They're more accurate than a 3 day sample of 113k users. If you refuse to take into account VGChartz or NPD data, both of which have been doing this for years - while heralding a 3 day sample from a non-gaming website... then i don't know what to tell you because you have incredibly thick rose-tinted glasses on. Huh? Its common practice to ignore NPD and VGChartz when considering digital sales. They haven't been 'doing them for years'.

So all this talk of the dlc has had me wondering 2 hings:
1: When was the last time a AAA game didn't release dlc aimed at the core player base?
2: Is all planned dlc going to be put out as one package, instead of releasing several sections?
Just my thoughts.

And NPD does track some digital sales - not Origin though. www.polygon.com/2016/7/12/12158862/npds-tracking-reports-to-include-digital-sales-for-the-first-time

Just my thoughts. I can't think of a recent AAA game off the top of my head... but then again, Andromeda is one of a kind for the amount of derision and ridicule it's received. i think the best you could probably hope for is one DLC, multiple DLC sees unlikely at this point. There's always the books.

suikoden VGchartz doesn't include digital sales, while NPD only speculates on digital sales. Microsoft and Sony do not give them any sales data. Also that sale 2 days after release was a bug. Enough with your conspiracy theories. VGChartz isn't perfect and had made mistakes in past, especially today when they lack digital sales numbers. Physical copies are not as "hot" as they used to be. And NPD has NO reliable method to reveal digital sales numbers, they are quite frankly shooting in the dark. And the fact they can't replicate that for PC digital sales, just shows how their method for counting digital sales is flawed. Also if in case you are correct, somehow NPD has very accurate digital sales numbers, then why the hell EA doesn't admit ME:A sales are poor and disappointing? Instead EA says the opposite, that they are happy with BioWare with ME:A. Lying to investors about poor sales is a way to lose investors, as well it goes strongly against EA's historic precedent where they always publicly admit when a game is a failure or disappointment. Yet they don't do that, while apparently there are public numbers that "prove" ME:A sold badly. You are putting way too much faith on those sites, whom no longer have reliable methods to count sales numbers years ago, and making up conspiracy theory that EA is lying to public and investors for no real good reasons and which will backfire hard on them if they did lied.

Did you ever think that EA knew Andromeda was going to be poorly received (how could they not) and thus they could easily frame their conversation with investors by saying that yes, they were happy with Andromeda sales? If they didn't expect massive numbers in the first place, they could very easily tell investors they were thrilled with how Andromeda sold. That's not lying. Yet that doesn't change the fact that when they initially budgeted Andromeda, they expected much, much more. Also, you're continually sidestepping your ars technica / reddit post, which leads me to believe that you realize it is useless as a metric to gauge sales - and far less accurate than VG or NPD. The fact that publishers don't refute their reports outright should be evidence enough that there's a large semblance of accuracy with regards to their results.

suikoden because I'm quite frankly disinterested to explain to you how surveying methods work, with your continuous condescending response. You should actually read the Ars article. ME:A is ranked 145th by their metrics... Right behind Pneuma: Breath of Life and Super Mega Baseball... Do you think those games outsold Andromeda? Because that's what you're implying. It gets better, Titanfall is ranked 8th. Based on the Reddit articles reasoning, that means it must have sold 8.5m.... And that means Black Ops 3 sold over 20m on Xbox alone... Maybe I just need you to explain to me how surveying methods work?

Thats the thing, there won't be an official statement. If there isn't DLC, then EA/Bioware is better of by just staying silent and hoping MEA fades away to the realm where Jade Empire resides. Also, Bioware is banking on bringing in a new demographic/player base with Anthem. They know they will lose fans with Anthem, but they know that whatever they lose, the will gain back 2x or 3x more with Anthem, which appeals to a broader audience than a Dragon Age or Mass Effect. Bioware has been salivating at this since ME2 and now they are going for the knockout with their "Destiny Killer". But yeah, if you are waiting on some official statement from EA or Bioware, then you will be disappointed. Yeah, I don't expect a statement if there won't be a DLC. If there isn't one by the time the comic and book are released, then that's my signal that there's no DLC. yeah that's the deadline I think if there's none by the time the books are released then there's not likely to be any.

Good job summing things up Biofan. Here's hoping fans of Andromeda get the DLC Bioware teased at the end of the game.

It's not a question of it being more or less accurate. It's a question of actually having any data at all, which neither VG nor NPD have for digital in this case. It's interesting to see Steam have gotten on-board, though. I enjoy your trolls as much as the next guy suko, but insisting that it's more accurate then whatever this sample is when its missing whole platforms doesn't make any sense. I don't even know what the sample is you're talking about, but if the comparison is a source that literally doesn't have the figures available to it then logically it doesn't matter either way.

You need to learn how statistics works. If someone did a survey with a sample size of 113 thousand people it would actually be representative enough to allow for a margin of error +/- 5%. Now I haven't seen the survey in question but I know that surveying 113 thousand people is some serious work being put in. That being said, where's the survey so I can read it?

Everyone should take a breath, step back and just see what happens. Give it until August or even September if the patches did set things back a lot, and see what happens. If by the mid to late Fall there's nothing, we have our answer and we can move on. That does not mean they might not make one even later in the year since the demand is growing every day, and EA did comply with previous demands, but for now, we can't do anything to speed up the process or make EA/BW talk.

Hey biofan. By the way good to see you again. Heyo! Thank you All attempts to downplay a positive EA earnings report using unverifiable and incomplete data have failed. I don't think we're ever going to get a final number, so it pretty speculative. Weird how the games industry is kinda reclusive with those types of figures, whereas the film industry is immediately forthcoming.
