What the hell is going on with BioWare and the DLC for Mass Effect: Andromeda!?! Good question.
There's been a much of misleading/confusing information lately, so this video will aim to clear up the whole situation for you.
Do you think there will be DLC? If so, what do you think it will be about?

The forum peeps are just the most in-the-know Figured a recap of everything would be useful to some at the very least It was perfect and felt like you voiced a lot of my inner thoughts! I doubt the panic will fully subside without an official word, but it keeps hope up for some, and others who are ready to let go can look forward to the next games! Just depends on how they want to take it without any news from BW/EA. I told you last night I had doubts, but I will remain a bit hopeful until the end of August at least. I also pointed out like you did, that with all the patching, if a DLC was planned, it would be delayed most definitely!

So what's up with the sales figures? Last I read, there's like $53 million from premium editions that got pushed to Q1, nobody knows how many digital copies have been sold and the EA report was positive. Not being argumentative, being curious. I've caught fragments of different arguments over various threads.

Biofans market is more then just the bsn. And even though *we* have analyzed the info doesn't mean the general internet public did with several outlets still reporting on MEAs demise.

It sold within the top 5 games of March/April. Its sales around then were about a third of what EA anticipated.

I thought ea was expecting 3-5 million copies sold and that mea sold just over 2 million from physical copies alone.

Good video. I think people on both sides need to take a deep breath and realize we don't know anything for sure yet, and won't until an official statement is made.

Thats the thing, there won't be an official statement. If there isn't DLC, then EA/Bioware is better of by just staying silent and hoping MEA fades away to the realm where Jade Empire resides. Also, Bioware is banking on bringing in a new demographic/player base with Anthem. They know they will lose fans with Anthem, but they know that whatever they lose, the will gain back 2x or 3x more with Anthem, which appeals to a broader audience than a Dragon Age or Mass Effect. Bioware has been salivating at this since ME2 and now they are going for the knockout with their "Destiny Killer". But yeah, if you are waiting on some official statement from EA or Bioware, then you will be disappointed.

It makes zero sense from a business standpoint to kill a brand you've cultivated for over a decade for something new with no fan base that won't be out for over a year. There is nothing in the pipeline for BioWare until fall '18. Check out their main store and it's dominated by Mass Effect products including new stuff for Andromeda each month. There are novels, comics, loot crates, etc. Leaving a gigantic hole in the schedule while killing a performing brand is bad business

Either way at some point we'll probably know, with something resembling certainty at least.

I would have liked to see you mention the information that Andrew Wilson talked about at the end of his Q&A about how he felt towards BioWare and Mass Effect during his investor's call in May just to balance out the two sources talking about the negative articles about the game. Equal time so to speak.
Other then that it felt fairly balanced.
For some reason your video reminded me of the voice actor's strike and how EA might want to use DLC to at least have some level of profits going while they are unable to cast voices in future games.

Thanks for the vid. How do you know they only sold 1/3 of what they projected. They launched a game with a serious graphic problem...they must have known that would impact sales. That should have impacted their projection. In assume the game made a profit and enough sold to warrant at least one DLC. There are a lot of ME A fans out there who will be very upset that there is no DLC. Don't screw your die hard fans Bioware!

I'm still halfway suspicious the VA strike is preventing production... and Bioware has no idea when EA will reach an agreement with SAG-AFTRA.

Hey, BioFan. Long time fan and subscriber. I'm very excited for the next Andromenerds and the BioNerds (?) that will come after. Just have to say, you underrepresented sales numbers for MEA in your last video. NPD does not track Origin sales (I have an email from them somewhere if you need), and some other digital sales, so there number they state is very incomplete. It states that it includes digital sales, but it is not true that it includes all digital sales. Overall, from my calculations from what I've seen reported, MEA sold very nearly 3 million copies in the first week or two, very much on target. However, I agree that sales probably tapered more severely than anticipated and that making their 2nd goal (6 million) is unlikely. You do a great job and there's a ton of information to go through, and very little of it is very clear cut. You do an amazing job. Thumbs up to you sir.

If that wasn't going on, then I would worry a bit, but it's one of the things that makes me think there's still hope. To me, it makes a lot of sense as a possibility... If the studio can't record, then they scale back the studio to stop the "bleed" in salaries until they know they can get back to work. Also, it would make more sense to me if they just cut the budget down for the DLC rather than cut the DLC entirely. That way, they still put out something, but a cheaper something than they would have done if ME:A had sold as well as they anticipated. That way, they "save face" somewhat with the fans without breaking the bank.
