So my daughter just randomly excused herself from primary at church yesterday. She went to go wander the halls and "come find mom," since she had new teachers. Her teacher had to run after her! So when her dad got home from work, we had a talk about why she always has mom, dad, or a teacher with her. "Do you know what a stranger is?" "Yeah, they're bad and they throw you in the basement." Oh my. I could barely hold my face together. Luckily we taught her the difference between good strangers and bad strangers, and to not wander off. But if she's ever lost, to look for a mom with kids.

That reminds me of something that I did I think I was around 4-5 years old. We; my parents, my uncle (my dad's older brother), my aunt (my uncle's wife) and I, went to Mallorca for vacation. One time my parents told my uncle to watch me while they were swimming. I played some time in the sand and then went to our room in the hotel, because I had to pee and you don't pee into the ocean. Ofc I did not have the room key, but the maid was just cleaning it, so I just went inside behind her (she didn't notice me) and went to the bathroom. When she left she locked the door. On the beach, my parents had come back and asked my uncle where I was. He had no idea. Hadn't noticed me leaving at all. They searched the whole beach for me, thinking I might've drowned or whatever, till I called down from the balcony of our room "Mami! Papi! I'm here~ and can't get out!"

She ate two bites of her breakfast then threw it away yesterday. She then proceeded to beg for food every 3 minutes for the next 3 hours. "Nope, you should have finished your breakfast. No food until lunch." "But I'm hungryyyyyy." "Too bad." *3 minutes later* "Is it lunch, mom? I want chicken nuggets." "I'm not going to answer that." "But I want them....."

Usually my daughter says "Hello?" Or "Mom?" or "Good morning?" Through the baby monitor. This morning: "Holy Bum Popsicles! It's cold!"

My kiddo describes her dream:
"I dreamt that I woke up, brushed my teeth made myself a breakfast, ate it, dressed up, and daddy gave me a ride to school. Just as they were taking attendance, I woke up."
"...and then I had to do it all over again, mom!"

Driving the 8 year old (boy) to school. 8YO - Dad, how did you decide what your and Mum's last name would be? Me - Well, there's no rule about it, but Mum decided she wanted to change her last name to be the same as mine. Some people keep their own names, some hyphenate etc. Me - *explains hyphenation* Me - but it really comes down to the two people involved and what they're most comfortable with. 8YO - Oh. So when you got married is that when I started getting created? Me - *paralysed with panic* *I'm not ready for this, I'm not ready for this*.....Yep. 8YO - Must have taken a long time. Me - *manly chuckle* Yep Crisis averted. I know it's coming, but damn - I do NOT want to have that conversation yet.

When this had been settled so that I told my girl that you need a sperm cell from dad and an egg cell from mom to make a baby (yes, I used those exact words and showed the picture in my biology book she had found) she was content for some time. Then one day... girl: mom, how does the sperm cell get into your tummy? me: ahh... well... dad puts it there. girl: but how does dad put it there? me: oh well... (I have a strict no lies-code of conduct in parenting) dad uses his willy and puts the sperm cell in mommy's vagina and that's how the sperm and egg cells get together girl (laughing): mom, you're lying!!! And yes, I'm a biologist, no, I don't see sex and reproducing a taboo or dirty. Fight me.

It's thundering and lightning here, so the little one is scared. She snuggles me extra hard.
Then she lets out a fart from the depths of hell.

It wasn't so much about him as it was me. Just really don't want to have that particular conversation yet. He has a very expressive face and I can just picture the horror he'd project as I'm telling him. I don't want to fight you, I've seen your hands .

I think the most helpful discussions about sex came from a friend who treated it so casually, so everyday that it made everything much easier to learn. Personally, I agree with you in making sure kids are fully informed about important facts of life like that is essential. How else can they make responsible decisions? (I am emphatically against the notion that keeping them ignorant will prevent promiscuity).

Fun thread I have a kiddo but my favorite is one that was heard on mumble when the guild was having a raid. One of the women have a small child who is old enough to go on the toilet. The child has been using the toilet for quite some time now so mom was hoping that perhaps kiddo could start wiping her own butt now. Mom: "How about you wiping your own butt today, I will give you the paper" Child: "MOM! That's gross!!"

Daughter had a nightmare and was crying at 3 in the morning. Daddy went in to comfort and snuggle her for a bit... When she whispered to him:
"Daddy, you're stinky. You need a shower."

After being in bed for about 30 minutes, we hear "Daddy, please come here." Through the 2-way monitor. "What honey?" "I need to tell you something." "Well, tell me tomorrow." ".........Come here." So he reluctantly goes upstairs while I listen in.... "Daddy, are we going to take all of my stuffed animals when we move to our new house? Because I don't want to leave them." *starts crying* The places her mind goes when it wanders

My daughter is starting to play more and her new thing is "hiding". I use the quotes because she will "hide" by covering her eyes and laying down on the floor right in front of us and will giggle the whole time. Whoever she's hiding from has to say "Where is she? Did she disappear? I can't seem to find her" then she will sit up and squeal and then we act super surprised to see her magically appear out of nowhere.

My buddies and I still occasionally use, You're killing me Smalls! with one another. The other day at the market, my buddies 8 year old asked if he could get a box of cereal and when his father told him "no" the child replied, "You're killing me Talls!" I've never seen my buddy so radiant with pride, as he was in that moment.
