Funny, when I was a kid I worshiped Sailor Moon and Sailor Neptune and Uranus became my insta faves when they showed up on screen for the first time. I watched the censored dubbed version where they referred to their close relationship as being "cousins". I had no idea they were gay back then but they still had an impact. The gay resonance is real. Now as an adult I can watch the uncensored original in it's full glory. I'm really glad that LGBT kids, in many places anyway, don't have to suffer through censorship and can readily find media that represents them. Censorship is disgusting, I was fortunate enough to enjoy the uncensored version of the romance with the spanish dub, although Kunzite and Zoisite were uncle/nephew in the first season and my younger self was like XD

This is so true!!! I have a lot of characters in my heart but when it comes to LGBTQ growing up these undoubtedly! About my teen years, Willow and Tara Those characters mean a lot to me, and I just roll my eyes every time I read that fictional characters are just shallow fiction... WRONG. I wish I would have had this movie growing up the thought of a lot of LGBTQ kids watching this while growing up warms my heart Funny, when I was a kid I worshiped Sailor Moon and Sailor Neptune and Uranus became my insta faves when they showed up on screen for the first time. I watched the censored dubbed version where they referred to their close relationship as being "cousins". I had no idea they were gay back then but they still had an impact. I'm really glad that LGBT kids, in many places anyway, don't have to suffer through censorship and can readily find media that represents them. I knew something was up because they left in all the romantic scenes between them in the English dub of the show. No cousins are so close they cuddle at night or walk around together 24/7. Looking back on it Sailor Moon did air in the 1990s on a kids channel in the US so unless they wanted massive outrage and likely would have lead to the show being canceled during a time where anime was getting big in the west. Granted no one cared Sailor Moon was 14 dating someone damn near 20 if not 20. Seriously how does anyone like Tuxedo Mask? And does anyone know if Sailor Moon Crystal is any good?

No lies, I'm still furious about the way Gil and Reyes were handled for Male Ryder. The urge to strangle someone, including the writers, was huge, but I refused to take it out on them. They probably didn't realize queer people were tired of being a hamfisted and halfassed storyline about "gay struggles" things we hope to get away from in our gaming media to take a break from because, I don't know about the rest of you, but my queer ass would like a fucking break from "the gay struggle" for at least five fucking minutes.

I feel that some gay people, me included, actually want representation without touching social issues. I would love to see a gay character that is open about his sexuality but his plot does not revolve around it. For example, a gay squadmate who openly flirts with male PC and NPCs but his loyalty mission has nothing to do with him being gay. This does not mean that having a gay character with his plot revolving around his sexuality is objectively bad. I know that some gay people love Dorian and his story. But I would say that since gay people, like other groups, are diverse, representation of gay people should be the same. Pretty much all of that.
