So, I fired up DAI again after 3 years and this is my latest Letha Lavellan. More pics below, spoilered for size!

My Wardens are often subject to change but if I had to pick, my canon Warden would be my DW Warrior, Queen-Consort Victoria Cousland. I also have several Inquisitors but my absolute favourite is my Dalish Mage, Letha Lavellan. There is however, only one Hawke canon for me and that is Adrienne Hawke, the sarcastic Mage.
Now for sheer power, my Warden is already at a disadvantage since she is a muggle. So the real fight would be between Hawke and Lavellan. And I think they would be rather on par since they both rely heavily on elemental magic. But in the end, I think Lavellan would come out on top. Firstly, because of the Anchor. But even after it has been removed she might still win. Because in my mind, elves are just overall a bit better at practising magic.

I never "plan" a character for a first run. Never. I pick the answers that look like the most fun to me. So Sara doesn't really end up boring for me, I really like her. I need to get to know the game first and only then start to plan characters in consecutive runs, when I know better. That said, I'm now pursuing something with Liam, don't know if I'll keep him or move on to Reyes when I meet him. Would be a first for me not sticking with a LI but I'm not really feeling it yet and now he made a booboo which seemed just too stupid for me to comprehend. But we'll see. Also, Peebee. At first I thought she was funny. Then I got a bit annoyed with her over the top restlessness. And to top it off, I thought the game was going to make me do naughty stuff with her in that escape pod. I didn't even want to go inside with her, let alone blow off steam. "Get away from me!". And when she said; "No explanations." Followed by Sara still trying to apologise even though I picked the non-I'm sorry option... It's like they really, really want me to go for some sort of a love-triangle. I might've gone for it if they presented me with a guy who's actually hot. (Sorry Liam, but no...)
Sorry if it's a bit negative, but I just needed that off my chest. :srs:

Meanwhile, my game still hasn't come in the mail yet. I'll just bet it won't arrive before 3 o'clock. Though, I hope it's not a repeat of when I pre-ordered DA2. Which came a day later. Next time I'll just pick it up at a store when it's out or near launch. I got to buy ME3 one or two days before EU launch so I seem to have better luck with stores than with the mail. If you ordered on Amazon, let them know. Unlike GAME which didn't seem to give a damn that my launch preorders hadn't even started their process after launch, Amazon is quick to try to rectify the situation and compensate you. They may even give you a digital code. Nah, no Amazon. That's not a thing here. But they came after 3 like I predicted. Funny thing is, my game, which is PC version. Is just an empty box with a booklet containing the code. We received an email yesterday from the store we ordered at that they were not aware of this until they received the games themselves. I wish they would've just mailed me the code instead of sending an empty box via mail.

My -official- canon is Queen Cousland ruling together with Alistair. However... My headcanon/unwritten fanfic dictates that she, along with female Amell, survive their Origins without Duncan's intervention. Instead my female Dalish -Mage- became the Warden. That way there's a chance for them to produce an heir, Cullen to be reunited with Amell at last during DAI and my Dalish Elf touring the Coast of Antiva and Rivain with Zevran instead of looking for a cure.

I've honestly had someone IRL tell me, when I said I had a headcanon that a character, who's sexuality wasn't even confirmed, was gay that I was "erasing straight representation" Oh my gods! I'd legitimately blow a puff of glitter in their face (cause all gays keep a pouch on them at all times) and walk away. HAHAHAHAH

Everything Purple F!Hawke says is gold. And there's so much I can't even pinpoint what I like most. Also really liked the Inquisitor's bear puns in JoH.
But I thought this line by those Fereldan miners was funny too.

...have never been able to finish a Dwarven playthrough because there's no Dwarf to pair them up with. I like to match my LI's races to the race that I am playing that particular playthrough. So there can potentially be babies. I do the opposite, haha! Interspecies relationships for everyone. Haha it's good to have options! But I like to piece them together like a puzzle. Same reason Kaidan will forever be my one and only LI in ME. I might've made an exeption for Thane, but yeah...We all know how that turned out. And let's not even mention Jacob, he doesn't count.I only hope that I get at least one LI in MEA that I like.

I confess that I... ...can't play DA2 and DAI as anything other than a mage because the other classes don't feel *special* enough to me. :heh: ...have only been able to play another class in DAO because I like the other Origins much better than the mage one. ...have never been able to finish a Dwarven playthrough because there's no Dwarf to pair them up with. I like to match my LI's races to the race that I am playing that particular playthrough. So there can potentially be babies. ...always give my Hawke a name starting with an A so the names of the Hawke children will be ABC. And in my head I start to sing; "ABC, easy as one, two, three." whenever I create a new Hawke. ...always do every companion-related quest, even if I don't like them. Otherwise the game feels unfinished to me.

