Played some RDR2 and Skyrim today. Funny how two games can be so similar but also so different at the same time.

ME5? Does that mean ME4 already released? I know about the trilogy and MEA. Old and gray? What is considered old? I've seen people in their 30's with gray hair. ME5 is just my lazy way of saying the next Mass Effect game and that it will be the 5th game in the series. Not that it will literally be called Mass Effect 5.

If any of those things happen before DA4 - especially ME5 - I will throw a shit fit for the ages. Of those on the list ME5 is the one I don't mind waiting for since I think they need to get their house in order before releasing the next ME and MEA isn't that old. But with the other ones on the list it is like all the publishers and devs collectively decided to twiddle on their thumbs for a decade as they chased market trends and games as service crap for a decade leaving singleplayer fans of some beloved franchises out in the cold.

Despite my general dislike of the mmo genre it seems all I have been doing the last several months has been playing mmos. Mainly STO and SWTOR though it is mainly to explore the iconic fictional universes the games take place in and not so much because of the games themselves. Last night I decided to fire up Skyrim for the first time in a long time and start a new character. It is good to be in a real singleplayer rpg again. Nice to feel immersed without having to deal with MMO clutter.

In SWTOR, you get an achievement pop-up, a title and a "respawn" button. The game I have tried, in earnest, to play 4-7 times. Just cannot get into it, and I know if I could get past my issues with control/combat, I would love a lot of the story stuff. Oh well, not every game is made just for me. I will write my congressperson! I like SWTOR despite it being an mmo not because it is an mmo. I like being able to indulge in my Star Wars archetype fantasies where I can be anything ranging from a powerful sith that induces fear from my enemies to a smuggler looking to make a quick buck. The roleplaying is still worth it for me but the mmo gameplay ugh. Always wish they had just made kotor3. I will say this though I started putting my Sith warrior through the expansions and it is alot more story heavy and feels less mmo like.

As the empire's top enforcer and emporer's chosen wrath I will force choke her and destroy her like I did Darth Tubby. That's why I am regularly in the PvP instances. However when I slaughter the players there, they log on their other faction toon to moan in whispers how it's an instance for farming and it's forbidden/rude to attack them. I don't give 2 shits about pvp. You can go pvp in a sarlecc pit for all I care.

THEY WERE THERE FIRST!! Do you you just cut to the front of the line at the grocery store, or grab someone else's food after they ordered it? The shit you pull would get your ass kicked in real life. Not to mention it hurts immersion when having to wait for a quest objective to reset because sone douchebag swooped in on the rancor (or whatever other ridiculous mount they picked, people should pick to a proper speeder or at least an appropriate animal), while I fought the mob guarding the objective. And no clicking on it before fighting the mob doesn't work because that hurts immersion. I was first to the objective, it's mine. End of story 😉 It ruins my immersion trying to wait other people to play the game according to their stupid ideas of immersion. And if I got a rancor, I'll rancor it if I like. You want to ruin my immersion RPing a Nightsister that was enslaved and trained as a Sith? As the empire's top enforcer and emporer's chosen wrath I will force choke her and destroy her like I did Darth Tubby.

You shouldn't need a rule to tell you not to be an inconsiderate dick. If someone is dealing with a mob to get to a quest objective you should let them finish up before moving in. You are rampaging through their game experience and negatively impacting their game. So,just as I said - no rules 😂 How about this: them fighting a mob instead of just clicking the objective clearly means they don't care or already clicked it. It's negatively impacting my game to wait up and see which one is it. I always go and click, then fight if I have aggro. It's a very simple mechanic. Barely any objective requires you to not be in combat and they are usually in instanced areas anyway. THEY WERE THERE FIRST!! Do you you just cut to the front of the line at the grocery store, or grab someone else's food after they ordered it? The shit you pull would get your ass kicked in real life. The problem with Templars was never their training. The problem was who was holding their leash. Templar training is extremely useful but the chantry should not have been the ones to have authority over the templars. It would be better off if the nations of Thedas trained their own Templars and included them in their military and law enforcement infrastructure. They need to be more like civil servants and less like religious zealots.

Complete quests and no loose ends is a must. I don't want another "quarian ark" scenario. More realistic combat animations for warriors and rogues. If I want over to top magical animations I will play as a mage. Better body proportions for elves. DAI did well with the other races but elves looked like malnourished teenagers. Smaller is fine but give them better proportions. I could never finish DAI as an Elf due to how their body type looked which was a shame since revelations about elven lore was big in the latter part of the game. Better armor options for all classes. And more variations and options within the different racial styles. Better hubs and cities. It goes without saying Val Royeaux was disappointing. If a city has a feature or location that is well known in lore I want to see it. I second four out of five of these BioWare. Curious about the one you disagree with.

Animations are too cartoonish for my liking. Also would like to see some consistency to world and level design. I am tired of bouncing between extremes. We went from too small, confining, and repetitive in DA2 to big and bloated in DA3. While not perfect DAO had the best level design.

My personal favorite are the players who hang back, let me aggro the mob, and then rush in to loot the quest objective. I am the player who stealths past both of you and gets the objective while you doodle. You understand that is a dick move right?

They need to do a better job designing elves in the new one. I could never finish DAI with an Elf due to how frail they looked. Always found myself starting over with a human or dwarf. I know! I've always hated how they look scrawny and skinny. At least in Skyrim, they have human bodies Yep, even little wood elves look like they can at least fight. Even DAO I could play as an elven rogue and it seemed convincing (at least with the males, the female elves still looked frail though not as bad as DAI)

Maybe this is just me because I am normally not an mmo player, but does anyone else get annoyed by other players that feel the need to jump into another players fights? There are plenty of mobs go find your own. They are almost as bad as the dudes that will steal a quest objective when you are dealing with the mob that was surrounding the objective and because of these selfish jackasses you have to wait for the objective to reset. Most of the time these guys are marauders (or sentinels) that think they have a force given right to rampage through everyone else's game because they are dual wielding lightsabers.

I have the weirdest relationship with this game. I won't touch it for a couple years then I will play it almost obsessively for 2 months straight but always starting over from scratch and while trying to play all the class stories which means I have 8 characters I alternate between then I eventually burnout and repeat the same process a couple of years later when I get Star Wars hungry but never getting anywhere. I thought I was the only one who had this issue. I also keep re-rolling the same characters. Finally got a sith sorcerer to Corellia the other day. Not bad after a decade.

Picking from the characters I made. I think my masculine bearded wood elf would destroy my skinny malnourished elf boy in inquisition any day, with just his bare hands. They need to do a better job designing elves in the new one. I could never finish DAI with an Elf due to how frail they looked. Always found myself starting over with a human or dwarf.

The long cycle will have almost nothing to do with end quality imo. This. I blame that damn 'a delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is bad forever' quote for making people think otherwise. Most games aren't going to be masterpieces regardless of development time and I'd rather not wait a sizable chunk of my lifespan for them. Exactly, alot can happen in a decade. If a developer has managed to create a fictional universe that grabs my attention and pulls me in and then leaves me hangin on a cliffhanger then decides to fiddle around for a decade while daddy publisher can't make up their mind if they want the next iteration to be a games as service, shared world mmo bs, or back to single player. Then daddy publisher decides the developer should cast beloved fictional fantasy universe aside to work on shared world shooter looters so greedy daddy publisher can make more profit but when that blows up in his fave he decides that developer can go back to fictional beloved universe because by the time the game is actually made the fanbase should have time to play it now since we will be in the old folks home.
