I have no problem with Liam. I understand him perfectly. However, I remember when visiting Ireland my father swore I'd run across people I didn't understand. Never happened.

Drink six cups of coffee (topped with a dollop of self doubt and sprinkles of forced optimism) and you'll be fine.

Am I just to American or something? All his sentences just seem like jiberish to me. It might even bother me if he had anything worth saying. But still it is horrible. It's too bad it's impossible to kick him off the ship. Who the hell wrote him?

I remember reading a explanation of this somewhere. Apparently the person responsible for the creation of the Liam character mistakenly got the mouth and arsehole mixed up.

Jacob's greatest quote will always be Gravity's one mean mother! Except in Andromeda. You fall while rocks weighing 100,000 times your mass are floating. Wait, wat? There's literally "Mass Effect" surrounding them as you could see though. Electricity over and underneath them suggest it's the Terraforming network that's messing with the gravity.

I have no trouble understanding him at all, and as for the way he speaks (including type of dialogue) I hear similar on the streets where I live (south London). If anything, it needed more 'ye get me blud innit'. Mind you I find a lot of characters that use American accents and 'English' awful, so I guess I can see the point being made. They should have made Liam scouse, I would've spat my tea out all over my chips and gravy if they have done that. Christ, people already dislike Liam, making him a scouser would be overkill. Now what we need is a character with a thick Yorkshire accent. Subtitles would be mandatory. Ha. As a Yorkshire Woman, I doubt these people would understand us, if they have this much trouble understanding a clear Southerner accent like Liam's.

Except it's not the accent what people have issues with, is how he refuses to form proper sentences and instead likes to put up whatever ideas float his head on a single sentence, without elaborating each one. It's pure chaos, and it's not worth sifting through all that.
I made one example here Apr 12, 2017 2:55:19 GMT 2 LilTIM said: Liam posted: "We got to make it nice and friendly, until it feels home. Homesick maybe. Cheers uh?. That's what pisses people off".
Alistair is a god compared to this guy.

Luke Kristjansson, the mastermind behind Jacob and Sera Okay, he's got two of the most disliked characters in both franchises. He's got to pick up his game. It's okay to fail. Just keep trying and for Makers' sake... learn. He has depth because Sera (despite her speech), she is the champion of the "little people" and Maker bless her for it. Jacob, was never of a love interest of mine, so I didn't have that issue with him. His loyalty quest was well-written and one of those that will haunt you sometime. The more you learn about Jacob through this quest, the more respect you have for the guy, faults and all.

Liam reminds me a lot of Sera. Our first conversation about how he believes in the Initiative is so similar to the chat with Sera in the tavern when she first joins the Inquisition. Sera took a few playthroughs before I got what she was saying, and Liam is the same way. It's not hard if you take the time and read the captions. He just expresses himself in a way that makes sense why he and Jaal get along so well. He says what he feels without hesitation and goes from one topic to the next without a breather, but it's really not that hard to follow and you get used to it eventually. Well I got used to it lol he's a sweetheart really!

You did say Yorkshire, but we have a lot of towns named after England towns and villages. I come from New Windsor (a small suburb of Newburgh) which is near West Point. British influence is prevalent throughout the northeast.

Luke Kristjansson, the mastermind behind Jacob and Sera Minsc, Jaheira, Jolee Bindo, Grunt, Kaidan, Aveline and Carver. He was also lead designer/Writer on Baldurs Gate 2, wrote several main quest for KotoR, Mass Effect (original), and the Dragon Age franchise. Just like to bring it up in case someone is trying to tell me he is a bad writer because of Sera and Liam. He is not a bad writer, but clearly his ability to write characters is not a strong point. They are hit or miss and or just have tiresome tones at times. Grunt was great but very one note. Kaidan was kind of Meh. Sera was annoying. Jacob boring. Carver was tedious. Aveline for me wasn't a favorite but I liked her more than Anders who needed a bullet in the face. I don't know about the first three listed, so I'm going off of the ones I do know. There is a bit of a pattern forming here. Mostly I see one note characters who don't have much depth or a good deal or whining among them. Or annoying in general. I'd be careful about letting him write characters. Some of his are among the most hated and not because they are awesome evil.