Well, I did think so. But then I replayed DAO and I got the ending where he married Kaitlyn. Her being younger, prettier and probably a lot nicer, I doubt he would go for Isolde. But perhaps they did have a thing once. I also suspect Connor to be his. Then again, the way Teagan is portrayed in DAI makes me think Kaitlyn may have ran away from him after he's gotten so old and cranky. Or maybe he got that way because she disappeared. Who knows. :poker:

I try to switch them up and also consider which party member would best be suited coming along. Like when doing the Mage quest line, I took a whole party of Mages. Or when doing Grey Warden stuff I'll take Blackwall. Or when doing chantry/templar stuff Cassandra. Solas and Sera get taken along to Elvish quests etc. I like the setup of 1 warrior, 1 rogue and 2 Mages most but do deviate when I think it's called for. But in terms of banter, I always take Solas with me. Mainly because he's my main LI but also because he usually has some insightful things to say. I also interchange Sera and Cole a lot for that reason because they comment on the romance. During normal quests I switch up Cassandra and Blackwall but when I go dragon hunting I usually take Blackwall and the Iron Bull because he loves killing dragons. My choice of Mage depends on the type of dragon. Vivienne for a fire dragon, Dorian for an ice dragon and Solas for lightning.

Well, all I can say to that is that I didn't feel the same as you regarding Thessia. So I don't really understand what you mean by being "shoehorned into feeling a certain way". I mostly certainly didn't feel like that was all my fault. I actually like to be shaped by the world I'm in, gives me perspective. And as long as they don't over do it with auto-dialogue, I'm sure we'll be able to respond in a manner of ways. Even if our new protagonist hails from Tevinter. But to each their own, of course. You've contradicted yourself. All of the autodialogue after Thessia forced Shepard to say that the loss of the planet was his fault, that it was one of the worst possible things to happen, and everything was oh-so-terrible now that Thessia was lost. I'm not referring to the player, I'm referring to Shepard. But getting back to the point, being shaped by the world forces autodialogue. Someone who grew up knowing magisters had certain rights is going to react differently to someone who doesn't know that. Have I? Well I simply must've forgotten that particular bit hen. It has been a while. My apologies. I understand that being shaped by the world requires some for of auto-dialogue, which is fine if there's not too much of it. And I'll gladly accept that in exchange for actually being someone rather than a formless, backgroundless orphan from some other country.

If that was case, I would feel as though our entire perspective is forced. I had a rough enough time being forced to accept how "terrible" it was to lose Thessia, and that "it was all my fault." I don't want to be shoehorned into feeling a certain way. That's why an outsider is perfect. I can choose how to react. Plus, it gives the writing staff an excuse to surprise me. I'm not sure we'll agree. That's just how I feel. I don't want to be shaped by the world I'm already in. Well, all I can say to that is that I didn't feel the same as you regarding Thessia. So I don't really understand what you mean by being "shoehorned into feeling a certain way". I mostly certainly didn't feel like that was all my fault. I'd rather sacrifice an extra year. Give DA4 an additional year of development, if that would mean they would spare some time for PC players and stop giving us bad ports. I want my damn action bar spread across my entire screen, dammit. And no weird menus.

The elf/dwarf face thing wasn't bad, but it worked much better when we were handling things about our background, like how dwarves were smugglers. If the characters all came from Tevinter, they'd literally say all of the same things.
Not exactly. The answers could be nuanced according to race. Or give them another option next to the "Tevinter dialogue option". I'm not referring to JUST asking questions. But familiarity with a story implies knowledge that we, as someone who doesn't have first-hand experience of Tevinter, don't have. This is coupled by the fact that Tevinter doesn't act like anything else. But we did not have any prior information about Dwarves, Elves, Mages or even common Ferelden society when first playing DAO either. We didn't need first-hand experience because we were playing through it, first-hand experience. Not knowing about a certain society or race as a player shouldn't opt me out of playing a person from said society or race. I don't want to be required to be told by others or read a novel or even pass an exam first on the Tevinter Imperium before I'm allowed to play a Tevinter citizen myself. Even though I like my Inquisitor, I still didn't like the mostly blank background and random nationality of a Free Marcher. I would love it if I could play a rather biased Noble Mage that gets swayed by one of their party members. Or an Elven slave who hates her "Masters" but finds common ground with other Tevinter natives. Or vice versa, an Elven slave who actually enjoyed working for her Masters and is suprised and distraught at seeing how different it is for most other Elven slaves. I want to play someone not just anyone.

