Hopefully, this will put an end to the "ME: A sold poorly!" narratively. I never said it sold poorly, just that it may not have sold what EA expected. If it sold 3.5 million that is not bad and is really good, but if they were expecting 5 million then while 3.5m is good, it still wasnt what they projected. So in regards to DLC, if they were going off the assumption that it would make 5m and budget DLC based off that revenue, then it completely changes things if it only sold 3.5mil But it is nice for them to mention MEA but that still brings us back to square one which is....when/where is the DLC? Damn, hopefully any developer would push back on unreasonable sales projections. I mean, ME3 just this year hit 6 million lifetime sales. Mass Effect is a popular series with a stupidly invested fan base (as we prove over and over again) but it's not WoW or something.

Nice to see that ME:A did well. Andromeda was -and still is- a flawed game for sure but it bombing would not benefit the ME series at all.

But, you know, Jason said that "sources familiar with Bioware's plans" told him that the game was a financial failure and a flop and is dead and everyone who ever worked on Mass Effect was taken out back Old Yeller style.
Who are you going to believe, Jason and his anonymous sources that totally aren't made up, or an EA investor's call?
Checkmate, atheists.

I see 3 dlc's and another ME game to be released in 2021/22. Maybe 2020, if anthem and next DA game are not delayed Me too. But what I 'see', while often correct, isn't necessarily built up by strong evidence. A DLC quickly announced then released in August would contribute to strong evidence. And I have some doubts we'll see ME in 2020 but who knows. And I'm more prepared for 2 DLC instead of 3 but who knows. In any case, I'm definitely not on the doom and gloom side of things. Not rah rah super positivity, but I see nothing that indicates MEA is some big failure in terms of Bioware's business. (And I never consider discounts and demos months after release as a real indicator.) Maybe MP is dropping off more than expected. Maybe. Maybe active gametime is lower than expected. Maybe. Maybe sale decline is steeper than expected. Maybe. But like, whatever man.

MEA not being a loss isn't a big surprise. I don't keep up with EA, but I'm guessing they only rarely have any flops that are in the red.

They mention Andromeda in the Prepared Comments. They simply state it was a contributor to their sales goal but don't elaborate. Incredibly vague, my guess is it did some business but nothing to write home about. Which is what I expect for an RPG anyway. Ultimately this is a victory, but it's on a razor's edge of being a pyrrhic one.

A DLC quickly announced then released in August would contribute to strong evidence. I would not be surprised if this Monday they announce a dlc to be released the following day on Tuesday. I know. Its wishful thinking. I remember when they announced Jaws. It was the day before release. About 4 months after DAI released. Its been over 4 months now since MEA was released. Anyways. Just a guess. It would be a good way to start the month of August

The only mention I saw of really big numbers was for a full year to have five million or six million in sales and even then those might be projections and not expectations. The six million copies projection also had a week one sales of three million estimation. Even if they don't make those numbers its not the end of the world either, Resident Evil 7 missed its end of fiscal year projections by 500,000 copies of 4 million in sales. As far as DLC goes who really knows outside of EA and BioWare, they normally have DLC at Day 1 and then about four months later, but if they are fighting fires they could also delay DLC such as with Mass Effect 3 when they released the extended cut they also delayed paid DLC until five (or was it six months). Since BioWare did go back and edit game systems they might be running later with DLC for Andromeda as well. Its all speculation of course. Edit: Bad grammar, bad.

Did EA dispute any of what he wrote? In the meantime, Jason's book has an actual release date. Maybe we can make it a race over which comes out first, his book, or a DLC announcement.

Now if only Bioware announced DLC already, that would indeed be the last nail in his coffin. His article was actually pretty tame and even focused on positives, quoting EA on how they were happy with how Bioware was treating the game. I'm not sure why everyone seems to think he's this horrible villain that wants the series to die a la Fluffy/Pouf. You can't even really blame him for that screenshot he took of the rabble on this forum based on the reception to his work prior.
