after it launches, you might change your mind. Heck, I really didn't like BL1 the first time I saw it, I thought it was weird AF, but eventually I tried it and loved it. Just gonna nerd out and point some things because reasons:
*Character movement is more on par of what you expect of a shooter in 2019. Sliding, grabbing ledges and jump over walls, better movement. No need for praising, it is expected. *Lots of QoL improvements. Better minimap (3D), better looking UI. When you inspect a gun now you can see which parts it has, they built in an extended UI for it. If you played previous games you know guns are made of "parts" (barrels, stocks, grips, scopes, underbarrel, etc) you can have 2 guns of the same brand with different parts and each part gives different bonuses, the only way of knowing which part was which was to look at the gun and recognize the parts by eye ball usually with the help of a chart you downloaded from the internet. Now you have an UI telling you exactly what you have. *Maps are better designed of what to expect of a 2019 game, more verticality, bigger, and more interesting to look at. *There's some sort of destruction for certain objects, like cover for instance. Nothing major though. *"Brand loyalty" I already knew this, but it's basically each manufacturer differentiates from each other not only by looks but for how their guns work. For the most part this is some sort of alternative firing mode or function. For instance Vladof guns have underbarrel something (like grenade launchers) so you can switch between using that or firing the gun normally. Maliwan allows you to change between two element types in your gun. Etc. *Gore is back. In BL1 gore was quite present in the game, you could pop heads, saw legs and arms by shooting npcs, in BL2 they dialed that down quite dramatically. In BL3 they went back to the way it was, which makes combat more fun. *Gunplay feels really good, just by looking at someone play you can already tell, which is a good indicator. Sound department is for the first time ever, on top. *All kinds of different guns that look and feel very different from each other. The "part" system they use to create guns is way more expanded this time around. Really this is what you expect of a game that calls itself a looter shooter.

There's only so much original Borderlands (1) I can handle in a session.
I need to do every single side-quest to keep leveled up enough that my ass doesn't get spanked.
And having every doggie respawn when I am traveling through covered territory is a little annoying.

And having every doggie respawn when I am traveling through covered territory is a little annoying. Yeah that's the way the game works, in 2 also. Kinda standard for a looter shooter I guess, can't tell, outside BL I haven't played any other looter shooter. I think BL1 is more annoying in that regard because enemies respawn even when you're still in the same instance (map/level). In BL2 things don't respawn unless you leave that instance and go somewhere else, if you go back they'll respawn. It's done on purpose so people can farm enemies for loot or XP.

If you're looking forward to 3, it's the best bet. Otherwise it's gonna take forever. Nox's DLC in BL1 has a well known exploit if you just want to get tons of loot or at least take a look at some higher level items, although it's the final part of the DLC and it can be a bit grindy to get there (mainly for the lack of fast travel in BL1 which is quite obnoxious). 2 with all of the DLC is quite long too, but just for the main story is truly worth playing also.