I confess that I...
...only wanted MEA to come out as fast as possible so we can get closer to the release of a new DA game. ...can't kill the golems in GoA and hope I can kill them through the console instead. ...actually never played GoA before and that I'm pretty surprised how hard this DLC is even on easy. And I don't like that. ...I'd much rather continue on to DA2 instead but I feel obligated to finish GoA and Witch Hunt before I do. ...wish that I could play my Inquisitor again some time in the future so I can get some more romance with Solas. ;_; ...place Solas as my nr 1 LI. Beating Alistair, Anders, Cullen, Kaidan and Zevran by a mile. ...don't care about other LI's aside from those mentioned above. ...worry for MEA's romance options. From those that are speculated to be LI's, I don't like -any- of them. This will be ME all over again, though ME at least had Kaidan. ...have pre-ordered MEA but I'm not too bothered about it (yet).

I actually just discovered this place. When I play DA, any one of them, I need a forum to post and lurk in. So I went looking for a BSN replacement. And now I'm here and I see quite a few familiar names. That pleases me. Also....YAY Blanketfort! Totally happy when I saw this thread again. Here's a pic that's glad to be back.

Personally, if we're setting the next story in Tevinter, I want the hero to be outside of there. I don't know enough about Tevinter, daily life and whatnot, so if I'm asking questions, I'm going to think it's weird if the PC has been part of it their whole life. I say make us (regardless of race or class) an Antivan Crow. We get our own Assassin-type unique character tree in addition to the Prestige Class we can pick later in the game I'd rather not be the outsider this time. I already know what most non-Tevinters think of Tevinter. But I want to know what it's like to actually be from Tevinter. They could solve this issue by giving us a (temporary) party member who does the asking and our character can answer accordingly. Like when Josie asks our Inquisitor questions, I thought that was handled properly. Or when I played as an Elf I could comment on certain things with knowledge other races wouldn't necessarily have. (Granted, they messed up the Temple of Mythal in that regard.) But if there were more instances like Josie's, I wouldn't need to do all the asking myself. Or introduce us to Tevinter in a story-driven way. For an example, let's say our character witnesses someone get caught stealing and we see how Tevinter society responds to that. We don't always have to ask a slew of questions to get to know the country or culture. They can show us things, have us experience scenes or even have us explaining something to another character to teach us what's going on.

So I don't really hate anyone, they all have things that I find funny. Fenris' dry humor, Merril's gullible attitude and Sebastian's prudeness. But those three are the ones I get annoyed with most. I mostly play as a Mage, so often times when having Fenris in my party he disapproves of the things I do. Which would be fine, for the first Act. But even years later, when he has witnessed my Hawke actually making some solid choices in regards of helping people and being one of the cool Mages, he still nags and whines about them. Just give it a rest dude. Likewise, me mostly playing a Mage, I just can't stand Merril for being so dumb and naive as to believe the word of a demon. Killing her Keeper and possibly her entire clan. "Told you so." And since I'm a fervent Mage but also always romance Anders, I can't get over the fact that Sebastian demands my Hawke to kill her lover. I understand why he wants to of course. But he'd just have to do it himself. Or rather, he should've tried it himself. My Hawke would've naturally smeared the floor with his innards as soon as he'd so much as twitched in Anders' direction. Even though she could've done without Anders leveling the whole Chantry, she'd go to hell and back to keep him safe. So my final choice falls on Sebastian. Fenris knows his weakness well: This is one of the best scenes with him. I think many people don't saw this. Merrill's not responsible for the death of Marethari. All people responsible for his/her decision. Marethari decided. I hadn't seen that, no. Still, he does keep going on about it, the fact that he acknowledges this particular flaw in himself does not take away my annoyance. Also, yes Marethari decided to take the demon on. But it was Merril's prior actions that required Marethari to act in the first place. So I do hold Merril responsible for Marethari's death. And so would most likely my Dalish Wardens. Which brings me to another point I dislike about Merril, she has a completely different personality in DA2 than in DAO. They decided she should be the quirky, child-like and whimsical Elven Mage who picks daisies, has a penchant for blood-magic and summons demons out of her metaphorical sleeve. Whereas in DAO she appeared to be very cautious and a teacher's pet. Even making sure you have Marethari's permission to bring along that other Elf (forgot his name). I don't like it when they mess with a character's original personality/disposition or whatever else that is not part of a character's natural growing process. Something we should be able to witness for ourselves.

I don't have any kids yet though I do have a bun in the oven. Can't wait to regale tales of my own. I do however often get told things I did or said myself when I was little. Apparently I was quite early with just about everything. By the time I was 2, I went to daycare. But I always sat with the teachers and didn't want to play with the other kids. So my mom asked me why I didn't want to play with the other kids. And I told her whilst crossing my arms the way only a toddler can, it was because they stank (they still wore diapers) and couldn't speak yet. Another thing happened last month when one of my sisters-in-law had suddenly passed away and my other sister-in-law's youngest son who is 6 (though he's behind in development as he still can't speak all that well) commented on her death by saying: "Auntie Sandra is now game-over, huh mom?" We didn't know whether to cry or laugh at this.
