I do as well! *sets up lawn chair* I put in a bazillion hours covering a game, so I want a physical case and disk to commemorate all that hard work. (5) a subset of people who still prefer to have physical copies of things AND THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT

Huh, thanks "warrior". I bought a physical copy since it's nice. I have a shelf for my books and game discs. For BioWare games I have a special box, they're pretty important stuff for me and will follow me for years to come. Hmm ok. I didn't mean any offense.I'm just trying to figure out what % more digital copies sold we could reasonably expect in an era when so much is done online, and companies like GameStop have seen a major decline in people visiting their brick and mortar stores. Since people in this thread keep pointing out to Sudo that we don't have digital sales numbers, which should be much greater if these trends apply. Maybe it would be clearer if I changed #2 to "collectors and megafans" or something like that -- because that's pretty much what I meant. I love BioWare games enough to be here -- even enough to have read fanfic in the past, to own an N7 hoodie -- but I don't have a special box for their games or feel any sentimental need to have the actual object in my home. DON'T WORRY! I've come across like a bigger ogre. However, like theLonelyPoet, I set aside everything from BioWare in its own place. "BioWare" D: Hard drive. Their own CD folder. All of their books are in my library case. I'm a big nerd when it comes to great digital entertainment and value. Big nerd. With OCD. So, yeah... but I get where the both of you are coming from.

I believe I read that EA and the SAG-AFTRA had come to an agreement regarding an extension for existing contracts prior to the strike. Now after Andromeda and any other content is done? Well, that will probably be a different story. EA has agreed to it? When did that happen? Ah, dammit, I can't find the article from last week I got that from. Alright, I do know that Mass Effect: Andromeda isn't on SAG-AFTRA's list of games that could be impacted by the strike. I can at least link that.

This is how I see it. Wait. Literally it. Just wait. The ultimate test will be to see if Bioware do anything with Mass Effect after the next Dragon Age. So what would that be? 2019? 2020? Long wait but people might have stop giving a shit then besides us. After DA4s dlcs and maybe Anthem is around that will be the time to ask them. I love Vetra as much as the next blind fanboy but maybe the series does need a break. From the reports Bioware really broke their backs trying to give us this game. And Vetra is in it. Thats enough for me.

We'd probably need a lawyer who specializes in contract law to be able to answer that one reliably, but my gut says the game contract would also extend to DLC as well if it were written to include it. Being EA I can't see them overlooking that.

Someone posted a link to this yesterday and I can't remember who. Voice Actor Strike - Updated June 9thIt shows that EA has not had any word with the union in months for they are holding out to get residuals. If they don't come back to the table and negotiate I don't think it will end anytime soon and developers will "look for other means". This could also be why they didn't go straight into production of a new game for they need to know if they are going to be able to have any returning characters or not. It also mentions a cut-off date of development starting in February 2015, but I have no idea if that would also incorporate DLC. Edit: Fixed URL.

If that wasn't going on, then I would worry a bit, but it's one of the things that makes me think there's still hope. To me, it makes a lot of sense as a possibility... If the studio can't record, then they scale back the studio to stop the "bleed" in salaries until they know they can get back to work. Also, it would make more sense to me if they just cut the budget down for the DLC rather than cut the DLC entirely. That way, they still put out something, but a cheaper something than they would have done if ME:A had sold as well as they anticipated. That way, they "save face" somewhat with the fans without breaking the bank. I would goddamn like if 2017 went with smaller scale DLC but amp up again into big DLC/expansions through 2018 until Anthem. I don't expect it AT ALL. But such a process sounds intriguing.

Well, they kinda did exactly that with the Jaal romance, in my opinion. It wasn't huge, but it added new dialog and animations to the game without being a full blown DLC.

But since it was in a patch does in count in the contract as part of the original game, which is allowed by the strike, or as new work (such as DLC) which may or not be allowed.

I can't imagine the contract wasn't written to include all work on ME:A, including DLC. It's EA, crossing the t's and dotting the i's is something they're really good at, but it's something a contract lawyer would be more qualified to answer than I.

I hope the contract includes DLC. I kinda worry how the strike will affect games once we start to see the impact. I remember the writers strike a decade ago, and once the episodes written before the strike aired, shows were put on hiatus, promising new show were canceled, other shows storylines lost steam in the months between. I have a feeling that if this doesn't get resolved soon, in 4 or 5 years there will be a lot of games with cringeworthy acting.

One has to wonder why Biofan left out how and who debunked the hoax. The role of BSN and Reddit was significant. I watched from the sidelines, but it sure was awesome to see. Without the community everyone would still believe Kotaku and SN. I think Biofan needs to make money with his videos and BSN and Reddit have bad names and that doesn't sell, right?

Well Polygon is likely still holding a grudge over this incident. Uh, I think OAG is GamerGate-affiliated. I can't trust it, sorry. It links to Polygon's article and to Jason's tweet insulting and swearing at Polygon over that said article. What article really does is just writes a summary of the situation. Otherwise, I wouldn't have linked that article. It is a damn trash of the site. But at least it summarizes online drama well?

Come to think of it, I noticed Polygon did not publish an article about MEA's DLC. Well Polygon is likely still holding a grudge over this incident. They did report on the first article he released about the trouble during development. I remember it vividly for I suggested they starting putting their only source is Kotaku in the headline.

I'm certain this article is reaching and I'm also certain it's not Mass Effect-related. I don't understand why or how is this related.
