Uhh - they’ve ‘intentionally’ killed many, many franchises. They’ll be fine. And I agree Mass Effect will continue - in a remaster of the trilogy. My argument is that Andromeda is finished forever. I'm with you. I don't believe they will continue MEA in any form, but I still got that VERY small hope - but smaller every day - for some kind closure of Ryder's storyline. Something like ending of Stargate: Universe - everyone go to statis and MAYBE one day we will wake up... It will be not so hard to connect that plot with Quarians MAYDAY signal. Actually, that was one of the problems with ME A. Ending had minimal impact, and too many threads left open. An ending should have closure in some form...Andromeda just...was there. If the Quarian Pathfinder had shown up, if the Jaardan had been involved...well, I could go on, couldn't I...then we could have had a 'The Adventure Continues!' ending...instead, we just got... ... ... ... Seriously, that was it. IF there is to be negative criticism about the ending, I...well, what's there to defend? I liked Ryder, and most of the companions, but...this had the impact of a pillow fight when it should have been for the heavyweight championship. Or at least bantamweight. This was slaps and tickles (to quote Harley Quinn).

Oh, indeed they have...they killed STUDIOS. I'm simply stating that they won't kill ME...well, not for a while. No, there's no need to kill the franchise, as I already said yesterday when someone was hoping for official news from EA/Bioware. It would be a stupid thing to do because they might pick it up again at some point. If that's 3, 5 or ten years in the future doesn't really matter. Declaring one of their flagship brands dead, is a sure wáy to chase away customers.

I am half expecting a dlc and half expecting no dlc. For now I am going to say we will get one DLC. If anything I am expecting that EA wants Bioware to plug Anthem hard over the course of the next year while they quietly put Andromeda away. As a Mass Effect fan I feel like I am being put out to pasture.

I strongly suspect that both DLC and a sequel will come, since it would be silly to waste all the effort put into the setting.
Now it may take longer than originally intended. Internal review what went wrong since even the greatest fan cannot claim that ME:A is working as intended, will take some time and other projects need more focus now. DLC will come, possible less if the not-lore relevant (e.g. Jaws of Hakkon, Descend in DA:I) get dropped, but one wrap-up DLC like Trespasser is almost surely going to come. Even if it is just to signal that the game is supported in spite of the reviews, so that BioWare fans do not abandon the studio more than the usual turn-over .
And if the Kotaku article is right and the problems of ME:A truly happened because bad management in the early years of development, it is even less reason to not continue the franchise since that particular error is unlikely to be repeated and DA:I that a franchise can recover (The user score for DA:2 is barely better than the one for ME:A). Also as soon as anthem is out and the usual suspects move on to the new section this and other forums will have the usual mood swing agreeing that ME:A was an unpolished gem, but that Anthem is worst and the final nail in the coffin of BioWare.

It looks like DA 4 is pretty much guaranteed at this point but with the future of ME being up in the air you would think that DA would at least inherit the flagship mantle but I get the feeling that Bioware will plop that mantle right on Anthem instead. The next year is going to be very telling.

I know there is concern but Bioware has never abandoned their fans. You really think that's their major concern? We're not talking about buddies we have a beer with here, but about a major company being part of an even larger company. They won't do anyhing besides patches to satisfy the players unless there's a sound business reason to do so. These aren't modders doing something as a labor of love without getting any dime out of their efforts.

Meh there is at least three plot lines which could be tied up or used for launching off points for future DLC, the Quarian Arc, stuff with the Primus, and the mystery of the Jaardan. And there is one more...oh duh the Benefactor. And two of those could easily be combined into one...I just hope they do not have to pull a Serenity and use all these DLC to tie up loose ends rather then giving them their proper treatment in their own game(s).

Me too. They wouldn't do that. Even IF right now they were on the fence about doing another MEA, their minds could change for many reasons. Mostly, some time and space might make them consider that they still have a solid franchise that had one less than stellar game. Plenty of franchise games have had a game or three that didn't thrive and more still came. There really is no good reason to not make another MEA game. From a business perspective, even if MEA didn't make back most of its money, having all the issues it did, it would be worth giving another round to while being sure it had all it needed to succeed and do better than the last. But over time, I am sure it will do more than break even and if that is the case, the franchise is still solid and the story created many options for future stories. DA2 didn't do great by any stretch of the imagination and they came out with DAI. And that was a game they had to redo with a new engine on a new generation of consoles. That grueling part is already done here. I just don't see the end of ME at all. I see at least two DLC maybe even probably three and the next installment. But I don't let the fears and worries and doubts of other people influence me like it used to. This forum is like one big worry/fear/hate bomb at times. It's no surprise BW closed their forum and that even other companies are doing the same or not paying attention to their forums in general.

I think that can be easily tied up in a DLC possibly in conjunction with the Benefactor as well.

It’s all good vibes right now with Anthem - can’t risk more internet ridicule to tarnish the brand of BioWare with Andromeda DLC. It’s not worth it. And most of you seem pretty content with all the mediocre patches - the skeleton crew will keep shilling those out along with multiplayer DLC until that no longer becomes financially viable.

You know who I think the Benefactor is?........... No. 1. I hate Liara. There are few things I hate more in the Mass Effect Universe then Liara. 2. The Benefactor HAS TO be someone who came with them from the Milky Way, and if they clone Liara I just might loose it. Seriously like the game might actually use two tiers if they pull that. 3. I would rather have the Benefactor be someone new and we've never seen before, at least as far as the OT is concerned. That way they can do with them what they did with a lot of Andromeda did with the rest of the trilogy concepts, do pretty much the same thing, but put them in brand new and refreshing twists that succeed in making the old thing new.
